    I just started growing my beard out. I’m Six months out now. I’m approximately 6 inches longer now. I have been trying to shape it. The grain is sharp to my right. I’m using a flat iron to straighten it out. A lot better now. I’m 54. I grow facial hair fast. But never let it this long. I’m planning on letting it grow a lot longer. I’m enjoying this process. The things that has stopped me is my very dry skin under the beard and the grain of the hair growing to my right like I’m in a wind tunnel. The flat iron has corrected it and now it’s getting longer, it’s more straight up and down. Thanks for your videos. Scott

      @beardmanners  7 місяців тому

      Hey Scott. I am glad you are enjoying the journey mate as this is what it is all about. With your skin issue. Try to only wash with beard wash and wash 2-3 times per week. Make sure that you massage the wash into the skin. Over washing can cause a lot of dryness to the skin. Also apply beard oil directly to the skin twice a day (not much, 4/5 pinches or a pipette on each cheek. Then massage into the skin) this would help. The grow issue will eventually grow out and a lot of people suffer with these issues. I did on my chin until my beard got to around 8 inches ish.

    I've read you should wash after everything use balms is that right? If so should be using balm less often?

    • @beardmanners
      @beardmanners  4 місяці тому

      Hey mate. In all honesty it would ultimately depend on the balm. Balms with heavier wax ratio or with poor ingredients etc but a good balm won’t have too much wax and will have good ingredients so will fully soak in over time. If you put a lot of balm in, it might make the beard feel heavy so could be tempting to wash it out but I never worry about washing balm out personally mate.

    My beard is curly wiry like yours the hairs. How long did it take to get yours to terminal length? I haven't let mine grow more then 8 months yet

    • @beardmanners
      @beardmanners  7 місяців тому

      So mine isn’t quite at terminal length yet but I trim it to keep it looking fuller. I am less worried about the length personal and prefer a full beard look but this is just my personal preference for my own beard.

    • @ZacharyTech7
      @ZacharyTech7 7 місяців тому

      @beardmanners I was just asking in reference for me to guess on how long it would take my beard to get to yours length lol. I'm planning to do a whole year longest I've let mine grow is 8 months gets crazy 🤪

    Why aren’t there any videos on how to grow it long? I mean time is what makes it long; but is the super long length from under the chin or from the chin and cheeks? Which part to you trim? Just the neckline or under the chin?

    • @beardmanners
      @beardmanners  7 місяців тому +1

      So the issue with length is that it is pretty much completely dependent on your genes and max growth where as with width there are things you can potentially do to help. Length will ultimately be from the chin. You can see with mine that my cheeks also grow as long as the chin but again that is down to my genetics. A rule of thumb with length is to measure from your bottom lip to the tip of the beard. My advice is to let the neck line grow to the length of your chin hair because this will give you a thicker beard and will help against it look straggly. I hope this helps mate.

      @@beardmanners appreciate the reply. I just went two months and decided to shape it a little. I have good genetics with only two little spots under my lip on each side that doesn’t really grow, but the hairs along the bottom of my lip and starting to grow which should cover that eventually. I am just going to let it go for a few more months then probably go to a barber and watch what he does. I’ve been cutting my own hair for about 10 years, so I know I can do it, but I want to let a pro do my beard after that much time invested. Thanks

  • @vikingstorm32
    @vikingstorm32 7 місяців тому +1

    I like the advice. Not touching the beard for 6 months and seeing what the beard wants to do. That is so true because everyones beard grows differently, and after 6 months, the beard you invisioned in your mind is starting to look like a completely different beard. So maybe you say, ok my genetics or God gave me this bizarre looking beard and maybe ill work off that

    • @beardmanners
      @beardmanners  7 місяців тому

      Exactly that buddy. You need to know what you’re beard wants to do before you plan ahead for its future 😂

    Ok, So did I hear you correctly, Leave the neck beard alone? I'm trying to grow a beard as long as I can. And, I've always heard shave the neck. So, Am I correct, You said leave the neck alone?

    • @beardmanners
      @beardmanners  Рік тому +2

      Hey buddy
      Yes that is correct. If you want your beard to be thick and dense so that it does not look straggly……don’t touch the neck like at all. Also don’t graduate the sides too low. This is why mine is nice and thick.
