- Can I build a Pond from an IBC??
Hi everyone and a Happy New Year. Today I decided to see if I could put together an above ground pond using an IBC (Plastic container in a steel cage). We have a couple as we are looking at doing a hydroponics system in the future. I had fun doing this and it cost very little as we had the old wood from an old deck that I took up. In the next few weeks I ca show you how things are going.
Have a great week and see you all next week.

nice video im been researching different way to use the ibc as a koi growing on tank dropped you a subbed happy fish keeping
Cheers Buddy. Tanks is still going strong. Fish doing well and had no issues at all.
Great video. I have want a pond so bad and this seems simple enough to build. Thanks for the idea and video!
No worries. The pond is still going strong with fish and plants.
@@brookvalleylife724 working on locating a ibc tank. All of the ones I found either had chemicals in it. Or the people are trying to get rich reselling it. lol
Underated channel
Nice idea and a good cheap way to make a fish pond. The pond is like would be 2m long - any thoughts on how to join 2 IBC’s (not through the taps!) by som large ducts / solvent weld type flanges etc.
making a bigger pond would make the container flimsy, other than water pressure any ideas how to overcome that??
I had thought of and acrylic tube and some push through seals, with maybe some sealant just in case. If they are kept in their cages then they wouldn't be flimsy at all.
Do you have a C9 for the green box on the back of the ute ?
No mate just the box i'm afraid
Did you lose much strength with cutting the IBC? If you wanted a higher garden pond (i have dogs that like to swim) do you have reinforce for the higher volume of water. Great video - thank you for sharing :-)
Hi Ben. As you can see I removed about a quarter and left within the cage so lost very little strength. I have a Lab/Retriever cross and she has not got into it. I would say mine is about 2/3rds full, so can hold the water easily. Cheers
@Brook Valley Life thanks for getting back to me . Another question did you use the bottom drain to feed your filter?
@@benhortonben9105 no I didn't. I only use it to drain the tank if I need to.
Does IBC base rust?
Hi. In my environment the IBC base does not rust.
You didn't even show how you done the wood
Just screwed together some 2x4 and then clad with oil decking.
