Biscuits and gravy with sausage topped with poached eggs. Often called Country Benedict. I call it delicious.
Oh that sounds so good!
I liked white gravy no sausage on white bread way my mom made it.
Sounds better than just poached eggs
I just wish Kent Rollin’s could be a cookie on a Hollywood western, accent and all of his affects.
I love watching for a different reason. You see my friend Keith Cash died a year ago unexpectedly here In mayfield Ky. He was your doppelgänger. I showed him your videos and he would laugh and tell me I was right. Thankin you for your service and just please give a little more to the puppies in Keith’s memories.
David so sorry for the loss of your friend, we thank you for watching and God bless you
Hi Kent and Shan. When I was a little girl, my mom use to make me poached eggs and toast when I was sick. I still love poached eggs and toast. You, Shan, and the pups have a very blessed week stay safe and stay well. Love ya.
I learned to make them from my ex-mother in law. She made them for my son when he was little and he always wanted them if he was sick. He called them "dunkin' eggs" because I'd cut the toast into strips and he'd dip it in the yolk. Poached eggs seem to have a long history of making sick children feel better. 😄
Me too !
@@julilla1 they're called egg and soldiers were I am
@Bog roll yep 👍
@@julilla1and ¹ bvv7😅😊😅😅
Cheese grits topped with a poached egg and butter is my favorite comfort food. God bless you and Shan and the pups!
Don't forget the hot sauce
Yum, in NM we have hot green chili on that too..
@@mountaintruth1deeds533 That sounds delicious
I can cook that. That sounds good
@@mountaintruth1deeds533 Love New Mexico
This is how the chief cook on one the ships I worked on made poached eggs also. Most people just wanted scrambled or an omelet but one guy liked poached eggs and the chief cook knew how to do it and was thankful a lot of people didn't ask for it because it took longer to poach an egg than make a batch of scrambled or omelets ahead of time and there wasn't much time for breakfast before you had to go to work. The first 30 minutes were for people getting ready to go to work and the last 30 minutes were for the ones getting off the night shift or 04-08 watch. 🍳🥓☕😋
I love poached eggs, partly because I know I'm getting a whole real egg and not those liquid egg concoctions from containers, and partly because eggs benedict is so dang good.
Thanks for sharing another informative video with us Kent. My dear mother used to Poach eggs like this too. While they were still warm she'd place them on warm buttered toast or biscuits. I never could figure out how she was able to place our breakfast on the table and everything still warm. She had some magic like all Mama's do.
Again, thanks you Kent, we really appreciate you and what you do.
Blessings to the Rollins Homestead and, all the pups.
Stan
My granny used to make poached eggs for me with some oatmeal, buttered toast, bacon, and a glass of orange juice. It’s one of my fave meals.
Greetings from Arizona. Thank you Sir for another awesome lesson. I've discovered (at the age of 56) that I really like to cook, and you've been a big part of that!!
9:07 The look on The Beag's face; stop dancing and give me some of that egg! Cheers Kent & Shan.
he is always ready to eat
My grandma use to make poached eggs for me. It's been ages since I had one too.
Thank you for posting this. 😊👍
Great job, Kent - AS USUAL! I won't pretend to possess your cooking skill or acumen, but I am a pretty decent poached egg cook, and I LOVE your methods! The only alternative I would suggest is to use a ladle to poach when you've got several eggs to cook in a small amount of time. Crack the egg into the ladle, and submerge in the water. Hold for 15 seconds just to get the egg to hold its shape, dump it slowly, then do the same with 2-3 more eggs. I've poached as many as 5 eggs at the same time this way. One trick is to add a couple dashes of hot sauce into the ladle before cracking the egg into it. Try it!
Wow thank you! I will try your method. I have never been able to use the swirl method. I just end up with a tornado of shredded egg whites. lol. Same with dipping method. Just a jumbled mess of egg white spread all over the water. I appreciate you sharing this wonderful tip. I will try it tonight!🥰
That’s a really good idea. I’ll have to try that way too
@@kimlalajo Thank you! Did you get to try it? Like you, the swirl method just never worked for me. Same - I just had 20 pieces of egg floating around in the water, LOL. Using a ladle was the ticket for me, because mine is the right size and shape, and until you get the hang of it you literally can poach the egg in the ladle. You may want to use a hot pad or glove because the steam can get a little hot, but it DOES work! Let me know how it goes.
