You should do a “Jesus lizard” top water and see if you can make the feet run on the water. Maybe have the feet be connected through an axle and be like some kind of paddle system. That would be EPIC
I thinks it's a fascinating progression watching you experiment with the weight transfer baits. Each one you make them thinner and more detailed and more like the normal wood baits without the weight transfer systems in them. We are literally watching you perfect a new skill day by day!
I’m not a fishing guy, I don’t even own a fishing pole. I’m an artist, a craftsman a creator of things. I want to start fishing just so I can make lure’s 😎
Dude! I watched this video on the way to the lake this morning! I did not expect to come home to one of the baits I saw in the video! I'm definitely geeking out right now thanks so much man! It really means so much.
Looks like some of the scraps from the side shaping on the band saw (6:10) would make some interesting spoon type lures. I don't know if they would work being made out of lighter wood instead of metal though. I would love to see you try.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I wanna buy a bait from you and put it up in a frame on the wall 🤷😂 videos are kick ass brother. Keep em coming!!
As a Midwesterner from Missery, my girlfriend and I would love to see a walking stick light/medium light topwater bait! It's not very practical but it's a neat creature we see a lot of at the lakes
2 questions for you Nate. 1 when are you going to complete the bowfin lure we saw in the flathead minnow video, and 2 when are you going to give us an update on the failed bass popper
I'm just commenting for the algorithm. I will say though it's so nice that you don't say "smash that like button and subscribe" That automatically makes me not like the video. I love your content and the way you edit. Thanks for the videos!
Ever considered using a router table for the weight transfer slots? Seems like with the proper table or a plunge router it would really simplify that tedious carving. Flush trim bit would speed up doing large batches like this too. Get one shaped and create perfect replicas much faster
@@handy-capoutdoors4063 not sure either. And I won't post if I can't say here's the link like that. I know what I've done. The flush trim bit will work,100% for sure. The idea of the transfer champer..... I'm not positive on. I could see it catch, missing finger.. that's a bad day!
I promise you that I love,, watching you make lures, wish I had had grown up in your time,, you are a super star in lurer making,,, like the ones I love listen to making music,,
That thumbnail is legit! Adding some commentary, just hit the five minute 30 something seconds... :P After morning duties, its great to relax in the afternoon and feel like we are hanging out with ya carvin' on some wood. Very much a ritual to look forward to during the week. Makes Sunday's easier to deal with (when Monday is work again) and for that, mucho gracias senior! 'Wide S' hehehee.
I've watched your vids for about three years and loved them all. I've got a challenge for you. I watched your duck video and was thinking, I have used baits that rattle, and slap but I've never seen a bait that chirps. If you could figure out a way to do it and then incorporate that into a duck or cricket....that would be awesome!
love your videos. i have learnd a lot from them, i have started making lures too. the other day i completed my first "one day". i caught a 5lb bass on an inline spiner i made!
Dude, just put a piece of newspaper between the blocks of wood when you glue them together, they will pop apart much easier. I love your style and content!
As a luthier I have the same tools as Nate. The erasers work fine but eventually they start sticking to the sandpaper. The cure for this is to use lexan or plexiglass and run it across the sandpaper. So he is already doing this when he sands his lips....
Love the process of making lures and your one of the best how can a person got one of them from you I would love to have one keep up the videos there becoming my favorite to watch
Just watched an art history video on Hans Holbein that pointed out how the appearance of depth in his paintings was created by multiple layers of paint. Yer in good company.
Just a thought, having the weight transfer balls hitting the hook hanger might, over time, work it loose and then the rear hook may come loose in the cast or during a hook set
If you paint a bright color around one of the transfer cavities before glueing them together you should see the paint before the cavity if you get to close taking material off.
A possible way to get a similar effect would be to take the cut blank and a router bit set to only go so deep to route out the channel for the bearings, then finish carving it, and before paint glue a plastic/metal/formable cap over the channel holding the bearings. Would not be as artistic or have same exact effect but could speed up the process greatly.
You should do a lure just like this, but cast molds of both sides so you can pour resin copies put in the weights for transfer system, and glue it together.
I've made similar bait styles via 3d printing and the best lip style is a square bill type. If you want one lmk 😁 they are made from pla and pretty dope looking without any paint
You could make a router jig so you could just vise up the wood and jig then sink a router bit in and fallow the contour of the jig you made for whatever length and width of the jigs so i recommend making several. Or you could ask the guy who has the cnc mill and makes your molds to mill you out a few styles of jigs.
Hi Nate do You think You could make something like sandeel made out of wood ? Here in uk lure fishing is not that popular until summer sea bass and there is lot of soft plastic and very few hard lures. Would it be a little challenge to do a long slim shimmy luere to You? And would it be official in USA
I love waking up to a Marling video, start my day off right I'll be sharing this at church with my buddies
I love going to sleep to them. It's midnight here in Aus
You should do a “Jesus lizard” top water and see if you can make the feet run on the water. Maybe have the feet be connected through an axle and be like some kind of paddle system. That would be EPIC
Hey wait a minute!...that is Lure Up’s idea...but I have to admit, I’d love to see a Marlin baits version!
You have to crank it so damn fast it wouldn't be operational. Just a wall ornament.
You might be on to something there
lmao
Jesus lizard whopper ploper
I thinks it's a fascinating progression watching you experiment with the weight transfer baits. Each one you make them thinner and more detailed and more like the normal wood baits without the weight transfer systems in them. We are literally watching you perfect a new skill day by day!
this is great !
Have you ever tried to make a lure that swims like a dolphin ?
Could work with the weight transfer
That would be cool. Like something that barely floats below the surface with wings that make it pop out of the water when tugged on
A peacock bass lure would be cool they have really interesting coloration which would look really cool on a lure
I’m not a fishing guy, I don’t even own a fishing pole. I’m an artist, a craftsman a creator of things. I want to start fishing just so I can make lure’s 😎
Fishing is a rewarding hobby but like most hobbies it is a slippery slope 🤣 you don’t a pole now but it no time you’d have 15
Do it
@@scOchie Just like that old saying: If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he'll go broke.
Can we get a part 2 of ranking the baits you’ve made I loved that video
The Bob Ross of Lure Makers. It’s so enjoyable to just sit and watch you work.
What a guy! Talk about skills beyond measure. Been watching since the beginning. Keep the bait making up!
You're a master at your trade. You're my favorite master baiter.
Dude! I watched this video on the way to the lake this morning! I did not expect to come home to one of the baits I saw in the video! I'm definitely geeking out right now thanks so much man! It really means so much.
Amazing! happy to send it to you!
Still waiting on a sling shot build. 😂 Lol . I'm sure yours would make all the other slingshot builders jealous as you do with your baits.
Yess! Great bedtime video! it's 11pm here in Australia haha
One of my favourite days when you upload 👍👍
Wow! Just got the bait in the mail and feel super honored! This will hang in the School of Fish garage to inspire our youth anglers. Thanks Nate 💪🏼🔥🎣
You must have a degree in art. chip seems like a great dog and beautiful to
Thanks for showing the guitar!! That's awesome! I gotta try to make me one now! Great video Bubba!
This guys attention to detail while also not giving a damn most the time is quiet impressive
You are a true master at making lures, please don't stop,,
You should make a Silver Carp lure. I find your videos very relaxing. Great job with the baits! Brad.
Looks like some of the scraps from the side shaping on the band saw (6:10) would make some interesting spoon type lures. I don't know if they would work being made out of lighter wood instead of metal though. I would love to see you try.
They make rattle spoons made out of wood
Love watching you perfect a new skill! I feel like I’m learning along with you 😭
Perfect start to a Sunday morning.
Yes!! Marling Baits posted!! Love when 9am hits!!
Love the videos, can't wait to see that one that accidentally made it onscreen a couple weeks ago
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I wanna buy a bait from you and put it up in a frame on the wall 🤷😂 videos are kick ass brother. Keep em coming!!
Your bait painting is on a new level
Wow those baits are so beautiful!
With Maggie's farm playing in the background! Nice!
You are the reason why I started making fishing lures 🙏🏻
I think I would cry if I lost one of your baits. Beautiful work!
The scales are awesome!
You can't beat Western Red Cedar for carving. Thousands of Totem Poles were carved from it up here in the Pacific NW. Seriously great wood. Nice work!
They look great! Love all your lures!👌👍
Loving the Blackberry Smoke keepin’ ya company!
I love watching the progress. Also, liked and commented cause I know it helps.
As a Midwesterner from Missery, my girlfriend and I would love to see a walking stick light/medium light topwater bait! It's not very practical but it's a neat creature we see a lot of at the lakes
Kool looking baits,a man of his words. On to the next baits🐟
You are a master of your craft.

