  • I get the governor put back together, clean the crankshaft and bearings and get as far as being ready to start building up the bottom end.

I'm just about to buy a Lister it's been standing for about 25 years, it's a complete engine but she is well stuck,,,, yep it's a risk but at the age of 66 I'm not in any rush... These vlogs are going to come in very handy!!!!!!

You are doing a cracking job, well done. When I worked in a factory those jobs were called "Homers" LOL. Thanks for posting.

Thanks! How did they get the name Homers?

@@Endfloat It was because they were jobs that we brought in from home to do on the machines.

@@malcytull ah right! Makes sense! We call them nixers. I don't honestly know where that came from though. Most of my work on this engine has been done in my garage at home actually.

Well done for removing the flywheel assembly. I have given up on mine, as the Gib key is rather weak now with all my useless hammering! However, the bearings seem fine, no grinding noises. Thanks too re the governor assembly, which I'm doing myself right now.

You need a good thick wedge with a shallow slope, and file the face of the gib key flat, then clean the keyway thoroughly, file off any burrs and get a good heavy hammer you can give it some proper clumps with. If you break off the head, you're no worse off really.

By the way, I thought my bearings were fine until I disassembled everything and saw how dirty they were.

I'm interested to see how you disassembled the camshaft etc from the governor timing cover, but I can't see a video of you doing it. Nowone seems to ever strip it down, but mine is seized so I need to!!

I didn't do it either. There's a roll pin you've to take out if memory serves me though.

    Great video, thanks for posting
I'm just working on my camshaft and governor etc myself on mine, how did you find the correct position for the sprocket when you went to refit that part?
I was hoping it would show in this video! Haha

And thank you for watching! With the slotted follower at the tdc position, the cam lobe is to the top.
