    Really thorough and systematic explanation! I have searched extensively across youtube. and yours is the absolutely best analysis of these inserts. Will be buying your recommended quiet version!

    I just wanted to add a sort note on the earlier comment I made. I just installed the silencer that is the third one in line in your video. I love the sound and will use it. It still is somewhat louder then the stock exhaust on my Honda Forza 300 which was very quiet and very heavy, but I like to hear the exhaust. I did have to file the inside of the inlet to my Akrapovic muffler as the baffle wouldn't go into the muffler all the way. Thanks again for the great video.

    Great video, you went through a lot of effort to make this! I have a Akrapovic muffler on my Honda Forza 300 and it is not much more then a glorified straight pipe. The Akrapivic mufflers design allows the silencers to go into the inlet side of the muffler as the midpipe has bends which don't allow a silencer to fit into it. I believe this is how the silencers are intended to be installed however possibly your Yoshimura muffler may not have room for the silencer to fit. Thanks again, great job.

    I have the one that you chose in my LeoVince Underbody. It didn't make it quieter I measured 88 dB before and after, BUT the droning is gone and that's what I was looking for. Now I can ride it without an earplug.

    Perfect helpful video.
    I also have a cb300r, I just put a 2" slip on Quill exhaust on there and even with the db killer it has too much BRAP for my tastes.
    I'm not so bothered about being heard, so I'll order up the quietest one you tested.

    After watching this video I recently bought the big boy at 7:12 for my full exhaust (‘12) R6 the other day and like it so much better than my M4 replica exhaust which was very loud and not ideal for town riding since it’ll be awhile before I go back to track again. Bit of a slight acceleration hesitation leaving from a stop and sometimes at high RPM but my ecu is still set pre-cat delete so thinking it’s due to that. Only thing I did was drill small hole in the end cap just in case. But point being, thank you for the comparison and demo 👍

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  3 роки тому +3

      For the 1st one it dampened the sound some on the high end, and the exhaust pretty much sounded the same. The 4th one provided better sound dampening with the closed end and still sounded good, but it didn't fit snug in the 50 mm slip on pipe and ya could hear it rattle in the pipe at times.

    This was a great video. Just out an exhaust on my drz400s and with stock baffle at the tip the noise is perfect but it doesn't quite have that deep sound like it does wide open. But wide open. It's just insanely loud which at low speeds is ok but 55 65mph it's a bit much. Cause of your video I decided to order the first short baffle to try and the long one that really dropped noise down alot. Reslly hoping this helps bring the noise down but maintain that deep sound like it seems to on yours

    you think this inserts will save you from doing a remap?

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  Рік тому +2

      If you're finding that a possible remap is needed due to backfires, decel pops, or lower power after making mods to your bike, then this will not eliminate from doing a remap. It may help a little if you add an insert that adds backpressure that was loss due to installing an aftermarket exhaust. I was actually doing a little research for my Harley Sportster as I recently added a cheap after market Ebay slip-on and it was pretty loud and had decel pops. I found out about the Thunder Torque Inserts (TTI) that adds power back on the low end and may also get rid of the decel pops (tho they don't advertise it as not guaranteed). So, I'm gonna try to add a silencer and the Thunder Torque Insert and hoping for the best. The Thunder Torque Inserts looks pretty promising, but you can also make your own by looking up "lollipop set up on motorcycle exhaust" on UA-cam. However, other threads said the TTI works better than making your own. Below are links to the TTI UA-cam video and their website to purchase.

    thanks for your video, considering your results, i bought the number 2 and 3, ( the number 3 with round tip and bigger holes), and i did't like how them both sounded, the number 2 decreased the sound by 10% or almost nothing, and the number 3 decreased the sound too much, so a got my number 2 and worked it out, i welded a washer of stainless stell on the exit of it with a inner hole of about 20 milimiters and it got so well, it's not so loud and it's not low sound too, it killed a little bit of power, but it did less then the number 3 that kills a lot of power because of the 90 degree the flow is gotta do to find the way out of the pipe, the way the number 2 work the flow is straith foward and in high rpm's the sound appears and it's got so cool in my case, i hope it helps someone else, bye!!!

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  3 роки тому

      Depends on which main head opening you are asking about? The DB Killer and opening end of the Yoshi muffler to the mid-pipe is 51mm. If you're asking about the head pipe to the motor, each bike is different, so gotta measure..

    It would be interesting to know how much power you lose. Also, is the increased back pressure going to cause problems?

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  3 роки тому +2

      I did not notice any reduction in HP or any issue from any increase in back pressure. Any new exhaust is going to have way less pressure than the stock exhaust with the catalytic converter, etc., so these inserts should not impact it much, if at all. Some of these inserts have that honeycomb cat in them. Although, I can't speak for every bike out there.

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, if it fits and you can secure it. Normally, some mufflers come with a db killer at the front hole mounted by a screw, but it was still too loud for the Yoshi I got. The inserts shown on this video will not fit the front hole.

      The first 2 starting at the left are pretty much the same where they only toned down the high end of the rumble some, but louder than the one on the far right that you have where one end is closed. The 2nd from right one reduces the sound a whole lot where there was no rumble at acceleration, so not sure if any of these will work for you..

    does anyone know if they will fit on scooters as well ? I have a 50cc scooter but the manual doesn't indicate the size of the muffler. It says 51mm on some of these so is that the diameter of the exhaust at the point you attach these silencers? thanks. I need something as quiet as possible because I only go riding at night in my local neighborhood and I am concerned about disturbing my neighbors. the scooter is louder that I thought it would be. I am not concerned if there is a drop in speed performance using these, because I am riding slow (I don't need to max out the throttle).

    • @stevofish7
      @stevofish7  3 роки тому

      You'll have to measure the pipe at where you'll insert the silencer and hopefully the silencer will fit all of the way in the pipe. I recommend the 3rd (3rd works the best) and 4th ones to muffle the sound. Thankfully, they're not that expensive on ebay so you can get maybe 2 different ones to try out.

    All of the slip on cans you get from ebay will be way to loud as they are usually designed for modern bikes with a split muffler system. They are made as small as possible to reduce material and shipping costs. Baffles are not a solution as they create too much back pressure and you will lose performance and suffocate the engine. If you want the best running performance and silicencing the factory exhausts are best. Mid pipe baffles make no sense at all unless you have a primary muffler upstream from the secondary muffler/slip on.
    The purpose of the baffle is to trap gasses as long as possible within the muffler to increase sound absorption. If it's done before the muffler you trap gasses within the downpipes which does not serve it's purpose.
