One of my Massey 44's was missing a spring on the fly weights on the advance in the distributor. I fiddled with a spring out of a ball point pen to make it work 20 years ago. Its still in there too. I've no doubt that you'll get it back in operation Jan. Cool video. Sure was lots of nastiness inside there.
Yes 44, myself have modified parts everywhere that still works today, I am confidant that I will make this one work, I will do an interesting test tomorrow, thanks for watching my friend
That was a mighty interesting video my friend! Really enjoyed that one, seeing how the governor operates. Quite a complex but effective system. Everything was built with such care and attention back in those days. Well I'm going to carry on with the next video now. I won't overload you with comments one after another, but this is a great series of videos my friend, well done indeed!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend, no problem for no comments while you catch up, I am now at a point where the governor work perfect, but as you will see there was many other problems coming up that I need to give attention to, hope you enjoy the rest of the journey my friend
Man yeah, I bet that was a task getting the lister in the workshop! But it seems you have figured out what will be best for the governor, at least there aren't major issues when you took it apart! Look fwd to the next step here Mr Jan!! I apologize for being late, missed this notification somehow earlier today. Can't wait to see what's next, hope the rain isn't to much, thank you for bringing us along my friend!!
Hi Nelson, no problem my friend, I know you are a busy man, appreciate every comment dearly, it took me about 40 minutes to move it 30 foot, the caster wheels are strong but extremely small, and the rig is totally top heavy, it was a struggle my friend
That's true, the amount of fresh grease is much less now, I see there is an oiler on top, that means just a squirt of oil now and then is how it was designed to work
@@jankotze1959 I don't know for sure but I never saw a governor that wasn't free to move and that thick grease would limit the fast movement,, at it looks like that to me.
That governer case was dirty, glad you cleaned it up, I look forward to see it in action!
Extremely packed with hard grease, I am sure I will be able to get it working again
That was some nasty grease Jan! Good luck with the spring mechanism. Take care.
Thank You my friends, it is a challenge but will come up with something, stay tuned my friends and take care

Nice work Jan. Look forward to your repair
Thank You Robert, I have a couple of plans in my head, we will test it tomorrow, thanks for watching
Hopefully this will help it out buddy.
I really hope so Big Charlie, I believe there is a way to put that problem in bed
I'm surprised the governor works properly with all that thick grease in there

Looks like there is a few missing parts. Hope you will be able to fabricate them.
Yes it is the first time I dig into the governor, I will try my best
