Great instructional videos! The only part I didn't get is when you ask the question which videos would you like to be notified on and the answer you go to roles and clock UA-cam ping but I didn't see where you showed how to set those roles up. Does anyone know how to set that up?
Can I ask - after setting up the Default Channels why some are in blue and others grey? I wanted to add more to the default list but they remain grey. Update: I think I worked it out myself, I believe it's because they are added to resources so I can't have them as defaults.
so I thought this was a follow up video from your other one? now I have to make new new channels and category's to follow this video. ugh. i need your help please.
I have a question. I’m trying to make my discord members have to be directed to my rules channel & react to an emoji before gaining access to the other channels. What video should I watch?
I have a video here on that, its a little outdated and used mee6 for it, but still gets the job done ua-cam.com/video/7kDQqKGPwg4/v-deo.html Honestly though, discord's rules screening feature that i touched on towards the start of this video is much more efficient for this though. Highly recommend using that instead!
They won't get a "notification" for it necessarily. At the bottom when answering the questions, it will show them what roles they are getting when they choose their answer(s) tho!
Great info! very helpful. I'm setting up a members-only server for the customers of my online business, and I'd like them to provide their Order # before being approved manually by my team and allowed into the channel, can this onboarding achieve that or do I still need a utility bot for it? If so, which utility bot would you recommend? Thank you!
In my preview its asking users to chose their assigned role - why is that? I'm using the Sapphire bot but in my preview I am noticing that being asked which I find odd.
I tried to do this but I dont have the "Onboarding" category for some reason. Any idea why that might be? I did exactly as you said in your other video.
When you select the channels at the very top and they're greyed out, members CANNOT view them. I tried it with a separate account. they always hide no matter what. the only way to fix this that i've found is to disable onboarding.
I have a couple hundred people in my server already.. My Question is , once I set this up how do the people who are already there get the pre join question rolls?
the role is the notifications! So whenever i post a video here on youtube, in my discord server, i post the video and tag the @VideoPings role, and anyone that has claimed that role will get a notification for that message. To setup the role itself, just go to Server Settings > Roles and you can create new roles there
Hey boss! I love your work. Has been very helpful. But. I just did the onboarding process and realized the server guide moves channels out of there categories and now I cannot access anything to change what I put in the server guide itself. How do I edit the onboarding process. It won’t even let me turn it off and on?! Panic mode enabled 😮
Yea I dont use the server guide personally because any channels you put in it I'm pretty sure get removed from the actual channel list and are accessible through server guide only. To edit this, go to Server Settings > Onboarding and you can edit everything here, even disable server guide if you want. And thank you for the kind words!
It won't give existing users the pop up, as that only happens upon joining, but they will still be able to select roles via the "channels and roles" button that will be at the top of the server. It's best to just send out an announcement for your existing members letting them know to get there to claim the new roles you setup
Some of my default channels aren't showing up for members when they join, neither can be selected from "channels and roles" section (they don't appear). But if they select "show all channels" settings they can see them. What should I do?
Do these channels happen to be on your Server Guide as Resource channels? If so, resource channels don't appear on the channel list and only in the Server Guide address
you can't, the whole purpose of this feature is for open selectable roles by members when they join. If it needs to be approved by an admin, then you just need to have a channel where users request a role and you then give it to them or dont give it to them
You can, they are just in a different place. Server Settings > Safety Setup > DM And Spam Protection > Members must accept rules before they can talk or DM
this is a feature that you cant really setup for a server with all channels locked behind a role. It requires a minimum of 5 open chatting channels that anyone with no roles can access, so you would need to have that to set this up

Great Video!! I was just left with one question, how does the user actually receive the notifications once they obtain that role?
They won't get a "notification" for it necessarily. At the bottom when answering the questions, it will show them what roles they are getting when they choose their answer(s) tho!
i copied dem rules ! YOU A BLESSING BRO

when making the roles for the notifications, all permissions are suppose to be turned off correct? thats the only thing that was kind of glazed over
When assigning the UA-cam Pings role, how do you make it so that the users get notifications to those channels? The role itself, how do you set it up?
the role is the notifications! So whenever i post a video here on youtube, in my discord server, i post the video and tag the @VideoPings role, and anyone that has claimed that role will get a notification for that message.

how do i get it to so on the desktop of discord and select from there as not showing up
stuck at stage 5 of the onboarding default channels are red with action required an questions has warning next to it saying 15/21
Will the onboarding only work for new members or will it pop up for existing members to have these options?
It won't give existing users the pop up, as that only happens upon joining, but they will still be able to select roles via the "channels and roles" button that will be at the top of the server. Great
Thanks for the walkthrough :)
For some reason, my server rules aren't prompting before the questions option.
the rules screening is prompted after all of the questions are answered!
@@Gehsture got it! Thanks!! Now, what I do think is odd... I wish there was a way to disable users from toggling channels...
Howd you create the Channels & Roles channel?
It's automatically created after setting up pre join questions in onboarding!
@@Gehsture that's awesome :)
Can you do a dyno bot tutorial?
Bro on mobile IT DOESNT say onboarding Helpppppp
Cmon!!!!
this feature isn't available to setup on mobile, has to be done on PC
@@Gehsture or go on web and make sure you have It so that it lets you be there and have desktop mode on.
I am the God of knowing stuff
Alright 👍
“Thanks”
I am having an issue trying to edit the rules. Doesn't seem like im able to edit them after the on boarding is active?
You can, they are just in a different place. Server Settings > Safety Setup > DM And Spam Protection > Members must accept rules before they can talk or DM
can i somehow skip the part with 7 channels?
Unfortunately you have to meet those requirements
I followed this and my reaction roles won’t show up in my “roles” tab let alone at all
Love your videos, keep it up man!
Thank you!
Thank you!!!!!
