      They probably used the usual -23 LUFS normalisation usual in TV productions while UA-cam is aiming for ~13 LUFS.

      if it where a bit low i would turn the volume a bit up, but this so very low that i turned the volume all the way up, but i still cannot hear any thing...

      @ Joost TL, Try a dark roasted coffee, the dark roast means the bean is roasted longer and in the roasting process a certain amount of caffeine is lost, the longer you roast the bean the more caffeine is lost, most people think dark roast means more caffeine but it actually the opposite, darker the roast less caffeine

    So the question is how do a consumer know which way the beans were decaffeinated?
    Does the packet contain that information?

      007Chakochi not many packets do sadly. Hipster coffee places can tell you and big chains should be able to too. Let me know if you discover who uses what!

    Interesting video, however dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) is a different substance to ethylene chloride (C2H4Cl2).

      For the solvent methods, just evaporate the used solvent and caffeine crystals will be left, and similarly with expanding the supercritical CO2 to a gas.

    Apparently some or maybe all of these decaffeination methods, not only remove caffeine, but also, a compound responsible for SURFACE TENSION of the coffee which allows the creamer crema to float on the surface.
    Which of these methods ALLOWS for that?

    Another great video.... But another video with sound levels far too low. They always seem to be around half the volume of most other videos. I watch on my phone in a noisy enviroment and have a lot of trouble hearing

    It's strange if dopamine indicates addiction, people also get a dopamine release when they, for example, visit the dentist worried they might get a filling. Are people addicted to going ot the dentist? No, dopamine is more complicated than simply the "addiction neurotransmitter" it's the "remember this" transmitter. It's what marks things as important, whether it's something you love and covet, or something you hate or dread.

    Some people are sensitive to the effects of coffee and some are not. I can have well over a litre of the stuff on a normal day and sleep fine afterwards and not even really feel a buzz ever.

    I was only aware of the carbon dioxide method. And from the way all sorts of solvents used , I think CO2 method is the cleanest

    Please adjust your mic gain on your future videos. I had my volume maxed out in youtube, PC, and speakers and I could still barely hear your audio.

      I agree. I note that you didn't mention adjusting the volume in the operating system. In Windows, you should pop open the little speaker icon in the taskbar (or "hidden icons" not on the taskbar); and you can make adjustments in Control Panel / Sound. I'm not saying that you should be required to go to that trouble, but if you can't hear, those are additional things you can do.

    Early in the video you ask "who can resist that alluring..." Well, I can, and it's actually not that difficult. The first step is that you have to find coffee disgusting, after that it takes care of itself. :)

    I'm a tea drinker myself. I only drink coffee when I want/need the stimulation. Decaff is utterly perverse to me.

      USApatriot30 my brother couldn't drink caffeine anymore after his cancer. he got much more sensitive to the drug sadly.

      Joost TL So sorry your brother had to go through that. That mist have been very difficult for your family. My grandmother has a severe caffeine sensitivity as well, so I do understand why people drink it. I just personally dislike decaf and like to make jokes to that effect. :)

      Some people do not like the bad feeling that caffeine causes from stress, anxiety and insomnia /At the same time they do not want to give up the taste of coffee so Decaf if last hope better than quit this drink forever.❤️

    I work in the only plant in the world that is currently doing critical CO2 decaffeination (in Texas). This process is remarkable but very expensive/complex to design and implement. Great video and drink on!
