if you have a mpk mini 2 and youre using fl studio and want to fix the velocity, go to MIDI options, click on the line next to "link velocity on note to" and change the velocity curve by dragging the center dot up to make the graph curved. can also set velocity to none if you dont care about dynamic range.
my MPK mini MK2 doesn't give me that option, I think 😢 ... it doesn't have the digital display and the computer editor doesn't give me that option either. wondering if I could fix that key velocity with external software instead

I DIDN'T EVEN BUY FROM THEM!! I bought it used, and Akai made $0 from me. I was floored by how cool they were about helping me out.

At first I thought you would say "press 'Full Level' and then you don't have to hit so hard'. Because that's what I've done, essentially turning off velocity. But when you'd held it for five seconds I was blown away!
Btw, the pads are so stiff on this controller, you may want to get used to hitting the corners, they're far more reactive than anywhere else on the pads. other than that, excellent quality, wonderful pots, and controls, and one hell of a value...DON'T GET ALL BLACK KEYS!

It says nothing in the manual about it. What are v1, v2, v3, v4 supposed to be? And how do you change the velocity sensitivity for the pads? My keys are way off for my preference, the pads I would like to change a bit. From some playing around I can only assume it is an input to output map, couldn't figure out for sure where v1 and v4 are except v1 is at the loud input range and v4 is at the quiet input range. I'm assuming something like 5, 15, 25, 35 is supposed to be linear with the sensor since it starts at 0 and maxes out at 40, and v1 and v4 don't seem to control the far end ranges but just close to them. These are my settings that felt significantly better than any I've found, gave it a consistent feel while playing arpeggios across mixed black and white keys while increasing and decreasing the volume. Very interesting and surely helpful video - thanks! It showed my quite some things I wasn't aware of before. Though, I'm leaning more towards the Akai MPK Mini Play MK3. And considering the insights you have and demonstrated in this video I wonder what your opinion on the Play is - which I'd favor over the non-play because it comes with built in speaker, headphone jack and 100 sounds, all of which surely could be helpful when planning to use it with Koala Sampler on an Android Tablet. Would love to hear your opinion on this.
I know this is baby steps but I could not figure out how to get the 3 Free VST instrument packs from AIR moved into Reaper to be able to use as FX on tracks. I tried the option of going into preferences and VSTs and trying to add a new path but the Hybrid 3, Mini Grand, (I've forgotten the others) VST tiles were grayed out. There is a small button below the add path bar that says "scan for new"...I hit that and it picked all of them up and put them "NEW" when you click on your FX button on your track in Reaper. I think what caused this hiccup was having Reaper open when I downloaded and installed the VSTs. I imagine this would not have been an issue if I had installed the VSTs and then opened Reaper. That's my fault, but it will give you something else to try if you're having trouble like I was.
I love the size of the mini mk 3 but the keys are a little too hard. I been having mine for a year and the half, plus the keys are smaller. Not going to sell it but i need something else
I really need some help here. I just ordered and received my Akai MPK mini, and I've plugged it into my laptop, but get no sound. Ok. So I guess I have to download some software. To keep everything simple, here's my question: Do I literally have to register and activate all this software to use this thing? If so, I'm sending this crap back, because i didn't know it was just a trojan horse for selling more crap.
The Full Level button thing doesn't work on the Mini Plus, interestingly. I can't find what the alternative is, of course you can manipulate these settings in software and upload them to the keyboard but its obviously a slower process.
