a server with a massive railway line around the planet like Snowpiercer, with a daily/weekly supply train spawn for people to derail and loot like proper Space Pirates

I remember finding that while making the RaB Base during Gulf a few weeks back. As a big fan of trains, I approve of this block!

@@wetdog3753 You can't, but the best way to place it is with projectors, get a blueprint with the rail, and remove everything but the rail, then you can blueprint the rail.
Where did you find that block?
If you do train wars, you should make all the tracks rails conform to the same track and get everyone to start in different places. That way they can expand their network and eventually may link it up with an enemy's and have to explore the enemy network with their trains.
Then I do a hidden barricade or fuse a warhead under the rails and let the chaos begin

A TRAIN server would be amazing. Have admins build an in-destructable simple rail system - players can use that + build their own and connect it.

The people that were left behind have to find out how to survive the ice planet that they are on before THEY COME.(the main enemy's just mechs controled by a psychopathic AI and a few raiders here and there)

They are the fastest and safest wat to travel
The people and whatever else that are left have to try and live in the harsh conditions
For a threat you could have different bots that vary differently like mad max cars that are just raiders
Or mechs that are trying to destroy all pockets of human do to a psychopathic AI witch has destroy all way to leave the planet and hunts humans (and raiders bots) for sport on a ice planet

So now that I'm thinking about this I'm just going to make this in to a campaign and try it out and if you want you can also use this for whatever else I don't care I like your content and would love to see something cool done with the trains

1: Material Transportation by flying and rover is impractical. i.e.: Impossible to traverse terrain/ Super High Gravity? Low Thrust?
2: Iron Nickel and Silicon from stone is reduced significantly and Veins of each resource are extremely sparse but extremely large/high yield. High Value ore is common but mostly useless.
3: A huuuuuuuuuge prebuilt, indestructible railway with super long stretches of parallel same direction tracks linking areas with tons of switches and then building restricted to very limited sections of dead-end/dead-loop track.
TRAIN SEASON! Hell yes Aaron. Build a train track on the server that is indestructible (admin-> Block damage off) and have players use that.
Also maybe NO permanent bases ? So your train IS your base - then when you go offline, you stop it and activate forcefield around it ? This would force players to migrate from resource node to resource node - like, from iron to Nickel to iron again ?
Maybe players can also build their own tracks ? It would be like Metro: Exodus, where people tour the server on their train
Won't hurt performance - it's only a small grid with no functionality.
Train bases like the aurora from metro. That would be cool and risky how would we warn people are on the same track and about to collide ?
@@LastStandGamers Good point - I have 4 solutions: Good track ahead visibility or have sidetracks for evasion every few 100 meters or mandatory beacons or admin built warning lights that train is coming also a good way to avoid collision is to blow up the enemy train :)

Just make some kind of 'rail siding' with a switch every few kilometers so that people can pull off to the side when they go offline and make a rule that stationary trains on the siding are off-limits to attacks(kinda like a 'No Offline-Raiding' rule). And maybe some general 'No-Fight-Zones' like bigger stations or something.

That train is wayy smoother than anything I thought possible in SE. Great job to the creator! Here's to hoping Keen decides to go forward with an official rail system :D
Also I definitely need to learn the technique they used to make the curves so gradual like that. That seems like such a useful skill to have. It would make it so much easier to make proper roads in the game.
Make it like the metro game series where you use trains to get around and do like a faction vs faction.
Yes, love this idea. Its all i could think about when he said " Make a train season" Pre-made map all underground, Factions would fight over important points of interest like big ore veins, surface points, Key cross roads, ect.

