- In this video I upgrade my E90 335i BMW with an F series steering wheel. This wheel came off an LCI F10 535i.
To me this is the definition of OEM plus. It feels and looks awesome in my opinion.

Yeah I think people may have researched it and found those old threads saying it won't fit which was true at the time but that changed with the f10 lci in 2014.

What's also interesting is the f01 7 series wheels should work as well. People put the m5/m6/f10 msport wheels into 7 series. So there's quite a few options from f01,f10, e89, e84 etc if you can sort electronics.

When i was in the market for a used 4 series, cars without this wheel were literally 3-4 grand cheeper since no one wanted an f36 without it. As you said, it completely changes the entire feel of the car. The regular wheel is worthless.

For those looking to do this, aliexpress now offer a paddle shift f10 m5 wheel replica that’s far cheaper and has the buttons adapted to be the ones off an e9X/e6x steering wheel and fits most e chassis cars, I’ve ordered one and I’ll possibly make a video on it as I don’t know of anyone else who has bought one yet

I have been waiting for someone to do this for a minute. Now I am gonna do it.
To clean a steering wheel, use one of those white magic sponges and just water and only water. It will come out really mat and clean and very grippy.

Just got to be careful with those magic erasers, they are like a very soft sander. You can eventually burn through so I wouldn't always clean with one as its very aggressive.
Its a really good tool to use it with the seats but i would not use it on that steering wheel, the color may come off of it.
Vehicular DIY dont do that Ive seen in my f30 group people’s leather fades out entirely just from regular cleaning. A magic eraser literally scrapes away the leather. Safest and most effective is leather cleaner with a horse hair brush that costs about 5 bucks. The leather on our wheels is extremely delicate

Great mod. My 340i came with this wheel, but I think it’s better in the e90 sense it doesn’t have drive by wire. You can feel what the car is doing.

I own a 2005 E60 and everywhere i search i can only find that the LCI E60 steering wheels dont fit on my pre LCI , how can a F10 fit now ? I dont mean the part where you put the glue and not the part with the screw - but the middle ring should not fit right ?

Edit: thought this was from an f8x but realized it was f10 lci. Is f8x and f10 lci the same?
They look the same but only an F10 wheel would fit an E9X car.
Vehicular DIY Thanks for the clarification. Looks good and would love to see it with carbon fiber. I’m leaning towards upgrading my steering wheel to flat bottom with carbon fiber, I just love the look of the e92 wheel. But would be interesting and feel newer to have the f10 wheel.
Yeah there are companies that convert the f10 wheel and sell on eBay.

The only thing i am scared of and don't mess around with is the software. My car came with bluetooth ready but i don't how to activate it with the software. There is some stuff i have read about but not a lot or no real video's of step by step instructions like you do. Thanks again for what you do. God bless

If you're on the fence there is no comparison in terms of cost the E90 wheel will be a much better value.

Since you've already got the wheel, there is this as well. Two options, the whole trim, or the insert for carbon fiber. dunno about quality yet but I'm doing one myself.

Happy to report I nabbed one of these for dirt cheap. Got an M6 steering wheel w/heat, vibro, and paddles. Just have to find an airbag. Ebay has 2-stage from EU but not sure if I want to go that route.
Nice, yeah I've seen some 2 stage air bags from overseas for around 400.

Im thinking of installing the F10 steering wheel for my E90 as well, but as u said it’s kinda difficult to get LCI one. Then I decided to get a none-LCI F10 steering for it, but will it also fit to E90?

so the pre LCI F10 wheel wont fit? that sucks i think this one looks too modern, i think the pre-LCI would fit better with the rest of the interior

Im in the UK and this steering wheel can easily be bought for less the half what he paid (incl. currency conversion).
If you're in the US, it'll be cheaper to ship it from the UK and other European sites, than to buying in the US.

Did I understand correctly that only the LCI F10 wheel would work? Why not pre-LCI, since you said that everyone with the pre-LCI wheel wants to upgrade, so I assume the spline pattern and everything else is the same? Obviously not as good-looking, but much cheaper and more available than LCI. Thanks!

one more question：in the ETK have 2 part number，all the US version is "32 30 7851230"，and the EU version is “32 30 7851234”，both spline are the same？ the local dealer know nothing，if it works，maybe I can get one from a F11 530

Is it different Steeringwheels in F31 so only this steeringwheel you have in the video work or can you take another style of a steering wheel from F30 and put in a E61 2008?
I have my pop's 440i with this wheel for the week. Incredible powertrain and exhaust but it just doesn't have the steering feedback of the E-series BMW..I think wheel choice doesn't make as big a difference with eps
Yeah true, my e90 has active steering which I think takes away some feel.

I'm wondering if that converter is a simple can message translator. I.E. takes the F series can messages and converts to e series can messages. should be pretty simple for someone with basic arduino skills to make one on the cheap.
And, if you can code custom messages. You may be able to add in the acc buttons and give other buttons custom functions.
To really clean things up, you would need to source a clockspring without the cruise control stalk or figure out a clean way to delete.
I never really liked the cruise control stalk TBH.

Thanks! Yeah I think that is exactly what it does. Respect to the company that made it, still pretty involved. You could delete the cruise control stalk if you did this upgrade with the adapter box.

During coding I found a TLA assistant (traffic light) and coded it only into my HU_MGU. I can select it but it's ignoring it. So maybe can you make a video about coding the TLA? Would be awesome!

Why did u manual swap it. Should of just done a xHP Stage 3 onto it and it's WAY faster then manual

Only F10 M Steering wheels does it fit? The F30 is not fitting in the hub ?

Yeah if you search most threads say it doesn't fit but a lot of them are older before the F10 LCI came out.

I found 2 in my area in really good condition with airbags! One for $1,200 "with no vibro" (whatever that means) and another fully loaded version for $1,500 good condition also. Good deal?
Vibro means lane departure warning vibrator. Ask 800 for the first one. If you don't have all the gizmos then don't get the fully loaded one.
