There is a farmer in my town that is 91 years young. He still works daily on his farm, and he walks daily. He told me in May that he chased a fox going after his chickens, and it was captured on video. I couldn’t believe my eyes, as he truly was running! He’s a thin man, probably 5’2” or so and is Asian. I don’t know if he would consider doing this event, but he definitely would be a worthy competitor. God bless all these gentlemen.
These older men are runners. Why would it put a smile on your face, as if we older runners are little wind-up toys or something? We run the same as anyone else does, just a little slower than younger people do. Take us seriously.
@@pumpkinbread7182 The "smile" was the commenter being amused about the older runners. I am an older runner myself - and we take our efforts seriously - and some of the commenters here on this thread seems to have the tone of "Ah, how cute, these little old runners ..." in a condescending way. We older runners are just as serious about pushing ourselves as younger runners. You need to be more respectful about our feelings. I have done 29 marathons, the most recent one in my seventies. Don't be condescending about us older runners.
@@cathynewyork7918 There is no mentioned of being "amused". By your reasoning, everyone in the stands clapping and cheering the runners on should be ashamed of themselves instead of celebrating with the runners their accomplishments. Sorry for your misinterpretation of a simple smile.
@@pumpkinbread7182 You misunderstood. The "tone" of two of these comments is condescending to us older runners. Does the commenter say "this makes me smile" when watching twenty-year-old runners on a track? No, only about "little old men" who are running to the best of their abilities as serious runners.
@ClarkGreaseball What a condescending thing for you to say. They are runners, even if they are older. Last year there were 37 runners over 70 in the New York City Marathon. We older runners are runners, and we are people - don't be condescending as if we are needing an oxygen tank if we walk a step or two.

@josephfdent I've watched, and known some veteran athletes here in South Africa where I live. Some did compete as younger people , and kept it up into older age. But not all. One guy I knew about mid 50s, only started in late 40s. Yet ran 11. 4. In mid fifties. He is now in 80s, and still going strong. I think he swam as a young man, did not then realize he could sprint. This is incredible! I really hope I can continue to live up to my family’s long life expectancy. The majority of my family has lived to be at least 100 years old. My Great Grandmother lived to be 109.

Relapse in things I cannot mention here so that will be behind me soon so happy to see this tonight just the motivation I needed to give me a last chance push because if I don't the options are not very enlightening.❤
To compete and finish is a great achievement. They all had running form too. They looked like runners with their arms going and leg motion. This is so good.

There are dozens of runners over 80 in the New York City Marathon each year.
This should definitely be included in the Olympic games. 🙏❤️It would be THE most amazing event of them all. 💐🥳
