- My 2018 x5m drivers door soft close function stopped working a few days ago. I could hear the motor trying to pull the door but there was no actual door action present. I got an el cheapo ebay soft close motor and had the factory unit replaced. Overall took me about an hour start to finish, but now i am sure i can do it in 20-30 minutes. Worst part was the actuator cable but once the white/tan plastic cover is removed and door lock loosened this provided enough slack to be able to snap the new cable in place.
Mine was replaced under warranty. If it happens again, now I know it's something I can fix myself since warranty has expired! Thanks so much for your demo!
Yes it is not bad, definitely can be a diy project
Awesome that you took the time to record and share. Thanks!
Thanks, im sure there will be more and more of these issues coming up, so far no info available that i could find anywhere
Great tutorial!
My driver door have the same problem
I’ll do it myself with this video
Yes, its not that bad to do, hope you get to save some money and learn more about your car. Can brag to your friends that you work on your own stuff as well !
Great info, now I know what’s wrong with my door !!!!
Glad i can help, i have a very nice part coming up for the f85 /f15 50i community coming up next week hopefully, be on lookout!
👏
My driver side door doesn't work either. Looks like a common problem. I will likely be doing this myself. Would you recommend replacing whole unit or just try to fix frayed wire? I will definitely be using this video for repair.
There is no way you can fix the frayed cable, too much stress on it, id replace the part and be done with it. If you try to repair the cable it would become shorter as well, likely would alter the operation angle
@@Dentprotony Thanks, good advice.
Nice video, thanks!
Can you please provide the actuator part number?
Hope it helps someone, thank you for your support!
@@Dentprotonydoes it happen to have the part number of the actuator?
@@npodrimaj i think I attached link to it in the description
