I really loved the Chekhov event. I loved both plays and the 3 stories. I had never read him before and I am so glad I decided to participate. I didn't know there were other stories connected to Gooseberries. I will get to those. I got the Gaskell book but I have not read it yet. I am also attempting the Against The Day reading event. The Dreamers book sounds so interesting. I always find so many great books to put on my TBR when I watch your videos. Thank you.
Thank you very much. I really enjoyed Chekhovember, I hadn’t read any short stories before. I really like that Gaskell story and Dreamers was just so interesting. Thanks so much for watching😊
Great weekly wrap-up, Debs. You absolutely can count a couple of short books! I am in awe of how quickly you are making your way through the read-what-you-own challenge. I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed Mary Oliver. She's definitely a poet you can dip in and out of. She was an incredibly prolific poet in her lifetime.
I absolutely loved the Mary Oliver poetry. I really must read some more soon. I’m pretty pleased with my progress on the RWYO challenge although I do have some really long books coming up. Thanks Pat 😊
Rudyard Kipling seems like such an interesting person. I've read through Just So Stories a couple times with my kids and just love them. Great reading week for you! I've been on the Baskervilles for almost a week now --- no joke! With Thanksgiving and my kids here most the week, I've barely had time to read a couple pages here and there. Finishing that tonight and hopefully The Old Nurse's Story, as well!
I really like The Hound of the Baskervilles. Hope you enjoy The Old Nurse’s Story. I haven’t read the Just So Stories but it’s on my shelf for future reading 😊
I started The Old Nurse's Story but had to put it down as I got busy. It's great so far, the tension is building. I will check out Mark's reading afterwards. I always look forward to your reading wrap up.
Always happy to send folks down a rabbit hole! 🤣 Glad you enjoyed _Are Women People_ - great little read! I really need to get to some Mary Oliver, especially if there's a lot of nature poetry in her work. In fact I'll stick that volume on my Christmas list 👍Great wrap up, Debs! 😊
I didn't know how varied the jungle books were before I read them either, I loved them too and need to read more Kipling. Never read Chekhov, must amend that soon.
I loved The Jungle Books and really enjoyed the Chekhov Short Stories. I honestly thought The Jungle Books were just going to be the story immortalised by Disney. So many books make me realise how little I know 😂
Chekhov is one of my favorite writers. One of my favorite stories of his is Misery or sometimes called Grief as you say depending on the translation. Finished All Yours a couple of days ago but don’t know when I’ll get to Time of the Flys.
If you have any interest in seeing the classic Russian film of The Lady with the Dog, you can find it on UA-cam by typing in the title and english subtitles. It's a black and white film from 1960, made as part of the centenary of Chekhov's birth. It is excellent.

Still got to get around to Mr. Chekhov.
I’ve decided I really like his work 😊

@@RaynorReadsStuff well, you can always balance the really long books with some shorter poetry collections. They count too!

Looking forward to The Old Nurse’s Story. Good approach to counting for the Read What You Own challenge, and nice progress!
Thanks Olive 😊 Hope you like the ghost story. Say hi to Dave for me 😂

Those suffragette pieces sound fun.
They are sarcastic and hilarious 😂

I’m going to track down Misery/Grief. How did you find All Yours? I’ve finished Time of the Flies now and loved it 😊

Oooh. I’m going to do that tonight 😊. Thanks 🙏
Hi Debs, lovely chatty video. 🫶🏽
Thank you so much 😊
You’ve read the Gaskell already? I have some catching up to do :)
First thing I did on December 1. I’ve actually read it before and I really like it 😊
Men are too emotional to vote. :) Just downloaded that one onto my ereader.
