I am from Bangalore, I feel ashamed of our south Indian states.. Many districts of North East India for 1st railway tracks after Independence. Northern states accept and welcome central projects. But many central minister, Including Transport minister Nitin Gadkari complained, (except Karnataka) for lack of cooperation from South states in providing land acquisition for expressway, highways, expansion of railways and metro. TN hasn't approved single Cental Govt project after DMK came to power.

Central is doing partiality to northern part from ages..If central has not built those PSU and MNc their but instead in north ,then Northern part would have contributing most to gdp...But Central has to build those in South due to strategic advantage...If war happen then northern part will be hit first and have more damage than south...So all those PSU and MNc will be safe in Southern part...Now you understand why you are contributing more to GPD???

if you take top 10 states in army recruitment then its all in Northrern states, your point?The budget allocation is skewed due to DFC(dedicated freight corridor) work in delhi-mum and delhi-kol lines and after that is done mum-chennai and chennai-kol pune blore aka southern states are next. why they chose these two lines well simple. delhi-kol lines has most minerals and delhi-mum line has most industry so just wait for your chance. Even in north india we are not getting new coaches as such for passengers bulk of spending is on the freight corridor. besides most new vandebharat expresses are equally allocated in north and south.
1. South have good raliway and other transport conectivity when compared to North and North Eastern Part of India.
2. she is saying about Southern Railway(SR) which is 1 of 10-12 Railways in India. There is Central Railway(CR), Western Railway(WR), Northern Railway(NR) and also NWR, NER, SCR, NFR etc.
3. Out of 28 States and 8 UT, there are only 5 States and 1UT whereas All other part have 23 States and 5 UT. Difference between population is also very huge.

No is not true it's half truth, south india have been allocated more than 18000 crore for railway projects, the 59 crore is for new lines , while northern railways got that budget because Uttrakhand, Himachal, jammu and Kashmir are getting new lines from scratch, like these states didn't have proper railway lines since independence, so obviously if you build something from scratch it costs more?? Right second if they do this North South what about billion of dollars central govt spend on ports??? Roads to connect ports did we say oh South is getting ports, roads why not North??? Many major institutions are in South did we ask why??? 1) Most of the budget of Railways is going towards certain projects like Bullet Train, North East Railway (there is literally no railway in this part of country) and Freight Corridor like 75%.
2) Distance Factor : The distance between West to east India is 3000Km while the same breadth in South is around 850 KM.
3) The point raised is very genuine, Govt should look into this.
4) South gives more money in taxes because they are more prosperous than North, so they have a right to demand better facilities for them.

If northern states will improve, it will increase the volume of trade that india does and it's the southern states which will ultimately gets benefit.

What makes economy of a state?
Labour & capital
Central government has infused capital in southern states since independence and as a result these states grew.
Northern states didn't grow due to this, cheap labour from northern states moved to southern states and making them economically competitive.
So, if today southern states are earning more, that's because they are part of union of india and as a result they got capital in the past and labour today.
Otherwise they wouldn't be able to become what they are today.
So, naturally it's time for other states to grow, you are crying discrimination.
Also, as a matter of fact, distribution of funds to states takes place as per gadgill formula for years and accepted by all states and central government has been paying for gst compensation also.
There is no black & white but all shades of grey are present in a story.

It's state government responsibility to manage state affairs and centre looks after overall defence and few other sectors. And your justification for gdp difference is below basic understanding of economics. If infrastructure is the only criteria then how can you justify, education and fertility rate of northern states? And this is not a single years allocation, even if you take 10 years of allocation combined, it still won't go anywhere closer to one year of northern railway allocation. I personally want North East and Central Indias development and won't advocate north south division in any form. But i request centre to allocate fairly for all sections. And in the age of nuclear weapons and icbms you are saying only north will be attacked? I don't believe so.

