I love the really dark wood. Stunning. Part of the beauty of this one is while it’s spinning it looks like three different colors. This is my favorite piece of all I’ve seen. And you know I’ve been binging. 😆
A very nice piece. A great choice of timbers too. It's been a while since I've done anything off centre. You've inspired me to put my 'wonky eyes' in and come up with something.
Thanks Gary. . I've been wanting to do something like this for a bit but my little lathe doesn't like off center stuff it bukaroos around the workshop !!
Absolutely stunning! Thank you! You are an inspiration! You make me want to better myself and do different and more challenging pieces! Thank you thank you thank you
Really, really nice, Andy. The color tones of the Zebrano and Wenge complement beautifully, and that really adds to the effect of the off center insert. And you matched grain direction, which gets a Hooray! from me :-) Clyde
Thankyou .. one of my main aims when doing these videos is to get a hooray from Clyde so I'm happy 👍plus I'm not putting this one on the shelf of shame ..phew !!
I’ve seen thousands of wood bowls in my travels. You are a MASTER at your art. What is the secret of getting your hands and arms to move so fast almost insect-like
An exceptional piece Andy. Nice choice of contrasting woods. This must have been in your "carbide" phase. I don;t remember seeing any more recent videos where yo made quite so much use of carbide cutters. Thanks.
Andy this is a stunning bowl when you look I to it, it feels like you are drawn into the bowl. The grain is breathtakingly beautiful, what kinds of wood did you use. Wow it is outstanding!!!
Well done Andy. You did a cracking job. It's a different twist to the off-center bowl I was expecting to see. Hmmmm, I wonder how it would look with an off-center inlay and an off-center bowl done on 2 different centers; Something I'm going to have a go at. Cheers, Ben
Thanks Ben .. I think there is definitely some different option to try with this design ..My little lathe struggles with the off center stuff but new lathe arrived today so looking forward to tying some more like this and larger stuff .. cheers ..
The use of the wenge grain is beautifully done. Making a vortex effect as the zebra wood transitions into it is absolutely stunning. One of your best. Is this the effect you were looking for or was this a happy accident? Beautiful work Andy as usual nethertheless.
Thankyou .. I was pretty sure they'd go well together but I suppose you never know what you're going to get until it's turned ..the wenge actually looks better without a finish ,I think the finish hides the grain a bit .. cheers
Great! Hmm. Glue two or more wedges of different woods together to make a flattish blank with diagonal borders through it, and turn that into a vase or bowl?
Absolutely beautiful work. Excellent use of contrasting tones and textures. You can be proud of yourself for this one.

WOW!! How you came up with this is jaw dropping! This is a splendid and brilliant work of art! BRAVO!!
Clever piece! You have to imagine al the steps to get there up front. That's were craftmanship stands out over the DIY guys. Superb!
I love the really dark wood. Stunning. Part of the beauty of this one is while it’s spinning it looks like three different colors. This is my favorite piece of all I’ve seen. And you know I’ve been binging. 😆
Oh wow ... the combination of these woods is spectacular. You’re using woods I’ve never even heard of ... beautifully done.
watched in amazement, what a Beautiful piece of work. thank you Andy
This is one of your best works that I have viewed,,, thanks!
The optical illusion with the offset wood grains is like looking at an old 1960’s blacklight poster. You might dub it the “LSD Bowl!” 👍🏻🤣
Lovely craftsmanship, I could watch wood turning all day long
Thanks 👍
A very nice piece. A great choice of timbers too. It's been a while since I've done anything off centre. You've inspired me to put my 'wonky eyes' in and come up with something.
Thanks Gary. . I've been wanting to do something like this for a bit but my little lathe doesn't like off center stuff it bukaroos around the workshop !!
You chose the exact wood for this project, very beautiful contrast and a perfect finish!
That’s an heirloom piece... wow... gorgeous... I love that you not only offset the wood but also the grain... stunning 😍

Very unique. I've never seen anything like this. Excellent work.
Such a beautiful piece, even if it does set my OCD off. And I love how the grain inside the bowl is working towards the overall effect.
Thanks ..
I love this! Of course I’ll have to watch it again a few more times to get it figured out! Thanks for sharing!
LOL ..Thanks
Well you learn something new every day! I just had to Google wenge and zebrano to see what wood it was :)))
Absolutely exquisite piece of work..! 💛
Absolutely stunning! Thank you! You are an inspiration! You make me want to better myself and do different and more challenging pieces! Thank you thank you thank you

Thanks Lee .. glad you liked it ..
I added a lid from the light wood, in my case old pine, with a knob from the dark wood. Very effective

FELIZ NAVIDAD AMIGO 🙏🙏🎅
That is a serious bit of wedge, must have cost a fortune? But it was so worth it! Thanks.
It looks great
Andy this is a stunning bowl when you look I to it, it feels like you are drawn into the bowl. The grain is breathtakingly beautiful, what kinds of wood did you use. Wow it is outstanding!!!
Thanks Kobie .. I used Wenge and Zebrano .. cheers

Andy,
Great work as always. How many years have you been doing woodturning?
I admire your work so much. Such skills.
Thanks .. Did a bit of turning as an apprentice years ago just got back into it maybe 3 years ago ..👍

well cool like the effect inside the bowl
Thanks John
Gracias Jorge ..
I love that bowl, but I feel sorry for the Zebrano. Couldn't you have used a less thick blank for the inlay or cut the blank in half?
Great!
Hmm. Glue two or more wedges of different woods together to make a flattish blank with diagonal borders through it, and turn that into a vase or bowl?
Obrigado Ronaldo ...
BEAUTIFUL....
Thanks Kem
Beautiful
Thanks
Hi Andy, Your work has got me hooked. I'll be looking to get a lathe, maybe a Jet, but what's the little red one you use?
Thanks .. It was an Axminster awls ..just a cheap generic hobby lathe..I'm sure you will have fun
PRETTY!
Thanks Holly 👍
Absolutely stunning! Curious, what was the purple kool-aid looking liquid you applied for the finish?
Thanks Ken ..it was Meths or denatured alcohol to clean off before finishing .cheers
First time I've seen this video Andy. Love this piece!! Question, what was the blue liquid in the bottle that you used?
I thought it was purple. I'd like to know as well.
That odd plastic tool at the start appears to take 4x longer than just using a ruler to strike the diagonals?
What wood did you use in this combination? Because it's great
Thanks Anton ..It is Wenge with a Zebrano insert .. cheers
I want one .It is beautiful
Thanks Deena 👍
I love it.
Thankyou .. glad you like it ..
Very nice. What is the finish that you used on that?
Thanks Scott ..It was a friction polish
Thanks that was awesome
Thanks Darryl ..glad you liked it ..
Nice work. Maybe more light shed on the scene would help better see it. Thanks
Great project it really messed with my eyes
Cool!
Thankyou Maxim ..
