Great explanation. This is the kind of information that should be printed in ncert books instead of “Brahmin bad, Brahmin created caste system”. Enough brainwashing. Jai Hind.

The benefits of reading valmiki Ramayana and bhagavat geetha, the usage of ashram and the role of a person which keeps changing time to time but holding onto dharma is eternal

It is so unfortunate that people have deliberately portrait the system as some sort of Apartheid regime. They are still doing it in school books all over the world.

" Until well into the colonial period, much of the subcontinent was still populated by people for whom the formal distinctions of caste were of only limited importance even in parts of the so - called Hindu heart land. The institutions and beliefs which are now often described as the elements of traditional caste were only just taking shape as recently as the early 18th Century ".

Pls classify people on the basis of income coupled with suppression of particular type of people for many years.
Devising economic programs on the basis of income groups will uplift poor irrespective of
    Community.

What Oakji refers to about american soldiers in vietnam are outlined in the film forest gump. They were called mcnamaras morons. This book McNamara's Folly: The Use of Low-IQ Troops in the Vietnam War.
Book by Hamilton Gregory covers it all.
    Also TIL of 'Project 100,000.'
25% of US Army soldiers in the Vietnam were intentionally-recruited "misfits" who couldn't read and write, had an IQ of below 75, and/or dropped out of high school. Some didn't even know the US was at war. They had 3x the casualty rate of regular soldiers.

How do you explain shudras not allowed to read Vedas or why children of only Brahmins could be allowed to perform priestly duties in temples.

@@thiruneermalai3845 VYASA is Vaisnava, is not dead as only body dies, and not the Immortal ATMA that we are.
Vaisnava is above Brahmin. A Brahmin is only a Bramana when twice born/Brahman Realisation, how else can a Brahman speak of that they do not know by Experience. Be born in a Brahmin family does not make one a Bramana, only qualification does, and especially ones VARNA. How to find one's Varna.

Vyasa as the son of Satyavati and parashara.
Vyasa was actually born as a sage at the beginning of this kalpa from Narayana himself via his power of speech (saraswati) hence, his original name was “Sage Saraswata”. His inner darkness was non-existent, meaning, he had full knowledge of brahman hence there was not at all any ignorance in him. Hence his another name was “apAntaratama-s” (apa + antara + tamas = one whose inner darkness is dispelled). Well, the son of Saraswati would naturally be such.
Since he was born from Saraswati, this current Kalpa also has got another name after him as ‘sAraswata kalpa’.
Narayana asked him to divide Vedas in the very first Manvantara viz. Swayambhu Manvantara. He did an excellent job which pleased that Hari and he in turn gave the following boons:
You shall by my grace be able to see past and future even up to thousands of years in the past and thousands of years in future.
You shall divide Vedas again in the Vaivasvata Manvantara, when you would manifest in the lineage of Vashishtha as the son of Parashara and would father the kuru lineage
You shall be free from all doubts but you will not be freed from worldly attachments, whereas your son (Suka) would be born by the grace of Maheshvara who would be a peerless jnAnI who would be freed from all attachments and would merge with the supreme soul
That was when the svayambhuva manu’s time when sage Apantaratamas alias Saraswata was given these boons. He manifested again as ‘Krishna Dwaipayana’ as the son of Parashara later.
This story is in Santi Parva of Mahabharatam, where Vyasa himself tells about his past life to his disciples Vaishampayana et al.

The VEDAS are powerful mantras, just as sword is not given to a child unqualified to wield the sword, so the Vedic Mantras should be read by one qualified to read them. Same again only those qualified should be allowed to perform priestly duties. In Bhagavad-gita Bhagavan Sri KṚṢṆA makes clear He created the Varnasrama, and asks that we perform our Varna s our duty to Bhagavan. Which Varna are you? How to find your Varna....
