Lousy background noise, but one of the most perfect videos depicting an outbard gear-oil change i have ever seen. kudos!
you make this look relatively easy, thanks for the tips!
You do the top screw first and then setup a drip pan below...then change out the washers every time..if they crack no party is over..
Hey thanks man really help alot
Great walk through! Just curious, where can you get those screw seals?
good video and any oil is any 80w/90 gear oil or hypoid 90
Well guys he makes it look easy cause it kinda is.the hardest part of this job is getting the screws loose..ps don't lose them lol..
Need to open top plug back up after tightening the bottom one and top off all the oil lost until it over flows again.
That creates air bubbles, the Yamaha owner’s manual does not say to do that for that reason.
did u start your engine for 5 mins before you commenced draining the oil?
"Once you screw in the top screw, it creates a vacuum so oil won't come out the bottom hole."
Takes finger off bottom hole. Oil comes pouring out.
Can you like fill vice versa
Thank you
Do you get your sealing/gasket at your local dealership or online? I cant find a replacement for my plugseals ;(
Reinier Schippers what kind a motor do you hafe?
Ebay !
I see you used a brand that is not yamalube. Has it ever caused damage to your lower unit or does it perform the same?
you do not have to use yamaha lube any oil will do
Oh my God...I just met a vvvv young ,,that boat guy"...how old r u fellow in the up footage? 18 years old...
Good luck!!!
What is the frequency for changing this oil on a yamaha 2 stroke 9.9
1 year or 200 hours
Honestly I’ve heard of people doing this every 100 hours to as little as every 70 hours
Is it normal that oil is coming out of that litle hole under your oil level screw?
no he didn't do it right..
He did it correctly
Is there a possible way I could do this without the specific tool
Yes just get the proper screw driver and you can get the pump at Walmart just make sure you get a 32oz bottle of gear lube and the correct gear lube for your outboard it's easy to do👍😊
Should be level
Can you fill it from the top
adish jagessar no
No always pump from the bottom
engine is not level
O.k. i watched. I will do mine now..,,.....go get an ice cold corona now 🇺🇸
Why wouldnt you pump from top and have the screw in at the bottom?
mendezjc77 so the oil doesn’t mix with air, if you pump it from the bottom the oil rises to the top oil level plug pushing the air out
mendezjc77 you should! D’oh!
Bodi Watson no you shouldn’t doh
Always pump from the bottom never the top
Also because gear oil is a heavy oil, try pouring it in through a staw from the top hole(!) It will really suck... and you get lots of air bubbles trapped in the oil so.... much quicker and less bubbles bottom up.
Why not fill from top..why you do you did
With a pump you would have the system sealed and air would be forced into the bottle. Filling from bottom helps ensure most air is out
Always fill from the bottom
I have always fill from the top, never had a problem in 30 years......
It seems like that would be the easiest way to do the job and not lose any oil
Always pump from the bottom
That’s like saying “I’ve smoked for 30 years and haven’t got cancer”
Yamaha says NOT to pump from top as it creates air bubbles. You always pump from the bottom...call your local Yamaha dealer and ask...
эмульсия?
When you are already on the video, you eat your teeth beforehand, not brush your pigs out of your teeth, watch the video and you will hear how it feels. Without resentment, it is disgusting to the senses
Stop making those sounds..
