It's so nice that with the aftermarket you can make these beautiful old e39 feel like a modern car just by doing a few things. The process may not be simple but it's worth it. I plan on doing this with my wagon along with an eonon android radio for it. I can't wait. Helpful video 👌
Thanks man. I've got a few other videos lined up. I'm just rubbish when it comes to editing them which is why I dont have much content uploaded. I'll keep an eye on your channel too. Cheers :)
So done a test and it charged my phone from 40% to 52% in 26 mins dead. Which is 2 mins per percent. That was with mobile data, NFC and auto brightness on so will vary depending on usage.
Average is 1.5 to 2 mins to charge 1% on my s9+ with data/nfc and always on display turned on. On my journey home from work it charged 12% of the phone battery in 26 mins. So bang on 2 mins per percent. Not too bad. Ovcourse you can get a wireless transmitter which has a higher output for fast charge etc.
It's wired to the cig lighter which is always on and therefore so is the wireless charger. It would be better to use a piggyback fuse tap on something that only turns on with ignition.
As a former avionics tech with 30 years experience on aircraft and who has done some automotive wiring over the years, that is not how to properly attach crimp connectors. You don't strip the wire to the point where you can feed it through the hole in the blade part of the connector. Having the wire go through the hole will not give you a better electrical connection and will make it harder to insert the spade into the female connector. You only strip the insulation back far enough to expose an amount of wire the same length as the metal barrel of the crimp. The Insulation is only supposed to butt up against the end of the metal barrel inside the plastic when you insert the wire into the crimp. If the wire wants to pull out of the crimped connection after crimping, you either didn't crimp it properly or you didn't use the correct size of crimp connector for the gauge of wire.

If you are going to do a video that includes how to wire something up using crimp connectors, you should at least make sure that your instructions for doing that are correct. A job worth doing is worth doing well.
That’s right. Couldn’t find a better place for one. I currently have the iPhone 13 pro and that fits fine. Sadly, the pro max on the other hand wouldn’t fit 🤷🏽♂️

I did it now also, thanks for the instructions. Mission completed
Thanks!!
Amazing video man. Keep making videos about your e39, I'll probably follow along since I just got an e39 and Ive got some ideas of my own.
Ill be posting videos of mine too

I just did this today and it worked perfectly, thanks for your tutorial 👍
You're welcome. Good to see it is helping people 🙂

Nice, thank you for this, will be doing it to mine very soon :) just ordered the part off ebay
Great video I'm definitely going to give this a go 👍
KhanHS
Can you use the wireless charger and the 12v cigarette port for another phone at the same time??
Yep. Thats right. You can continue to use the 12v cigarette port as usual. So if you have drinks then you can use the USB charger instead.
Please tell us how fast it is when you tested it. Thank you :)

KhanHS Thank you!
Does that stay on 24/7 or is it only on with ignition? My e53 is always on from the factory so I added a relay to solve for that

What’s the stereo unit in the video ? Enon?
It's an Xtrons unit.
Is the cigarette lighter permanent live or switchable live ? Cheers
Its permanently live on the e39. Ideally you want to find a switched live fuse and piggy back off of that.
What phone is that? You think an iPhone 8 Plus will fit there?
The iphone 8 plus is slightly wider so I doubt it but best way is to place it on the tray and check
Mine is a Samsung galaxy 9+
KhanHS thanks! Just didn’t feel like going out to the car and checking. My 540i has been sitting for a while lol
@@NYCRevolution1 ah ok. Fair enough. And no problem :)
What type of crimp terminals did u use? the link does not work any more. ist it 6.3? oder 4.8? Or even smaller?
Sorry I don't know the size of them. I bought a pack off of ebay and just used whichever one fitted nicely.
This won’t drain your battery?
I’ve had no such issues but ideally you want to tap into a switched live and preferably piggyback off of a fuse in glovebox.
@@KhanHS okay sounds good. You wouldn’t happen to know which fuse I could tap into off your chest would you? Lol
@@Nbavirals2025 Fuse 21 for me. Using a fuse tap in the glove compartment fusebox is very tight but doable.
Ok but the coil isn’t available in the USA for some reason is there another coil pack that i should purchase or is there nothing else i can do
Search for Three Coils wireless on amazon and there should be some listings for the US too.

Too bad not every smartphone will fit onto the tray.
