They make a sound, but is that the sound you currently have selected? If your midi is working I’m not sure why it wouldn’t record unless the wrong track is selected. Try opening the setup wizard and restart the process of connecting your keyboard again. Also check preferences
Hey Parker, I was experiencing that exact same thing as you where the track was selected correctly and I could hear the sound when I was hitting the pads but when I pressed record (and then the play button to count me in) it wasn't actually showing anything on the grid. After much Googling - which brought me here - I re-did the setup wizard as The Letter C recommended but chose the Advanced option rather than Beginner. By doing that it gave me a couple more button options next to the record and overdub buttons. I am not sure of exactly what order I pressed everything in but essentially I toggled the retrospective record button (it's a circle with 8 little lines around it) and for whatever reason it is now working as expected. Hope this helps if you haven't already figured it out.

Thanks from one "C' to another!
At 15:00 there was a clip in the video when you were copying and pasting. I just spent 30mins trying to figure this out lol. Will you help me please. How do I "copy" then "paste" the individual sound? I even checked the manual and I see something about "copy events" but still don't understand. Thank you!
Bro i just installed it, but the ((Audio device is Not Working No audio will be processed)) that's what pops up in the far-right corner. How do i get around this?
Nice thanks, I would’ve just used the second part of that sequence and flipped that shit, the first part didn’t fit the vibe of the beat, but I know you were just demonstrating. Also is there a way to stretch the sample to make it fit the BPM? That was the issue
I am just starting but somehow I perceive some important latency when striking the pads. I see from the video of your setup that the response you have is kind of faster. Do you know what could be causing this or at what configuration should I be looking at?
Mine doesn't work at all. It's plugged in, but there is no sound coming out from MPC Beats. I can't set my pads to anything either. It makes no sound when I tap the pads and it does not connect with anything inn MPC Beats :/
Try a different usb chord, does the midi light blink when u press a button? Cuz that means it’s still sending info. U should be able to load a drum program and play it. Try using the setup wizard. You have to midi learn whatever u want it to control in mpc beats
So I wasn’t able to organize my pads in the beginning 2:32 am I doing something wrong ? I clicked all of the buttons but when I hit the pads it doesn’t show on my screen
Thank you SO much! @thirdletterc I have watched tens of videos as a newbie and this is by far the best one thus far. I kept up all the way and we are only half way!
I tried to do the part where you learn the pads which is at 2:00 in this video. You said learn that and I follow everything you did and it's still not reacting like your when I press the buttons. It doesn't do anything. Only when I use the mouse is the only way it moves.
For some reason I can’t get any sounds to sync with the pads on my MPK mini but I can use the keyboard and assign samples to that just not the pads. What am I doing wrong?
The pads and keys trigger the same samples. The video goes over how to rearrange the pads, but you could also trigger a pad on the mpk to see what it triggers in the program and move the sample to that pad
I’m a little bit familiar with this daw so far so this video helped bc I knew where everything was jus not how to use it completely like before this video I was jus djing that shit not even recording nothing jus doing it live for fun😂
Hello please , I really need help, I bought the Akai mpk mini mk3 and I use MPC beats, I can do things, but I have a big problem ... impossible to do recording sequences. When I press the pads or the keys of the mk3, the software seems to recognize my notes played but does not memorize them on the sequences (the boxes should be colored according to the notes played on the akai during the records). I have to do it manually with my PC mouse by clicking in the boxes. I thought a configuration problem. Could you help me ? Thank you For information: the current Midi configuration is checked in Master, control, tracks. If I remove Master the keys from the akai keyboard no longer work .... Only the pads work
I’m not really sure what you’re asking. If you’re saying it doesn’t sound right after you record, maybe your timing is off. Try recording on 16th notes and record with the metronome on.
@@thirdletterc I will try tomorrow. but I use the metronome well I have the beats well, the scroll bar circulates, but the boxes are not colored, yet on the virtual piano MPC beats the keys come alive when I press the Akai mpk mini , so the recognition works, could I make you a video? thanks

