If you make that cuff long enough you can use it to put your hand in. I would tack just the outer two sides though.

is there a reason why you cast off this way vs. cranking around once with no yarn and sewing through that way?
I have a new machine, I hope save it gears, which the best? machine oil or White grease for cars, and how many time I open it and clean from inside?

How many rows would be good for a scarf
Thanks for watching. For this scarf I think I did about 300 to 350 rows; I depends on the yarn and height of person who will wear the scarf.
Scarves are usually as long as the person wearing them is tall. I prefer mine shorter.

Not commenting on your tutorial but the sentro machine I received was worthless, completely worthless. It made a tangled knotted mess of the the yarn that came with the machine, really stinky quality on the yarn. I removed it all after 22 rows it was just caught up into the machine. So I slowly backed it off. The machine was really struggling and I figured it was likely a used return or a piece of junk to begin with. I then tried my newly bought size 4 yarn. Same thing happened and I realized that around the 22nd peg it was continually struggling, skipping gears, dropping stitches, and sucking the yarn into the machine. What poor quality disappointing waste of time and money. Shame since it had the potential to be a huge success but because of its totally cheap components it is not able to handle the tasks it was designed to do. Addi is on order and sentro is going back. Thanks for your lessons.

What if you dont want the curl?
if u dont want the curled part i would do a garter stitch for the first 5 or so rows (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) and then continue with just a knit stitch and end with 5 rows of garter stitch

Miaoke. Although, I specifically ordered a Sentro, but this is what was shipped to me. It’s infuriating but at that time I really didn’t think it would have made a difference. And I don’t think it did because I’m quite happy with what I can make with this machine. Hope that helps!