@@jakemitchell1671 Yes I did! It worked perfectly! Thank you so much for the tip. It was the best poached egg I've made. My ladle is also the perfect size, so it worked out so well. It went great with the food we had made this weekend, too. I will use this method from now on!
@@kimlalajo That made my day!! Did you find it a little tricky to crack the egg into the ladle? I usually ask my daughter to hold the ladle for me. LOL
As always, a great video. My grandmother and mom used to poach eggs in a fry pan in milk. Caution not to scorch the milk. But laid the eggs on buttered toast. Left over milk went on top of an additional piece of toast with cinnamon sugar. MMMMMM!
Kent,
Thats a great start on a cowboy style Eggs Benedict. Start with a base of Texas toast, A slice of good smoked brisket a poached egg and top with some ranchero sauce. Serve with some good refried beans and a roasted jalapeño pepper. There is no finer Sunday morning breakfast!!
Back in the early '70s. a number of my fraternity brothers wanted me to join them for a Saturday breakfast. I had always declined until one day I attended. Everyone ordered poached eggs on toast. I had never had poached eggs in my life, but I decided to join the group. I was astounded and amazed and immediately ordered two more orders. After those were finished, I ordered three more orders. In the meantime, my fraternity brothers ordered small sides and constantly watching me over their coffee cups. Although I was small, they had no idea of my normal, massive caloric intake.
Woo hoo poached egg video!
I've never had a poached egg, but after watching you and how easy it was I believe I'm going to try it
You are missing out on an egg treat! Poached is the way my wife prefers her eggs. I'll have my eggs, scrambled, soft basted, or soft over easy, or hard boiled if I'm too lazy to cook in the morning and I have some hard boiled eggs in the refer. My feet are on the floor 1-1/2 hours before she get up, so I'm done cooking except for our 2 cocker spaniel taster/tester, who dutifully sample everything I prepare to be sure nothing has been poisened! I haven't done poached eggs anytime recently, mostly because I've not had a good method. I'm going to work with this because I really want "breakfast for dinner"! Soft poach eggs atop some pancakes with maple syrup, butter, easy salt & pepper, and some bacon,,,,,,"That's some fine dinein'"! I've had this in the past, but i've never done the poached eggs myself. Something new to work on here!
If you like runny yolks, poached is the best way to have eggs.
I always come back to this channel for just about every single thing,Thank You.
Love you kent! Thanks for being so generous and loving. I cant feel sad after watching. Keep up the good work my friend.

Poached eggs might be my favorite.
Always loving your videos 🥰
Love your vids mate
Thanku
This man is a Living American Heritage Treasure--and I don't care who you are!
Thanks
Good to know that 190 temp Kent. I like to move my poached right on to a thick piece of sourdough toast and a toasted english muffin! Slap a little pepper jacket on top and I’m a happy camper. And to really kick it up, add a nice sausage patty or a nice piece of ham. Coat with some Original Seasoning and the day is perfect. Oh, don’t forget the red potato home fries as well! Now we’re eatin’! Thanks.
THANKS - - that looks GREAT!!! :)
there's something so wholesome about this channel.
Love you showing more than one way to cook a meal.
I cook the tornado style, yes from the Midwest, in a sauce pan, put 3 eggs in at a time and stir until done. The constant circular stir makes all 3 eggs perfectly round. I put on well butter toast after drying off. If feeling extra nice I'll make some hollandaise sauce. Yummy, now I got to go make some.
Thanks for adding to my diet!
Thanks man I'll be trying that myself.
Love your videos!!!
Now those are some beautiful poached eggs! Eggs are the perfect food!
Amazing how just being an old bachelor, I taught myself so much of this stuff. ExLE here, thanks , Kent.
I really enjoyed your video, because poached eggs are my favorite way to cook them,
My grandmother, born in 1919 and the mother of 19 children, made lots of poached eggs. She would take a coffee or teacup and she'd dip out a little of the hot water and crack the egg into it. She'd then wait a short spell and then slide it into the water. Having that hot water in the cup started the process of setting the egg white and helped keep the egg together in the pan. She also made homemade bread that we'd toast and use real butter. A breakfast fit for a king!
THANKS KENT. Do take care. Fl.
I love these breakfast videos!
Glad you like them!
