Can you physically raise your subtitles higher on the frame for any French spoken words? At least twice as high as you have it now is far more legible, I have found, after digitising many foreign language films with hardcoded subs myself for my library.
I agree and the grandma or funkiness is great in an old chateau. It adds to the ambience of the era. Plenty of mirror for a woman doing her makeup, and the reflection of light on the mirror would be great. Instead of glue to test hanging them there use Commando Strips. Commando strips allow you to remove the light without any residue.
I ADORE the lights - they are a retro masterpiece! Really gorgeous. And you could see at the end that the extra pieces of wood for the rear of the bathroom unit have been varnished and blend in perfectly with the rest of it - well done Anna! That is going to look very special when it’s all completed.
Philip is right again. The dining room paint color, design aesthetic, bathroom vanity color, all the lights including these. I love the lights! Anna, give him more trust with his design.
Love the lamps. Very MCM. Adds texture and will produce a really nice, diffuse light. In my experience, Araldite CLEAR (2 part epoxy) is great for repairing glass, esp larger bits likely to be exposed to heat and moisture. Does not yellow, less brittle and is longer lasting than super glue/cyanacrylate. Find a place for those destined for the opportunity shop. They are great too! (FYI am a collector/restorer of vintage Scandi glass).
I’m in love with the soft blue/green color in the dressing room with the beautiful wall paper. Spectacular! I love the mirror lights also. Good job Phillip!
Is anyone else crumbling with anxiety watching Philip try to get those things straight on the mirror? Don't eff this up Philip! Seriously though, gorgeous lights, what an inspired choice.
I absolutely love how everything is coming together. I know it’s been a slow project, and we’ve all been a little leery about how the tiles and tub and vanity and wall color and everything would come together cohesively, but I am really starting to see it as a whole, unified space. Your hard work is paying off, and I have appreciated seeing the start-and-stop process.
Not at all boring ! I’m committed now and excited to see how it turns out!!! Oh please don’t stop showing that!! We need closure! lol Thank you angels much love!❤
Murano glass/chandeliers/lamps/sconces are iconic. Their products range in prices from very expensive to picking up a bargain online. (well done Philip) Their retro pieces are very popular. Your lights look very cool & stylish without being quirky.
So happy Anna that you explained in the beginning of the vedio; that not everything turns out how you want in the beginning. I find I find a lot of UA-camr's will get angry with certain comments; and I don't blame them. So never give my two cents unless asked by you! For example; when you put the wallpaper up in your mud room and painted the woodwork dark blue. I sad nothing until you ask our opinion and thought the dark paint completed with your masterpiece of wallpaper. I so look forward to and appreciate being able to go along for the journey. So that being said I really do like the lighting Phillip picked out; I think they look better in on the bathroom mirror; but need to be centered between the top and bottom; to low they're look to Grandma! Lmao..😂 Plus LOOK how much Philip's growth in the past few years; saying " I definitely need to measure " ! Just couldn't be prouder of him! LoL The bed look's fabulous! Love you guy's! ❤❤❤
I've been checking every day for updates on this bathroom and that project lol. Definitely surprised you think we'd be bored of it. Love watching your perseverance and how you keep going until it's done exactly how you want it.
Lights are not my taste, however if you love them that’s all that matters because at the end of the day, a home that is collected is a home that reflects you and makes you feel loved and comfortable and that’s what’s important, not trends or not what others think. Do what speaks to you and you’ll never go wrong!!! Gather your pieces over time, that’s what we did. 41 years later the house I hated and wanted to burn to the ground for years & years has slowly become my perfect sanctuary by way of me picking up bits and pieces from everywhere, adding my touch to them and nestling them into their exact right place among my many other treasures, which all combined serve to reflect US, who we are as a couple, as a family and as a person! My house now is more beautiful than it was when it was first built and it’s all because we renovated it, inch by inch and pieced the whole thing together as we grew. Today, it’s one of the best houses on our street and I’m so proud to call it my forever home!!
One of the best things we have had installed in our en-suite bathroom is a low light under the vanity unit that is triggered by movement. This means any overnight visits to the bathroom do not involve fiddling to find a light switch or putting all the bathroom lights on.