It has it built in. Check your setup wizard. If not just search MK3 with FL in UA-cam. I don’t know anything about FL I use Ableton
Thanks a lot. Great video! I learned a lot more watching your tutorial than a lot of others. You go right to the point and thanks to you I have a better understanding of the MPC beats workflow. I have a question on how do you route a vocoder vst like TAL Vocoder 2 in MPC beats? Thank you again for this great video!
Thanks a lot!!! You can open any vst you want. Where it says program on the left, click the plug for plug-in then open up any VST you have.
@@thirdletterc Thanks for your reply.
Amazing bro!! Really good for beginners like me!! Simple enough to understand the basis of it.
Perfect. I’m glad I could help!!
Damn, learned a lot! Thanks!
👍🏽
gotta say thanks again man, i liked and subscribed this time so i can find it more easily. Today has been an absolute blast, but i couldnt remember everything you said and then couldnt find the video again. seriously man, this is one of the best walk throughs out there because your just so chill and put it all in laymans terms. thank you man!
Glad it helped. Thanks for subscribing!!
What up "C"! I'm a real newbie so here it is! I hooked up the AKAI MPK mini and trolled for info on how to use. U came up with an identical mini so I listened and followed along and "Shazam" I'm making beats! Hot beat's! Thanks "C ! I started way out my element and now I'm making beats to my visions! Thanks from one "C' to another!
That’s what’s up!! Glad you were able to figure everything out and be creative.
At 15:00 there was a clip in the video when you were copying and pasting. I just spent 30mins trying to figure this out lol. Will you help me please. How do I "copy" then "paste" the individual sound? I even checked the manual and I see something about "copy events" but still don't understand. Thank you!
do u have the right time stamp? at 15:00 i dont see anything about copying and pasting. so im not sure what you need help with.
Bro i just installed it, but the ((Audio device is Not Working No audio will be processed)) that's what pops up in the far-right corner. How do i get around this?
Go to your preferences and select whatever audio device you’re using
Nice thanks, I would’ve just used the second part of that sequence and flipped that shit, the first part didn’t fit the vibe of the beat, but I know you were just demonstrating. Also is there a way to stretch the sample to make it fit the BPM? That was the issue
You have to go into program edit. Warp the sample then adjust the bpm of it to fit how u want
I am just starting but somehow I perceive some important latency when striking the pads. I see from the video of your setup that the response you have is kind of faster. Do you know what could be causing this or at what configuration should I be looking at?
Check the latency somewhere in the preferences
Mine doesn't work at all. It's plugged in, but there is no sound coming out from MPC Beats. I can't set my pads to anything either. It makes no sound when I tap the pads and it does not connect with anything inn MPC Beats :/
Try a different usb chord, does the midi light blink when u press a button? Cuz that means it’s still sending info. U should be able to load a drum program and play it. Try using the setup wizard. You have to midi learn whatever u want it to control in mpc beats
Thank you for explaining by saying "select that learn that"
Amazing tutorial! Can i ask you why TC button (in the middle of Metro and Bars) doesn't appear to my program?
at the top of the screen go to VIEW > TOOLBAR > show time correct
Best tutorial video ong
Oh I appreciate that so much
So I wasn’t able to organize my pads in the beginning 2:32 am I doing something wrong ? I clicked all of the buttons but when I hit the pads it doesn’t show on my screen
What doesn’t show?
Thank you SO much! @thirdletterc I have watched tens of videos as a newbie and this is by far the best one thus far. I kept up all the way and we are only half way!
Anyone know why even though my MIDI is plugged in it doesn’t show me the MIDI tab and sequence and all that. Please help
im not sure what you're referring to. at the top it says midi and audio, you click on which one you want
best video so faaaar!
Hey thanks!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This the first video that comes up to learn a mini mpk but I've watched more ads then the damn video bro will have you paying the $13 every month
If you watch a lot of UA-cam it’s worth it.
First time. Thanks for your help, you're the best !
Thank you!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey, my pads on my keyboard still won’t connect to the pads on mpc beats. Please get back to me when you have the time, if not I understand.
I’d try using the setup wizard. Either that or midi learn every pad manually
I tried to do the part where you learn the pads which is at 2:00 in this video. You said learn that and I follow everything you did and it's still not reacting like your when I press the buttons. It doesn't do anything. Only when I use the mouse is the only way it moves.
Many have had problems with that so Try following this video for that part instead. ua-cam.com/video/TWqXO_FHBa8/v-deo.html
I'm so confused my pads arent connecting to the software, i've done everything that you said but the pads don't light up when i press them.
How to Midi Map Your Controller With MPC Beats
ua-cam.com/video/TWqXO_FHBa8/v-deo.html
For some reason I can’t get any sounds to sync with the pads on my MPK mini but I can use the keyboard and assign samples to that just not the pads. What am I doing wrong?
The pads and keys trigger the same samples. The video goes over how to rearrange the pads, but you could also trigger a pad on the mpk to see what it triggers in the program and move the sample to that pad
I’m a little bit familiar with this daw so far so this video helped bc I knew where everything was jus not how to use it completely like before this video I was jus djing that shit not even recording nothing jus doing it live for fun😂
Sometimes that’s fun too. Now you can go even crazier with it.
As an Artist trying to expand my abilities THANK U for making this video now i can add PRODUCER under my belt
That’s dope. Thank you!
I've been searching for a while but for some reason my note repeat is much slower than yours. Any advice?
Not sure what you’re using but you should be able to adjust it.
@@thirdletterc I will try tomorrow. but I use the metronome well I have the beats well, the scroll bar circulates, but the boxes are not colored, yet on the virtual piano MPC beats the keys come alive when I press the Akai mpk mini , so the recognition works, could I make you a video? thanks
I do zoom sessions for stuff like this but if it’s just this one issue I could do it for cheap FYI… u can email contactc4mpc@gmail.com if you’re interested. If I don’t figure it out I will NOT keep your money.
Hello! How can I hear metronome sounds only in headphones while playing live/loop ? Thank you.
I don’t use mpc beats to play live, or use loop function. But if you’re live looping, you don’t necessarily need a metronome
HI i have just recently brought the mpk 3, i watch a few tutorials but yours is the most clear and understandable, keep it up bro👌
Man thank you!!
excelente!! thanks a lot!! mine doesn't have this time corrected ON . How I can put there where u have it ? thanks
at the top of the screen go to VIEW > TOOLBAR > show time correct
thanks for the help!
No doubt!! 🙏🏽
Thanks for the lesson. Definitely was a good start for Me :)
That’s good to hear.