@@LastStandGamers maybe 2 parrallel tracks similar to this video (I would make it a bit shorter) and some added cover for the trains. The trains go in opposite directions so they have a short window to fight each other while they are close and some time to do repairs and upgrades to their trains when the trains are out of range or behind a hill or something. The trains could go through some ore mines on the way for the crew to resupply materials if it's done in survival.
Train season: Giant, indestructible tracks, something like 4-8 usable tracks across, that join up all of the stations. You could have cranes at each station that people can use to move trains/switch tracks. And then between the stations you could have the tracks diverge from each other so there were plenty of areas for people to build a base near the tracks. It would be a lot of work to build it all, but I reckon it would be a lot of copy/pasting. Getting all the connectors to join up would be the tedious part I'd say.
If you wanted to make trains a viable transport method (well, reduce the viability of everything else) you could remove thrusters and only have the small wheels available. Maybe even disable turning altogether? People could still use rotors to make vehicles for away from the tracks, but I think you'd see a lot of creativity.

Yeah. Both of those take absurd ideas and do an incredible job of making them real.
For a train server you could make the tracks invincible and have them placed all around the planet, however that would be a bit difficult with the conveyors
Also there would need to na track switching system, little crane couldbe easiest
How have I not noticed this? This is awesome! I don't even care how much hassle it would be to burrow through mountains I would do it.
Easy way to stabilize it for large canon, make the train ride on multiple sets of rails, the Germans had a few railway guns in ww2 that rode on 4 sets of rails, so you'd have to pick a gun that would make it worth the effort, but that would be interesting to say the least
We had exactly 2 of those. The Sondereisenbahngeschütz(Special Railway Gun) ''Schwerer Gustav'' and Sondereisenbahngeschütz ''Dora''. Their tracks had to be custom built just for them and to aim horizontally they had to be pulled through a curve by 4-6(!) heavy cargo steam locomotives. Also, they had a caliber of 800mm and a rate of fire of 1 round about every 40 minutes.

An interesting idea trains should try and make a train roundhouse if you could make that then trains could be a staple on servers indestructable tracks where players can build there own trains and have war on the tracks XD
I hope keen actually implements and improves upon this block, and add proper turning tracks and whatnot, it shouldn't even be particularly difficult they could even add a rail wheel block for properly connecting to it
My brain is exploding with all the ideas that a rail system can include! Open-top ore cars that either tip to empty to open and dump out the bottom. An automated rail system that makes programmed stops at the automated mining site you have established around the map. A refining station on a multiplayer server where the players can't build the big Refineries, only the smaller ones, so they have to trade with the central Refinery which can be a fortress to deter raiders.
The mind boggles at the ideas!
I like the idea of a train world, and you can only battle when you're on your rails. It would be coo to see people building their rails out towards other locations, and then when the time comes to get resources, or attack someone else they run down the track on their trains and have train battles lol
better yet, you should launch a community project to fully build out /terraform a planet and connect all their cities. That would be impressive. bonus if you can get trains, planes, boats, and automobiles going.
I really hope these become official. I would love to have a huge ship with a tram system inside, a la Dead Space.

The rails would actually make the 1x1 wheels make sense... Server idea: "Great Train Robbery" with two factions: Rail Barons and Thieves.
There were rails at least as far back as 2015. My guess would be that they've tried a couple times to implement them but haven't gotten it stable enough for approval.
Why not do a cooperative season, and try to connect like Death Stranding? Start the factions far away from each other, and have them work together to connect a bunch of different resource sites, maybe to build a massive central hub where they all connect. Galactic Central Station. Enemies could be trying to prevent the building, so defenses and drama are still plentiful.

I feel like this is relatively recent, if it wasn’t obvious enough. I’m constantly searching through the blocks for what I can use to build and I’ve never seen this rail. I hope they decide to add turns as well so it’s easier to set up tracks. You could also use hinges with this set up to make some increments and then make the track a station
That and switches of course :D
regaurding train server play, its funny this is being brought up in SE because its actually been a thing in the M.E Modding community for a few years now. we play on servers now with large vast railroads, and literal world wars, hahaha

each team is set to build their own snowpiercer type train that's just intended to go for as long as it can, team combat events are set so that each teams base has a track activated from their base to a central multiple-laned ring. Whichever team's train survives that first round, becomes the king of the hill. trains will need to carry their own resources and manufacturing systems to repair/refit after leaving the base, as they're intended to last as long as they can without outside assistance once they become king of the hill.
to stabalize the navy gun you could add some hing piston rotor contraption with the landing gear to hold the rail cart in place have it fold down hold the car in place fire release the landing gear and just move and do it all again

