  • For my own sanity, I had to test to see if this tunnel drilling rig worked in a small scale. Thanks for watching!

    Brilliant, neat straight tunnels, speed control everything.

    it might be a good idea to put a sensor block in front of the tires set to either stop or reverse direction on those rotors if it detects that there aren't any blocks just incase your tunneling device runs ahead of the assemblers and you run out of steel plates as a safety.

    I built something similar, a tunnel machine that also welded up a full road behind it. It is slower as it uses landing gears to pull and push its way forward, but completely autonomous so I can do other things while it works away.

    Interior plates of interior blocks take less iron per item, might be a better thing to use/test

  • @yumiko4557

    what if you add grinders on the back to help reuse some of the iron plates that probably wuld be enough to keep up the welding

    • @srg08
      @srg08 3 роки тому

      Well it depends on the 4 speed factors. First and foremost the speed of the mining machine then speed of the assembler, the speed of welder and finally speed of grinder.
      Here why those speed become important
      1) speed of miner if it’s too fast the welder won’t be able to weld enough and grinder will chew through to fast and miner will drop.
      2) if the miner is just the right speed for near complete the weld, the basic assembler either will need more unit to produce what needed or have a assembler with speed modules for faster production.
      3) welding/grinding if speed is equal then it game over miner will drop unless you go in world setting and reduce grinding speed while maxing the welding to prevent mining drop

    I personally am more a fan of systems that use pistons and merge to the main grid, that way you only need a short projection and it can go for an infinite length. It would also continuously connect to the main grid, that way you can make it lighter by putting the refineries and power generation off it as well. Basically having your entire main bases infrastructure at your disposal.

  • @Its_just_Dave.
    @Its_just_Dave. Рік тому

    Interesting idea having it create a track that runs through the center of the machine. Would be neat and more effective if it instead created a road underneath it that it could drive on and future vehicles could drive on afterwards. The center post almost seems as if it would just need to be removed later for tunnel to be effective for traveling vehicles.

    How can I use this in a mining rig, like something I can just have go while I relax and never have to worry about steel plates again? Or even modify it so it could have other drills that branch off of it and I could mine even more?

  • @mworld
    @mworld 3 роки тому +1

    I take it you set the assemblers to continuous mode making the steel plates?
    Also, looks like there is room to add one more speed upgrade to the assemblers.

  • @tatehenson3611

    Do we think with two refineries and assemblers and if had more drills collecting it would keep up on welding, built something similar but not tested yet now im worried as i have welders to do two roller tracks instead of one and also weld full runnel as i go, 6 blocks high 15 wide.

    more vertical drills would A: make the tunnel look cleaner, since the 2 drills each made the top and bottom uneven and B: you would get a bit more stone and by that be able to make a bit more plates.. good job tho

      @@Peoples_Republic_of_Cotati Yes and yes...with caveats.
      .
      The drill limit basically means all 5 have to be forward-facing, and will have to be set to collect rather than bore (or there's no way you'll get enough stone to make the basic blocks). But, you don't actually need the front of the rig to be "open" as it is in this video. The projection can go through the craft itself with no issue. So long as the welders are behind the drills, and the guide-wheels are behind the welders, there's no issue at all. Also, to make sure you don't risk any gaps in the guideway, you can make it one block wide instead of two. So long as the wheels are done properly, it should remain stable.
      .
      For diagonals, you'd need one or two rotors to start with. One to adjust the horizontal, and one for the vertical if necessary. Set the angles, lock the rotors...let 'er rip.

  • @BlazinNSoul

      mOUntin [iPa phonetics] ou is the accented voul so the t should follow that.
