    I love making tile sheets.
    Also, I'm putting my one game on hold for a bit, at least until version 3 comes out, I'm dealing with too many issues with animation limitations, so I figured I'm gonna work on a few simple projects in the meantime, just to get things going.

    Very very cool stuff, as always! I love that you are making tutorials for zelda like games! As a suggestion: Things that would be interesting could be things you usually use to fill an interesting dungeon with: different enemies, maybe with different attack types to diversify the experience, chests, triggers, small riddles, traps, all that sort of stuff. I would be very exited how your approach to that would be.. ;)

    Great video, thank you. Your map images look larger than the 256 x 256 limit mentioned on the GB Studio website, is this because you're using the v2 beta? I'm very new to GB Studio, so sorry if this is a daft question.

    • @RobertDoman
      @RobertDoman  3 роки тому +1

      I think the limit is 256 by 256 tiles, not pixels. but I could be wrong. 256 pixels seems very small

    I still don't get how you were able to get the trees to overlap. Every time I try to overlap something, it blocks out whatever is behind it and doesn't look organic at all. I'm also not sure what the "transparent" color even does because it still blocks out the other objects. Hmmmm

    • @RobertDoman
      @RobertDoman  Рік тому +1

      The purple 'transparent' colour is only for sprites. When making backgrounds, to make things overlap, use true transparency (alpha value) and use layers to put trees on top of the grass for example.
      Good luck!

      @@RobertDoman Ohhhhh ok, thank you! I'm very new to all of this and your tutorials have been great. The GB Studio limit for unique tiles lies at 192. So wouldn't it be better to create for forest, beach, city or cave zones an own tileset?
    Because it kinda feels like as if it would be enough to just work with one tileset the entire game, but that would be pretty limiting, right? I think Zelda also uses multiple tilesets for different zones. Oh, and is there a way to combine multiple tilesets for one scene?

  • @jamesstrength21
    @jamesstrength21 Рік тому +1

    Is there a limit to how many if or else logics and stuff for a single sprite? I'm asking if I could potentially have a sprite that potentially says 1 of 100 different responses set to a random variable.

    • @RobertDoman
      @RobertDoman  Рік тому +1

    Not sure if asked but, how many “tile sets” can you utilise in total? You made multiple scenes off of the one but I just want to know the limitations of if I would be able to build one for say indoor or outdoor or be limited and need to squeeze everything onto one? Keep up the great work, I’ve learnt a lot!