Most interesting observation as I spent most of my life travelling in railways north-south, obedience of law. There is TTE inspection after every station in south. No bribery, no adjustments, if you break the rules, get out. Also, the way the coaches are maintained in south, comparing it with north, its just way better. New coaches alloted to the north wheras old ones in south but they maintain what they have well

North and South Indians fighting over railway budget, meanwhile Northeastern States like Nagaland, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal is yet to have a railway station. A small district in North or South India has more railway tracks than entire states like Arunachal etc.

But we should not forget that both Hindi and English are the official languages of India So therefore it would not be appropriate to conduct the exam in English only. The net loss would be even more from before as all profit avenues of rail would be gone. This loss would be then financed by you and me through tax.
I have worked in the United Kingdom and US for a while and in both countries privatisation of railways either fully or partly has failed to give results.

Very true..What she said about railway recruitment is a fact..I had a personal experience..I appeared for RRB RPF exam in 2019 and got pretty good score, but I was shocked to see the cutoff, which was very high. Later on the merit list majority of them were from north. RRB runs the biggest scam

As Mumbaikar, I feel, even Mumbai/Maharashtra is neglected in Railway Budget allocations. Under RRTS projects 90% of the new liners are from Delhi to surrounding cities & towns. Nothing for Mumbai other Cities of Maharashtera. Bullet train can't be counted in Mumbai's account. Development should be all over the country and it should not be politicized.

Lakhs of people have jobs in daily but don't live in Delhi and therefore spends around 5 to 6 hours daily in transportation. Other capital cities doesn't have that problem as almost all people who works their lives in those cities only. Only a handful of people travel from other cities which might not be profitable for such a project.

The northern parts like Manipur, Nagaland or the border areas of Rajasthan were completely neglected by the Congress. Now for the first time people got train service in Manipur. The government should increase the budget for the south but spend more where services are very poor.

Being a north indian i admit this is unfair.....and need to be look into.
However north states are underdeveloped and covers a much bigger area than north so budget will be somewhat higher than south cause south is much more developed than north India.

But, isn't it like South Getting blamed for using their budgetary allocation in the past properly?? Same goes in the case of reproductive rate in south and north. South successfully controlled population and now when tax and grants are allocated, southern states get very less compared to north because lower population in South. When Kerala pays 1 rupee as tax to centre, they only get 0.25 back where as in case of UP, for one rupee they get 1.75 as tax. The gap is more wide when we take Karnataka. Moreover once 2026 delimitation is over, seats in Parliament would be changed and the latest census data would be used. In that case also, south is going to lose. In brief, Southern states are reprimanded because they did well. Be it population control or other development indices. Isn't like a kid doing well in school is being reprimanded for good in studies? What kind of logic is that??? Where is the motivation to perform well?? Its not like southern stares are begging for more fund. They did pay taxes and if you go with percapita wise, its way above northern states.

Tn ,kerala, etc have 1.7, 15 like that. Tn had same rate as up ,bihar at the time of independence. Now up has 3.2 . So the government has now decided to actually punish us by saying oh now we take new census. And sourh pop is reduced per state. So for example if tn had 60 seats in parliament. 12 are taken away from tn and guven to up. So sourh states have less seats. And no matter who we vote for in the end whover north indian votes for will win as you all are majority

I am from Bangalore, I feel ashamed of our south Indian states.. Many districts of North East India for 1st railway tracks after Independence. Northern states accept and welcome central projects. But many central minister, Including Transport minister Nitin Gadkari complained, (except Karnataka) for lack of cooperation from South states in providing land acquisition for expressway, highways, expansion of railways and metro. TN hasn't approved single Cental Govt project after DMK came to power.

For 70 years we haven't seen any infrastructure development in the North-East region. The new railway lines bridges in hills obviously costs more. After 70 years some of the states in the north-east region are getting their first train line, their first trains. Obviously this project will cost more than any projects in southern parts. The rail bridge project on chenab in Kashmir alone costs more than 1000km railway lines in the plane area whether it's south or north.
