I think that two upgrades to this would make it perfect. 1.) Make the pad a stand that lifts the phone up a few inches so that it faces you. 2.) Attach a NFC sticker that is programmed to change the phone to landscape when placed on the pad and return to vertical when taken off.
I just bought a slim $13 wireless charging pad and slid it into place. Fast charge, and works perfect. Also able to access the button relocations under it or remove it in seconds.
I added wireless charging two weeks ago on my e90. I placed it in the same area however I cut the oddments holder. Overall the result is good and looks similar I even put black vinyl wrap. However your method is a lot better than mine. I sacrificed a new $50 oddments tray specifically for this project lol. I never thought about placing it directly on to the center console. Nice job looks great.
Hi boss can you send my pictures of the tray with the part number??because i buy 1 oem and the phone doesnt fit in the tray.and i have a samsung s10 not the plus.thanks.
That's a neat solution compared to some others I have seen but I would have stuck down some rubber gripper mat on top of the white plastic instead of the vinyl wrap and then the rubber mat you put that way the phone would sit lower and less likely to come off when cornering harder, also look better too since the whole area would be covered by the rubber mat. Still a good job!
Nice! I’ve got a boost gauge and volt meter gauge where the ashtray was but am going to put a wireless charging mat in the armrest where the old car kit is
Did the same some time ago with a 20W charger so that you can stream BT and project Android auto on the CIC screen and still maintain the charge in the phone. Next you'll want to fiddle with Tasker to keep your phone's screen orientation fixed :-)
You'd have to take power from a source that doesn't turn off when the car is off but I'd be worried about the battery slowly depleting if your park it for a while.
Can i make a suggestion on your install? I think it would work out if you add neodymium rare earth magnets to the underside of your tray by gluing them then apply Scosche magic plates onto the back of your phone at the top and bottom edge so the metal is not near the charging coils. This way the phone will stay put with the magnets holding it down of course i can see that pad raises the surface somewhat from your plastic mount but it may work if the magnets are powerful enough.
Hello, would you mind giving an update on how well the wireless charger performed? Does it charge the battery, or just keep it maintained? I’m ready to buy the model you installed, but I’ve read reviews that give me doubt in regards to its quality and effectiveness. At the end of the day I don’t want to pay 💰 ~$300 for a bimmertech retrofit that’s currently available for the G20 when I can get the same internals at a fraction of the cost. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been looking for something to do with the cigarette lighter pocket in my e90 328! I was seriously considering retro fitting an old 5th gen ipod I have into that pocket and wiring up a charging and AUX cable input into it but I think I'll do this instead. So clean looking!
I there, I'm wondering what ampere size fuse did you use to connect the wireless module? as i believe the power for cig hole would be a 5A in the fuse box? thanks.
My cigarette lighter charges my phone in an hour and some change I'd probably put the wireless charger in the center console so if I ever wanted to fast charge my phone I could
i have a BMW 09 E70. there is a beeping noise i hear through my HVAC vents. This happens after i starts after my car engine has warmed up. this noise also continues after I have switched off my engine. The noise continues until the engine is cool, i have noticed. Don't know what it is. Do you know what this might be?
Hey how are you liking the 335is clutch? I'm thinking of a new DMFW and a 335is clutch for my 335i. I will never see over 500whp since I'm in Canada with no e85. Opinions? I don't want flywheel chatter
I've got a 2011 E93 that has the storage tray and not the lighter. I've never removed the center trim. Is there somewhere else under there to safely tap into for power that you know of?
Don’t be a dick, Richard. I’m sorry you live in a ghetto, but with hard work and determination you can crawl your way out. And maybe someday you won’t be a burden on society. One more thing, definitely get your GED it will open all kinds of employment opportunities. Just think, no more working at McDonald’s you can move up to a job at the mall now. Remember Richard, you can do this, we are all rooting for you.

I finished mine today same way looks factory and works well so thanks bro for keep up informed with your videos!!regards from tampa fl.
If you buy the oddment tray for the e92 this can be installed and maintain a completely stock appearance.
Thanks for the tip.

I think I would have finished it in alcantara. I think you've inspired me to do something similar.
Just got in an accident in mine and awaiting appraisal, if I get it back I will definitely be doing this.

Thanks. Very good video mate. I'm planning to put mine in the armrest.
I did the same thing in my e82 1 series with a 7.5w charger! It’s a clean setup
Amazing! I remember recommending this and it happen! Love all the diy

Great video. Keep in mind you can get everything off Amazon for 1/3 the price.
Wow. Great solution! Dutch regards, Nico.
This was some great DIY 🥶
I would recommend something stiffer like FR4. I have an OLFA knife just like that.

Awesome video as always! Any way to set up the charger to charge while the car is off?

Proper bodge-stall!

Looks nice and clean 👍what’s your thoughts on a e53 x5 wireless charger
I used to have an eye, do they make drop in solutions?
What kinda trim is that, looks insane.
It's a forged carbon wrap, I made a video on it.
I ordered my on Monday still waiting for it to arrive. But I'll probably gonna return it.i think is too expensive for 5 watts
It's a 5w charger but for what its worth it seems to charge a bit faster than the OEM charger in my G20.
Which wire need to cut for power from the cigarette port?
Carbon fiber wrap would be nicer than matte wrap. Still Noice!
I there, I'm wondering what ampere size fuse did you use to connect the wireless module? as i believe the power for cig hole would be a 5A in the fuse box? thanks.
Nice work as always
Si tienes impresora de 3D, puedes tener el archivo en thingeverse
what type of wrap did you used for the trims? Forged carbon?
My cigarette lighter charges my phone in an hour and some change I'd probably put the wireless charger in the center console so if I ever wanted to fast charge my phone I could
Hi ! What’s the name of film from trims?
Just ordered. I don't have the smoker's package so what would be a good power source to tap into?
That’s sweet man. I still can’t get used to your car being manual lol
Lol yeah same here and I'm driving it often.
Do you get interference while charging and listening to FM radio? My regular cigarette phone charger creates static while charging my phone.

Hmmmmm ..... have to wait for the fast charge model at 30W.
Definitely wanna do this, but I don’t have a cigarette lighter there. Where’s a good place to get power?
I did it by connecting to the fuse box
AshwinLB Ah perfect, I forgot how close it was. Did you just use a fuse tap?
From the center console cigarette lighter. Use two cables and solder it to + and -
+ is in the middle - is on the side
Vox marcin Oh yeah that would work aswell 👍🏾
@@SamAbraham thanks mate :)
What if ur e90 does not have 12v port?
Nice job 👍
Should work equally well for my E93, yes?
I've got a 2011 E93 that has the storage tray and not the lighter. I've never removed the center trim. Is there somewhere else under there to safely tap into for power that you know of?
I believe if you have the tray instead of ash tray you'll need to go back to the fuse box for power.
Is it a quick charger or slow charger
If you watch the video you would know
Its a bit faster than the OEM charger in my G20 but its rated at 5w.
@@VehicularDIY thanks for the response I actually asked the question before I heard you speak about it in the video but thanks bro
5v1a
One fast corner and your phone will skyrocket into you or the passenger :D
Yeah during spirited driving you'd probably want to remove it or put in some rubber stoppers on each side.
Looks ghetto af
How?
Looks better than a 2ft cord