how do i make my own beat though? i don't wanna use samples from something else i wanna make my own. is there a video for that?
Use whatever sounds you like. Video is just showing you how the program works.

Man how do u change the UI size the way u have it, can find no help anywhere?
Not sure what you mean. If you’re on a Mac click the green top left circle to fill your screen
Mines only came with 1 Expansions, which was the MPC Beats Demos and Templates
You can buy more
Nice vid, you have skills👍. How did you learn to use this software? I have no prior experience and want to get into making beats.
Thank you so much!! I’ve been making music for a long time. Most DAW’s do the same thing, you just have to figure out the workflow. This program is free, but can be overwhelming if you’re a beginner. Just try to use it everyday for an hour. AKAI has plenty how to videos also. Also try serato studio.
@@thirdletterc cheers big man, I'll follow your advice and hopefully be making beats soon. Thanks for taking the time to reply 👍.
No doubt. I have a serato studio video up as well. It’s Definitely a budget friendly program. Good luck!!
You have a ear for music man..Your timing is nice 👌
Hey thank you so much!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I just installed the software but it doesn't come with the producer kit installed? why is that?
What producer kit?
Thanks for doing this a to b demo picked up loads of great tips and things I was missing. Helped me to just get going.
Awesome!!!
Anybody know if you can use mpc beats with multiple controllers? I've got both the Akai mini and the akai pro mpd18
Those are Akai products you should be able to use either one..
@thirdletterc but can you use BOTH at the same time is my question 🤔

Great video
Thx!
How do I get my AudioBox interface to working with this software?
Go into the preferences and set the output to your interface
Thank you 🙏
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Will you tell me how to fix the playback. When I hit play nothing happens.
Maybe u wanna restart? Play button is at the top next to the stop button, or you can press the space bar to start playback
the keyboards isn't showing on the software, when I press on a note the beat pad in the software lights up
U can use keys or pads to trigger the same notes.
The reason the beat is off is because he is making his beats to slow . If your tempo is 85 you should set it to 170 , make your beats in double time it allows you to do more and gives you a cleaner sound .
You can make your beats whatever tempo you want. Double time doesn’t make your sound “clean.”
@@thirdletterc it makes the instrument go faster the hi hats more cleaner along with the instruments
Does mpc beats not work for the akai mpk mini play??? Its not working for me
It should work with any midi controller.
I tried to record the pad part like that but no notes of the pad came up. how can i get that goin because im stuck on that part.
What’s the time stamp? Not sure what you mean
Hi can I make beat with only using akai lpd 8? Is that enough
All you need is a mouse and keyboard so yes. You can check one of my latest vids I show you how to make music with just that
@@thirdletterc Ive seen that already, but with akai lpd 8 is it ok?
Idk what that is but u can use any controller at your disposal. Anything you have that sends midi.
@@thirdletterc oh that is from the akai product. Its like a control with eight drum pads on it and 8 knobs instead.
Have you checked the akai lpd 8?
thanks this video helped me alot just started playing with my mpk mini3
That’s Great!! Glad to hear
