Thank you! This worked for me, and I was able to set up two sources: one for my webcam and one for my game capture. Is there a way to record these separately but at the same time? Like have them both as stand alone clips recorded at the same time.Thank you!
Quick stupid question. I have been recording my entire stream thinking that I needed to do that so that replays would capture. I think I just found out that I only need replay buffer enabled and "automatically start replay buffer when streaming" but don't actually need the whole stream to be recorded. So to confirm. - Always Recording on streamlabs does not need to be enabled to capture replays - Streams will still upload to twitch, youtube, kick, etc without the need to record the full stream in Streamlabs If someone could confirm this for me, i'd be super greatful. I think I have been using way more CPU than I needed to. LOL
Yeah you don't need to record while streaming. Just have the replay buffer on, start your stream and make a hot key to save your replay. It will then save to a folder you choose. And yes the stream will save as a vod on the platform you stream on.
Rewatch the video as you may have missed a step. If you are just wanting to record then you'll put all your sources in the scene like normal and hit start recording. The file path you have in obs settings is where you'll find the video when you hit stop recording. If you are wanting to just use the replay buffer then still setup your scene with all your sources > make sure start replay buffer is on > make sure you have the hotkey setup correctly in the settings and you just press the hotkey when you are ready to record. Let me know if you still have issues.
I’m having a problem with it unless I’m confused, it’s not recording the past X amount of seconds it’s just working as a start record button essentialy
You might have a hot key mixed up. A simple solution is just click on Start reply buffer manually in streamlabs then set the save replay buffer hot key to something else and only hit the replay buffer save hot key button.
When played on-stream, does it also play the audio from the replay or is it muted? I hope it's the latter. Having the replay echo the audio on stream after hiding Instant Replay it can be annoying.
I was like whh it doesnt save the last 30sec after i hit the button, now i know it shows the 30sec before i push the Replay button to record Right? Thanks
Nice1. Thank you! I was looking for that option. Did i understand correctly that its kind of a ‚backrecording‘ so i only have to use this instead of recording 3 hours of gameplay and then use only some 1 minute sections?
yeah this is much easier. Instead of recording for 3hrs, then going through 3hrs of footage; you just hit the hotkey for the moment you want to capture and it will clip it for you in the highest quality.
@@quadbears You can either use Streamlabs to record (if you are familiar with setting up your stream its the same way but you record instead) or you can use your Nvidia geforce application to record if you have an Nvidia graphics card. I know in the video I mention how to set this instant replay with the streamdeck via hotkeys, but wasnt sure if that is what you are referring to when you ask about recording using streamdeck.
If you are wanting to add the replay buffer to your Elgato Stream Deck, check out this video ua-cam.com/video/muVcEXgd2U8/v-deo.html
here in 2025 almost, and this is the most easy tutorial ever!
Thank you for the compliment. I am glad I could make it easy to understand.

You're welcome! Glad the video helped. Unfortunately you can't split the feeds. It will only be able to record one feed.

How do I record the screen when im not streaming? This didn't work.

Can you custom save or where does the instant replay file save to (particular folder), and view it on your computer?
Yes. Go to the recording tab in the settings and pick the folder to save it to
@@CreoVox thanks

I'm not sure since I don't have it show on screen. I just record clips with it.
Same way to do it on obs studio?
Yup same way

Right?
Thanks
Correct. It shows the 30 seconds before the button press.
Make a stream deck vid pls :)
Should be out tonight or tomorrow.
The video is now available.
"Showing my age here" I laughed haha :D
Nice video.

Perfect! Did you ever get around to showing how to record using Streamdeck?
There is a few ways to do it. Are you recording pc games or console games?
