Very interesting to see how his voice changed in the past years. Went from very coarse and little to no vibrato to very soft and sharp and a lot of vibrato and somewhat higher pitch. I hope the vocal chords didn't get damaged.
I'm sure he had to change it up, more than likely damaged his vocal chords. Which is a shame cause this isn't the Colter Wall I learned to enjoy anymore.
he posted something about this a while back. he basically said during his imaginary appalachia his sound was forced and not his natural voice and doesn’t like to think back on it. the sound we’re getting now is is natural singing voice.
I heard him say in an interview once that when he listens to the older recordings he “hears a guy that didn’t know how to sing” I think his voice is beautiful either way
@@INDRIDCOLD83 Gotta agree with Colter Wall on the change. Been listening to his newer stuff lately and, now, whenever I check out his old stuff his previous singing voice sounds forced and kinda cringey to me
He's basically said he was forcing things on his early work and that he's since "learned how to sing". I think the work he's been putting out as of late is probably his finest yet.
I would gladly die to keep colter wall alive. He's bringing back the spirit of American folk tradition that I wish my generation would step up and bring back.
One of my top favorites. I will never get tired of hearing your voice ❤️ pretty sure if my record player or Google nest could talk they'd say to play something other than Colter 😅
Thanks for the support. It's my out most pleasure having you here, thanks for your support you have been giving me all these years, I won't be here if not for you my lovely fan. I hope you find joy and happiness in my music? I will have to call you My Super Fan.
You are my savior of honky tonk colter.you are welcome in my little holler here in west by God Virginia any time day nite and in-between.i got nothing but absolute admiration for your voice, stories, and sound.just said last night I was praying to hear something from you...was needing to smile and sir u didn't leave me hanging.
Superb as always Kiddo, Hey Colter you are a June 1995 baby and my son Kyle is November 1995 baby, Something great about that year. Two of my favorite people born that year. My son is military and your music means a lot to him. 🎶
His original voice, this was in my algorithm and sorry to say I'm not a fan of his singing style anymore. Voice went from howling on a mountain top to whispering in the woods.
This is what I love about country music, story telling with great vocals and a steel guitar. I gave up up the new age modern music awhile back. I've been stuck with Marty Robbins, Hank sr and Jerry Reed and I still return to the first song I heard of yours. I'm glad your still telling stories and I hope you don't stop anytime soon.
Ahh .. Colter takes me straight back to hanging at my Nan and Pa's, listening to their many awesome country music albums. Such sweet cherished melancholy memories. Thanks for sharing your fabulous talents. Love it. Cheers from Western Australia. 👍🏻✌🏻💜🎵🎶
Wow.. just wow.. the beauty of this man's voice... not to mention how it has changed since he was younger... just wow. I wish I could of been blessed with his vocals. Love your music bud. All the way down here in the boons of Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 😎
I am a fan from Manitoba Colter. I love your music. (Modern old farmer). Been listening from the beginning. I hope you do well. But remember to throw us Canadian prairie men some songs too! Been some hard times lately. Droughts, now floods, but we have kept the cattle moving along!!! No complaints!! Just doing what we do best. Farming!!

So glad my boyfriends friend showed him your music. He told me to check you out and we both said you have such an amazing soul, story telling voice. I can’t wait to hear more 🎶
If possible I would suggest trying to collaborate with Sierra Farrell. You and her are both amazing artists. I think you together could create some magnificent music
Great Storyteller and Songwriter. Still hoping to see him someday in Germany, perhaps even on the banks of the old River Rhine 😏😁👍
💯 that’s such a good Townes Van Zandt cover
Deutschland wäre mega! 😌
Joh. Da würde ich auch sofort Tickets kaufen.

“Never trust no politicians”
Indeed, words to live by.
Funny thing is, his dad is a Canadian politician
@@bradyanderson7686
Sorry to hear that.
I always laugh at that part because his own father is a politician
@@orlandog5874
More’s the pity
it's cute when people take song lyrics (and themselves) super seriously.
Women are temporary, the splendor of the mountains are forever.
Colter is singing more like the Canadian he is, and that is what you’re picking up on.
Real country is still alive and well!!!
Another kicker from Colter. Seriously, does this guy write or perform a bad song? No. No he does not

Cant get enough of his music, no matter the song, hearing him sing transcendent ramblin railroad blues marked him as a legend in my mind though
One of Colter’s best songs! Love this version.
I prefer the slower version.
One of my top favorites. I will never get tired of hearing your voice ❤️ pretty sure if my record player or Google nest could talk they'd say to play something other than Colter 😅
I couldn’t agree more.

It´s amazing how Colter´s voice has changed in the last few years. I don´t know which one I prefer
Both.

Colter is the real deal! I could listen to him all day! What a gift to music!
We need more music like this!!! So glad he's doing this
Colter wall is going to go down as one of the greatest to ever sing period.
Gem of an artist we are blessed
Please release more of these jam sessions, Colter. Your country loves you and seeing a new video makes a big difference to my day

colter for president
Hands down my favorite country voice. Nothin like it.
I just fully discovered this guy today when my brother played Sleeping On The Blacktop. Reminds me so much of a young Johnny Cash
ITS A GREAT DAY
That's real Country, great job partner 🤠
Omg Colter you are killing it! Thank you for keeping it real!
I find most of the songs he sings again with his new style unique, but in this piece, I prefer the original by far. Still beautiful
Such a beautiful unique sound! Always a great day when I get new Colter Wall

Colt sounded like a real worn out gunman when he first recorded this, now he's more like a happy prospector. Not complaining!
The self titled album is the best
@@victortheoneandonly it features heavily in my edgy yeehaw playlist, as does Imaginary Appalachia
YES ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Even though it's older still feels like the 1st time hearing it. 👏👏👏

I like how his voice has evolved, its so smooth now

Just perfect.
Just when you think he couldn't get any better, Colter levels up his own older material with his new singing style.

I was watching another video at 2x, when Colter started it had kind of a cool little swing to it. Sounds good at every speed.

Hope you make your way back to Saskatoon, soon.
Hoping to catch you playing in Indianapolis on a weekend.