They need to make proper train rail blocks, and have it so some are extremely long. Like 25, or 50, blocks long but have it only count as a single block to keep total block count low
You could do an event where players have to drive up to a a moving train, board it and then steal something from the train.
Maybe even a whole wagon.
Or put something on the train, like a nuclear warhead, setting it to explode inside whatever secret base the train is driving through.
Love the Idea but sadly I can only play on Console for rn so do you know if this block is featured in the workshop there ? Or can you find the block manually ?
We hope Keen makes the tracks official, and that they add in some train wheels meant for use on them.

Imagine seeing a Train yard like maybe by Rouen (France) or various other Places in Europe or the U.S. and then you see Several B-17E, F and G Flying Fortress Heavy Bombers coming in for a Bombing Run at 20,000 Feet (6,153 Meters) in the Air with their Classic Combat Box Formation dropping Hundreds of Bombs made from Small Grid Warheads. It'd be "The Big Week" all over again LMAO!
The rail block has been hidden for years. But never thought someone could make a usefull track out of it.

Building the rails close enough to each other to be able to fight would also make for an interesting challenge
For this to work, make the floor lava, so only if you on tracks you are safe
Now if only you can bend those tracks without using all those expensive connector blocks.
I'd been doing my railroading in Stormworks recently, I can't play Space Engineers since 1.193 when they utterly broke the gamepad controls for me and gave me no way back. Look, I'm a 6,200 hour player, and you made it impossible for me to play keen. I had tried to make a monorail many years ago but it was just not reliable enough.
Man, if you could figure out how to make a switch rail and have various massive branching tracks, I could see mercenary train wars trying to transport stuff from station a to b while getting intercepted on parallel tracks. Or like, do some crazy thing where the goal is to put your train on a ship, launch it into orbit and have a stellar rail. Or maybe, the goal is to start a rail network on another planet, but you have to haul all the infrastructure from the starting planet because you don't allow factories offworld...
That last idea also means that if you wreck your cargo ship on another world or in space, you're either SOL, get a teammate to pick you up, or commission a rival group to fetch you for a fee.
So you can have it so that there are multiple tracks that go along the map that can intersect or something like that and you can give the players the leeway to build small rovers that could be stored within the back of some transport cars, basically make it like snow piercer where they have to live on the train as a rule, but there could be major landmarks along the tracks at some point that they could stop exit the train and scavenge resources in, and to create a bit of a PVE element you could create drones that could survey those locations to add a little bit of danger outside of the player element.

Extended barrel rail gun... Where do you get those blocks again? You could stabilize that artillery piece with another full cabin behind it. Or just build the trailer with some more artificial gravity in the back. Anyway, nice video.
Ok funny story about trains, a train server and all of dats, i actually run a trilogy of Minecraft servers that are based around Air, Sea , and Land/rail combat. When i saw this and read some of yalls comments it reminded me of that and i can already see possibilities for story driven encounters on the tracks. ie: two trains weaving between mountans filling eachother with red hot lead, while snow and rock tumbles down ravines and caverns making every engagement more harrowing then the next! If you do make a rail season, you can bet that i will be watching!

Here's an idea for the server: Disable cargo containers. The train will have to transport the raw ore in ball form. Then unload unto refiner, which in turn ejects ingots onto another train, and so on.
Someone on UA-cam played with the no conveyors allowed restriction and came up with some interesting manual conveyer systems. Trains would play well into that restriction. Severe engineering challenge though.
That just gave me an idea for using trains as cargo drones.same goes for the cargo trucks as drones. besides,should be easy enough to set up using the Sam Auto pilot mod.
Have a central hub and have a rail going to everybody's base, that way people can build a way to get onto the track to another's base. Via crane or other method

