@@dime4026 13th and 14th Gen i9 users have been reporting instability issues causing game crashes. Nvidia even made an announcement saying "it's not us, it's Intel". Current speculation is MoBo manufacturers and BIOS that's pushing voltages too far.
I don't have any issues, I love my 14700K with Z790 Asus Hero, since day 1, I just disable MCE and run it with stock TDP and 85 temperature limit, I literally just ran Prime95 small fft and it downclocks to 5 Ghz worst case scenario, gaming never under 5.4 Ghz, I even run it with stock voltage but with great vdroop, I love how easy Asus bios makes it for me to manage this CPU, it was only about 4 settings on one page for CPU tweaks, and disable MCE from the main page, that's it.

"When all you do is game" You can imagine some of these idiots putting Air on them. Then default everything in bios. You see it all the time on Reddit. Last night 14900K 100C. Guy didn't have a clue. Basically a toddler that had access to a 14900k and a 4090, on a B650 hehehe.
I just RMA'd my 13900ks and waiting for a new chip. Kept failing the AVX2 stress test in Intel's XTU. Took me a while to figure out why games were crashing. This was with all defaults including ram at 4800
@@hopperbopper perhaps that could solve the issue however, this wasn't an issue initially. This chip just reached 1 year and from the start, it was near impossible to get ram to clock to 7600+. Overtime, I've had to constantly downclock the memory lower and lower and the instability issues got worse as time progressed over the last 2 months. To me, that leads me to believe some extreme degradation is taking place.
@@one_rich some motherboards pump so much voltage even at default, it's no wonder we see such degradation, heat is another problem. But these is what happens when you base your progress on ever more increasing frequencies. I have 12900k I thought If I should upgrade to 14th but as it seems I I'll just delid it and keep using it for several more generations.

That's the same guy who claimed the Ryzen 1800X was beyond anything Intel had to offer when it came out. And if I recall correctly, he also peddled some fake leaks about Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) clocking over 5ghz and being faster than Intel 9th gen for gaming. Watching these "tech-leak-tubers" is a complete waste of time in the long run, it's 99% clickbait designed for dopamine deprived zoomers who can't just play their video games and wait until new hardware is actually released to see how good it really is. People are already milking the RTX 50 series speculation for months, yet nobody is even sure about the memory bus the 5090 will have.

I know what a leaker is, Tom isnt an idiot. One point you are absolutely correct its a choice if you listen to a rumor or leak, be informed, not stupid!
at the end of the day, you just treat MLID etc as speculative fiction and move on. sometimes they're right, sometimes they aint. it's not hard to cast a vague moving target of general forward movement in tech. Company A won't release a product unless it's x% better than old product or new product just won't sell. Company i might stagnate because they can just fleece their corpo contracts anyway. If you want to easily bash the guy over being wrong you could point to the thing he has gotten wrong over 10 times, namely that Intel is cancelling ARC and shutting down their GPU division.
I mean ... Raja got kicked out .... people were moved to other projects ... Ryan left ... and ARC was supposed to have a new version every year, and now it seems that Battlemage will be launched 2 years after Alchemist and nobody expects to go higher than a 4070. He always said it's effectively cancelled aka, have a skeleton crew for a few years, and do a proper relaunched with Celestial or Druid.
While I don't like it, and I don't agree with some of this takes (his AMD bias is soo obvious), I'd say he's still correct on this one. I still hope I'm proven wrong when Battlemage launches. But all pointers (not just his ones) point to it being a meh release, merely same price/performance and levels as Alchemist, just vs the new generation. And with much better drivers (as in, actually usable most of the time) but still not truly good.

If RDNA4 is monolithic and not chiplet, that will mean we won't have to deal with dogshit drivers that don't even work for a year and a half.
By the end of RDNA2, if you weren't using DXNAVI, it was a pretty good gen.
I definitely regret my 7900xtz purchase not because of performance, but because of drivers.
Sure they are fine now... But a year of pain and suffering was NOT worth it.

7950x is not 15% slower than the 14900k. 7950x cinebench 2024 : 2142 , 14900k : 2177. that's 3-4% at best
13900K / 14900K and 7950X are the same, with margins of error.
15% sounds like peak overclock in a specific use case. Possible if you crank the Intel platform as you can't crank the AMD platform nearly as high

The leaks became relevant again after Dragons Dogma 2 release ... for 99% standard gamers the CPU was irrelevant in 4k / 1440p ... now even a 14900k/7800X3D drops to 20/30 fps ... I wanted to upgrade now but I´m waiting and hoping, because everything is too slow.
20-30fps is an overstatement. Those are untuned stock PC's. But yes, the game itself has issues when on a tuned DDR4 13700K I get like 0.1% low of 47 in the main town.
By the time the new cpus come out, it might be fixed.

