I am 40 and i just started my ROTH IRA and deposited the max for 2025! I feel stupid for how long it took to get my life straight. The problem here is, what is the best way to invest the money to grow for retirement?
Facing a similar situation, I sought advice from an invęstment advisęr. Through portfolio restructuring and diversification with good ETFs, S&P 500 and growth stocks, I've turned my portfolio around from $200k to over $800k in a few years.
Such uncertainties are the reason I don’t base my judgement on a ''heresay'' 2020 had me holding trash stocks, but thankfully revamp my portfolio through the aid of a pro before seeing significant gains. To date, I've scaled up nearly 320% ROI. it's been 4 years and counting. I and my advisor are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal and we're not far.
good gains! does your advisr work with any specific persons? I once saw on the news folks that made fortunes from the Dotcom crash, as well as the 08’ crash and I’ve been looking into similar opportunities in this present markt
I’m cautious about giving specific recommendations as everyone's situation varies. You may consider independent financial advisors like 'ZAREEN GRACE CHURCH I've worked with her for over 4 years now and I'd gladly commend her exemplary service on a public post.

Totally. To my knowledge you can only do it on the Vangaurd website on your desktop. These are the steps: 1) open and login to your account by going to Vanguard and the personal investors tab. 2) go to Portoflio tab and click investments 3) scroll down and click your etf of choice 4) it should take you to holdings and scroll down until you see holdings options. Under that it’s going to say “ dividends and capital gains”. The status on my end says “reinvest”. But if you want to change it then click edit. 5) after you clicked edit it should take you to change your dividends and capital gains distributions elections tab. 6) from there click dividends and select reinvest. 7) after that click on the ETFs you want to have your dividends reinvested. Then click continue and review and submit and you’re done!
I’m in my 50’s. Currently, I have VOO, BND, and VYM. Looking for something to pair with VOO that pays good dividends, good performance , and has somewhat low expenses. Seems like many people don’t have BND and VYM together although both seem like good options “individually”. If I have to move one, I would think it would be VYM. Open to suggestions on what to pair with VOO. Thank you.
I like SGOV more than BND. No state taxes will be paid from the monthly interest with SGOV and its more stable with a high yield given rates are high (5.1%) last I checked. If you want something that pays good dividends and has good performance with low expenses, I would say DGRO without a doubt. It has low expenses 0.08%, dividends that grows every single year, includes tech companies and value companies, starting yields around 2.3%, and performance has kept up woth the S&P 500. If you want a higher yield, slightly lower expenses, but less growth potential and less volatility since Vym has a lower beta than dgro, then VYM would be my choice.
Thanks for the analysis! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Not choosing schg? I’m assuming you mean choosing schg as well. Most people want it for the higher beta since it will be more volatility or risky so it can have higher potential upside. The downside of that high beta is it will also go down more than other ETFs and funds in a bear market. Also if you want more technology expose then people like schg since it has just that
Either or honestly. But more specifically, FXAIX if you have fidelity as a brokerage since it’s mostly a common choice there and if you like to buy at the closing of the day since mutual funds execute a buy only 1 time per day and you want the slightly lower expense ratio. But if you want to buy at any time of the day with an etf like VOO which has more flexibility then VOO would be the better choice. Usually fidelity customers go with FXAIX and a lot of VOO owners are vanguard customers and what not.
I continue to invest. So I make sure I max out my Roth IRA ($7k max) So I’ll try and max it out as fast as I can throughout the year. Then every 2 weeks. My work takes out 7% of my paycheck and puts that money into a 401k. My 401k is in VTI (I would have it in VOO but VTI is the only Vanguard etf they offer) Then in my taxable account the majority is in VOO and what’s leftover from my Roth IRA contribution and my 401k including my expenses, I put into this account and I usually buy VOO and other ETFs in this account on a weekly basis.
No. The dividends are super minimal given like a 1.2% yield so you’d have to have A LOT of VOO for it to be any sort of huge difference in your tax bill. Congrats on making over $100k tho😎
What is your strategy for investing into your Roth IRA in 2025. Do you plan to DCA over the 1st week, month, or year or is it better to put all 7k at once at the beginning of the year. VOO is a big chunk of my Roth IRA
I currently have schd, Voo, schg and Jepq in my Roth. I have $8600 uninvested. On Monday, I will invest all $8600. Should I stick with the 4 ETF’s I have and buy more in them, or should I add different assets to be more diverse? I have 12 years before I may start drawing so I feel I can tolerate some higher risk. I’m in fidelity and was looking at mutual funds. Just not sure which to go with, way to many to choose from. Any advice?
I would honestly say to buy these same funds. If you have a higher risk tolerance then you can just screw more of your portfolio to schg and VOO and keep schd and JEPQ at a lower holding.
Sheesh Roth IRA. Hmmm pass. Taxable, pass. Only because you really have to sleep on whether or not bitcoin will still be around in like decades and decades if there is some sort of federal currency that the government makes but I’m not bitcoin expert so you’d probably have way more knowledge than I do