Tou should have a section of safe zone gate on the tracks that open up gradually to allow people a build phase, and then lower the gates and first team to either kill the enamy train, or bring the loot back to base before being destroyed lol. Maybe a small block limit to make the matches short and sweet. :) or it could maybe get insane complicated..
You could make a non combat oriented scoreing goal of some kind with trade and economy.. like a civil engineering type world maybe.. with water mod and a shipping yard, mines with underground tunneling machines that lay track.. I'm going to build a gantry system for a loading dock!
I mean where the track meets the shipping dock and cargo containers come off boats or a landing pad where shipping containers are received from space/air freight. Trucking even.. just factories all over the place and huge thorium deposit in space to cause a space race for end game.
You should take a look at Equinox's Medieval Engineers Rail mod. Depending on how long ago this block was created it could have been keen trying to create a vanilla version in SE.
I mean you can do that, but this guy on youtube, he's got a survival thing going on where his whole world has rails, if you're into that go look up CGT-CREATIVE, he doesn't speak english but he does his best translating, but he's done stuff like switches, stations, all sorts of engines, even got himself a tracklayer, and loads of workshop items to build your own, such as template tracks and cariges made from non dlc-non modded items. Now this comment looks a bit of a promotion but it's not, I genuenly enjoy his work but people haven't seen him even though he been at it for 3 years
Someone needs to do a tunnel through a mountain. As simple or as complex as you like it.

maybe use some landing gears for the big turret so the train has to stop then the landing gears get deployed to counter the recoil.
You might get away with doing a train world if it was a Hollow Earth setting. Think of a flipped world with broken cities connected by Mad max style roads and raised rail system. Railways would be the more safe of the two because the Mods control them and have Drone/Armor trains patrolling them.
A metro 2033 style metro network where players use rail cards and trains to fight their way to victory by conquering all the metro stations
I hope they add trains to the game properly. Right now monorails are so annoying to work with and often clang. Maybe one day we can even have train systems on moving grids...

Be neat if they had tracks for bullet trains, and roller coaster esc tracks with breaks and such that lets you roll on its axis, break and go on high inclines etc.

Train track and wheels would fit really well in game like space engineers. I want small cargo train in my moon base :) It might need a lot of work though and people would most likely use it something else than intended. Like launch system for weapons or really large doors or elevator.
Well that's the magic of a creative game like this. Using parts in unanticipated ways. Stuff like the Interior Corridor piece being a great thruster vent.
Idea: have a pre-built rail network to resources and the players must build trains. (Have safe stations for offline players)

My guess is the rail block is in place for a rail system for stations like they have for sparks of the future station.
This is just an idea if people want to go forward with this maybe attach anchors to the train that way if you ever do attach weapons to the train it will stabilize and make it easy to fire
Bit late to the party. But could these hidden rail blocks be used to create, say, an orbital elevator? Or even just regular elevators.

so, using the deadlands/badlands is an obvious go to, having a few massive and ruined cities with the rail way being the only remnant of a long bygone era, and the scavengers are all that remains in hopes to escape this fate by going into the stars, so major story beats is carving out land for you and yours, harvesting the abundant city scrap fighting with other scavengers that use mini tanks or the like, not as much Mad Max, but more like Military surplus scavenged by the survivors of the great war.
then the next beat being constructing a vessel that will sustain you for the rest of time, take off from atmo, be able to mine or store miners, and survive assaults from potential threats in the stars.
BUT during this word gets around that theres a group making a ship to escape, so there are scouts that wait and roving bands that try their luck to take what youve gained.
i dunno, i love your content and i know whatever you make will be great! hopefully this at least inspires you to decide whatcha want :)

Idea for server. There is a war zone where there are multiple factions that are not allowed to mine. This could be the northern side of the planet. And there is a mining zone on the opposite side of the planet. In the mining zone are factions that provide and transport resources for the ones in the war zone. Around the equator there should be a distance between the war zone and the mining zone so that no one can build a military base right next to a mining base. Also limit how many resources can a military faction store. So they need to buy stuff more frequently.