@michaelsawczyn1704 Well, cpus are more important now than ever, in my opinion. We are finally getting next gen games. Gamers are getting mad at 30 fps, only console games. They talk about wanting better graphics and crap. Ray tracing is a major killer, and we all have known that. Cpu requirements for ray tracing are just as demanding as the card pushing them. Lack of discussion due to that problem. You see, the first patch removes ray tracing. There are no fixes to cpu usage on that game.
Maybe the game devs need to learn how to optimize first, they all think they can make games with AI or UE doing the work for them.

sometimes I think the manufacturer leaks especially if its a slow news week. But I know most leaks are made up sometimes I've made predictions and was right but you can make an educated guess if you know about tech and how a business works. water off a ducks back to me now I just watch it as background noise as working from home can be a bit quiet and I like tech even if I know its bullshit.
All I want to know is there going to to be an uplift in performance from on a $500 GPU in the next generation if not then I will buy now and be happy and even though I'm an AMD fan think its a 4070 super for the size and power saving.

You should be preaching on the soapbox less and learn how to do anything beyond punching pre-canned voltages and memory timings into your 37th "how much faster can I make intel on this $1500 mb+cpu+ram combo".

The leaker guy is no different from channels like hw unboxed, gn, or ltt. If i watch an intel review on any of those channels, i get the impression that it will burn my house down. Meanwhile, my 14700k is cooled by a Noctua nh u12a with no issues. Not only that but intel is actually more efficient compared to amd if u take into account the idle power draw. But why would these shit channels mention that? Let the misinformation flow and free clicks come.
My i7-14700k is overclocked to 6.2ghz, and stable with a pearless assassin 120SE (it also is a goofy sample that has higher than usual power draw)
That's what I say. Are most people's PC's running full tilt 24/7 or is it on idle much of the time? Idle power matters.

@@Krenisphia12VO makes a difference. I tested a few and it cut idle power draw in half. Shame it didn't get much consumer adoption.
It's also why AMD cpu got booted on my server. Mandatory 30W idle holding I/O and memory controller clocks. You can clock it lower, but that tanks performance and doesn't adjust on the fly. Intel as long as you don't go to the top end chips can do 5W idle. Nearly $150/year power savings from my own tracking. Any minor extra cost for the Intel CPU + memory is worth it if you run them for server use. It's why the raspberry pi 5 is so great. Finally reasonable performance for 5-8W of power draw. Pretty damn cheap too.
Well put. Also most reviews make it sound like people only game Cinebench multicore 24/7 :-D On the other end of the discussion are the people complaining about CPU supposed power draw differences of a few Watts while having GPUs that really do draw close to 400W of power when gaming.
I view Mores Law is Dead as tec entertainment and not as damaging as channels that mislead on products at launch.
All the CPUs I buy are in flames on thumbnails of major channels but I have no issue cooling them. They trash them in reviews but use them if they want to compete.
All the GPUs I use are considered overpriced but they replaced SLI rigs that cost about the same. Their good old days were not my good old days since I had to use 2 to get the frames I wanted.
At least MLID is not telling me my hobby is boring, overpriced and that my decisions are dumb. So I will give them a pass.

I am the proud owner of a new high-end 7800x3d system. I just built. 5 mins into shakedown of my new 7800x3d system... I found an amdip.. repeatable by anyone in heaven bench free camera lol. Multiple actually.
Good thing my wife only wants to game and not care about a few stutters. I built it for her. I anticipate it will be great at gaming. All except the dips, lol. Tbh, they are pretty rare but super drastic when you bump into them. Intel system really has never done that, and the Intel system runs cooler, hilariously.
For no thrills, no frills plug and play the 7800x3d is hard to beat... with that said...

Ram temps aren't a problem due to the 169cfm 140 aimed at the sticks, lol. Prob typical pbo and undervolt..spice the timings up and transfer rate a bit...
For our style of gaming. 4k..slow paced... I don't see it mattering much..... we will see....this is my second attempt at this whole Ryzen thing... I'm top 200 in the world rn on 3dmark on my i9 system..... Back when
I CARED I was top 60 with an integrated cooling loop using ambient chilled air through the rads lol......
So if I can't fix the dip, then...well.. it...MUST BE A CACHING ISSUE...IMAGINE THAT LOL....