Oh my goodness, I love the light fixtures-they are exquisite and look absolutely gorgeous! Well done, Philipp! Congratulations, Anna on your wallpaper selling so well! It is so beautiful. Things are really looking great in the bathroom and dressing room!
Absolutely not boring Ana😊I'm always delighted to see how you find a solution to your numerous challenges. The mirror lights really transform the bathroom. Well done Philip as always❤
Woodworking is so awesome and I loved the journey of the bathroom vanity. I think you're absolutely right that it's important to show that making a product from a living being like wood is more intricate and complicated than it may seem. A lot of time, energy, knowledge, and experience goes into a quality woodworking product, as I'm sure Benoit could attest to. Thank you for highlighting this aspect of home construction, and furniture making specifically, and making it accessible to the everyday person.
Phillip always comes through with the good lighting! All of the rooms look amazing when lit and Anna did a great job with the bathroom cabinet. The wood grain is beautiful! It was good to have a Benoit sighting, as well!
I think you'll have to live with them and they'll grow on you! Definitely nicer on the mirror and not intrusive at all; they're not too big either. We had lights similar to this in our 1908 house near the mirror and I loved them. I'm glad that Benoit loved your vanity with the color on it. I think it looks great! Have a fun week everyone. (from Sandi)
Boring? The word has Never crossed my mind when I watch your videos. I am always interested, laugh at Phillip’s mishaps, and marvel at Ana’s talent and patience with Phillip’s antics.
Phillipe, well done on your beautiful lights for your bathroom, stunning! I adore your humour!! Anna, beautiful job on your sink console, looks so nice! The pair of you are a great team!!
Philip, honestly, I always trust your taste but this time with these lamps I was very sceptical until you lit them up! They are gorgeous! Good choice, well done. Can‘t wait to see you move into the master suite!
Those wall lights (Seguso Murano mid century?) work really well. Personally believe good to bring a blend/mix of decorative fixtures and furnishings into a living space - more contemporary (not sure if that’s the right word) vs creating a pastiche of a particular era / style. You both have a good eye for what works in harmony with the ensemble. I think you’ll just know when something jars or doesn’t work out.
Lights are copied from Scandinavian-Finnish lights popular in 60s and 70s. That is why they imitate frozen ice. I have been buying these at auctions and charity shops for years and have a few pairs and one single Costa Boda installed in my place in Budapest. The glass imitates nature thus fit into 19 Century rooms as well as mid century modern interiors. Good find.
Yes, exactly! This type of lighting fits best in a mid-century modern interior or contemporary interior. They are both determined to turn the chateau into something that fits their idea of hip and wonder why the interior lacks warmth and character. Maybe because it's not a Scandinavian cottage or a mid-century ranch. 🤔🫢
It almost like it's their own castle and they're decorating it according to their taste to be used as their family home. How dare they, right? @@moni1383
Love the lights on the vanity!! Verrrrry beautiful texture and will produce great light. They add a bit of history and depth to the room tha5 you need. ❤
Super cool lights! Contrasts and choosing things you like are what will make your home interesting. Matchy matchy is what makes for stagnation which I think is what you mean by "grandmaish"
I can’t believe you haven’t been scouring flea markets and antique shops to make your home warmer and more cost. You also need GOOD READING LAMPS next to comfortable chairs!
I love the lamps on the wall in the dressing room. They are very elegant and are very good with Anna's wallpaper. I'll bet they are more valuable than what you have paid at auction for them, in fact.
I think Benoit appreciates how much love you are showering on this vanity :) I love his measuring apparatus :) not a common haven't seen one of those in years. If the second glass is a light feature that's lovely. The other two are a little 80's for me or 70's even. I think showing them how they look lit might help you decide. That pair would look better in a dressing room than the bath since one of them is cracked you will notice. I hope you can get replacement glass. But your bath not mine I hope no one bumps them. People in comments do not understand the relationship Anna and Philipp have to comment on their banter. I think they are so loving towards each other if you can't see that I don't know.
Love the lights! The 3D printer is amazing! Cannot wait to see Anna’s chair! ❤
Love the lights in the ensuite. Philip you are so funny, love your sense of humour!
Those lamps on the mirror are terrific. Rooms always benefit from a bit of funky. Good job, Phillip!
Nope the are too big on that bathroom mirror