Your baits are sick… you have inspired me so much…
WOOOOOAH do you ever get bored of being so good at what you do? Lol. They are a credit to you sir.👍😷👍
FIN, so awesome to see you. My your growing up buddy.
Your painting on your baits are rlly good I made a lure but had to keep its paint scheme simple
I loved the video keep it up and loved the lure
Beautiful work sir!!

I've seen people make attachments for dremal tools to be used as routers. I don't know off hand if there are any commercially avalible

You're a true artist Nate!
Oh hell yeah what a great way to finish off the night here in Aus haha another dope vid marlin well done

Your lures look great and you have some great ideas man
I promise you that I love,, watching you make lures, wish I had had grown up in your time,, you are a super star in lurer making,,, like the ones I love listen to making music,,
marling baits: "can I keep carving on that?"
finny: throws his dads masterpiece on the ground and walks away
Man you make me love Sunday mornings.
You're an artist this is just your weight transfer/rattle period, sorry antiques roadshow was on at work

Tropical fish series would be really cool! (Imagine the fun facts) Thanks for the amazing content!
Dude, just put a piece of newspaper between the blocks of wood when you glue them together, they will pop apart much easier. I love your style and content!
I love the smell of red cedar…great video as always…😊
Looks like western red cedar to me! Also, they sell some big erasers for disc sanders on amazon, extends the life of your abrasive belts and discs!

Wooow looking great! Wish i could buy one.

So awesome can’t wait for mine to get here!! 🤣🤣🤣
I like this side by side Vibe . The Subtle differences and still the same
Your baits are godly
Just watched an art history video on Hans Holbein that pointed out how the appearance of depth in his paintings was created by multiple layers of paint.
Yer in good company.
Eyes and gills were some of your best in my view... More chip 🐕
These baits look like WOW!!
Really cool lures!!!
You should make a dolphin lure. Love the vids!
These video's are now my Sunday ritual, Along with coffee of course 😂
Another great job!!
Just a thought, having the weight transfer balls hitting the hook hanger might, over time, work it loose and then the rear hook may come loose in the cast or during a hook set

OMG. Finn is so big now. I feel even older now. lol What a cute kid.
VeryAwesome Work Marling. Sir have you ever thought of Getting a Blood Checkup to see if you are getting your paint items in your Blood?
my day i complete love the vids
Hey man, nice baits. I appreciate your painting know how
If you paint a bright color around one of the transfer cavities before glueing them together you should see the paint before the cavity if you get to close taking material off.
OMG, I needed this today
