Great as this is, does this new kit drive fuel trucks, ambulances, have c+e licenses, stand in for fire strikes, help with covid on op rescript, etc? No, soldiers do and we’ve had yet another cut to numbers. Units are struggling to meet the demands for manpower as is.

    • @MrPHILLCROW
      @MrPHILLCROW 2 роки тому +24

I agree that manpower is too short but for none of the reasons you suggest. A serious country does not require the Army to drive fuel trucks or ambulances for civilians, or help out with disease outbreaks, the Army exists to seize ground and kill the enemies of the nation, with a secondary function of enacting Foreign Policy through alliances and cooperation with friendly states. Any army, especially one with the commitments of the British Army, of 73000 cannot sufficiently achieve this task over an area much bigger than Wales.

@@MrPHILLCROW I couldn't of said it better than you did mate. Even though the UK is relatively small in size compared to other countries around the world we very rarely need the army to step in and sort things out unless they are needed for bomb disposal or medevacs of personnel or for civvies mainly. Also, I don't like the idea of cutting the amount of soldiers, what message does that send out to the world? Either way I think the new equipment looks decent enough to do the job and I like the ever-evolving advancement of the British Army 💪🏻🇬🇧❤️

      @@hudson1847 Funny story:
On my mom's side of the family, going back a few generations to the Irish War of Independence (1919-1921), half the boys in the family where in the IRA, the other half where in the British army. I told that to I think an Englishman once, he replied something like: "Interesting Family Reunion/ Christmas Dinner". Lol
I had this I think great uncle that was a British Paratrooper in the Japanese War of WW2. My mom remembers him from when she was a girl. Seemingly really bad PTSD, tough, rough, drinking, bar fights, smoking, died in I think his 40's.
That's nothing against British Paratroopers btw, just against PTSD, alcohol and a short temper. God help them suffering from it, including those around people with those things.
Anyway, I have forth cousins in the RAF also. Oh yeah, my great grandmother was English and married an Irishman in at the time Victoria Barracks, here in Cork, and lived in military family housing near the barracks, during the Irish War of Independence. Apparently a very tough woman.
Also, in a British Military fort in Cork Harbour, there was "Little Nelly of Holy God". Basically she was a little girl, that lived on Spike Island, a British Fort at the time, wnd the daughter of an Irish man stationed at the fort.
God preformed miracles threw her. A little girl, with a terminal illness, who died I think at four or six years old. The pope at the time, literally changed Catholic Church procedure permanently and globally, because of what was going on with this little girl.
I think the miracles started gaining attention when she was four years old, and she died at six years old.
The 1916 Easter Rising, IRA (and commies unfortunately) would have hit Cork in a major way, but they didn't, despite the masses of armed popular support here in Cork, as a shipment of 20,000 rifles and a million rounds of ammunition from Germany (remember it's 1916, so WW1 is on) was deliberately sunk, by its captain, as it was waiting for three days in the harbour, for the IRA, over a timetable mixup, and was spotted by w British patrol ship.
Cork harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world, but three days, in a major British naval strategic area for the empire...the last major port before crossing the Atlantic Ocean...yeah.

My son is 18 and wants to join the military
I have a few questions and if anyone can answer that would be amazing
He wears glasses does he need to do anything about that?
Is it better to get a uni degree before his short term stay (he wants to stay 6 years) in the military ?
And what kind of fitness level should he be at?
    Thanks guys

Im 18 and thinking about joining too…i have a military family and my dad need’s glasses and was in the us army…i think they pay for eye surgery or you need contact lenses…for the fitness side he should start trying to hit 30-50 push ups and be able to run a mile in 9-10 mins….im not a pro at knowing what you need but from my personal experience being told how to train by my dad and through research if he can hit those targets thats a good place for him to be turned into a great soldier…I also recommend him looking into what basic training is like so he can prepare and do his own research too..like i said im thinking about joining and dont know everything 100 percent so take my info with a grain of salt and i wish him the best 💪🏽❤️‍🔥

As UK reduces the size of its forces it needs to focus on creating a Talent pool in the Civilian population that can utilized in a War-time scenario.
For that UK-Govt must introduce "JUDO" as Sports in every Public-School in UK.
This will allow British-Govt to create Talent pool for:-
    (1) Olympics
    (2) Military & Reserve
US does the same by having Wrestling as a Sports in High-Schools.
JUDO as a martial-art greatly suits UK's climate.

Army reforms are great I love it I studied military reforms over the millennia cutting the army like Israel is doing provides efficient high quality forces . However you still need more forces Quantity is good . Look at Germany in the last century they had the best military and lots of victories but they were never going to hold on to those territories . I get you will work with other allies but still . Especially with you going expeditionary and global you need more forces ( if you want to be going British empire 2.0 ) .
