    Ever since I retired from the military, I've been wanting a good thermal scope for hunting, security, camping, and general viewing at night, but due to the over pricing of thermal technology that's been around for awhile now, they were always out of my price range. After finding this HTI made Thermal imaging scope for under $1500, I'm hoping my search is over for the best bang for my hard earned bucks! Time will tell, but so far, so good, and it's the real deal and the best one on the market compared to one's charging over $3k plus for essentially the same product.

    I know I’ve been pretty active on this video already, but I would like to point out that after having shot some video with the C18 that these scope look better through the view finder than they do on the recorded video that gets uploaded. The quality is stunning for a 384 core (the C18 is the 384 version). I’ve looked through a few different 384x288 core thermals. This blows my dad’s ATN Thor 384x288 out of the water, and it compares very favorably with the Burris BTS-35 that has a 400x300 core. It does have a base magnification of 3x and adjustable focus. These are features that I really like for hunting. Most optical hunting scopes come with a minimum magnification of 3x or 4x, so I think that is much more appropriate than the lower base magnification you see on other thermals. The adjustable focus allows me to bring the picture into crisp focus from about 10 feet all the way out to as far as you can resolve the image. I’m going to get it out into the field for some actual hunting this weekend, so I will know more then. I have used monoculars and viewers without adjustable focus, and once you have something with that adjustment capability, you’ll never want to go back. My first impressions of the device and company are very positive now that I know the mount is shipped in a second package. The customer support response time was fairly quick as well. The initial email I sent was answered in about an hour.

    Hey, thanks for posting about this weaponsight.
    I was looking at buying an HTI optic for over a year.
    I would easily opt for an AGM optic, or gather money for a FLIR but they're really tough to legally get outside of the US and my own government doesn't make it any easier so I'm going chinese it seems.

    2AR Tactical does a pretty good job of putting these things through the paces. That last scope he had was crap compared to this one. After personally looking through BOTH scopes, I'd say this one is far superior. Nice scope, Mike!

      Thanks brother! I've been looking for a good thermal imaging scope for a while now. I think I found a winner for the average Joe's price. This scope easily competes with the big name brands for under half the price! Time will tell, and I'll post updates on its performance and features in the coming weeks and months. So far, it's a winner for under $1500!

    Just wanted to report back, because this is like the only English speaking channel reviewing these thermals. I successfully used it to take a coyote at 100 yards. It was very easy to ID as a coyote and not a dog at that distance. The optic was very easy to sight in. It took less than 10 rounds to get done. If you have a target with black grid lines it’s fairly easy to pick those up through this thing at 50 yards. At 100 yards I’d recommend an actual thermal target. No idea on longevity of the optic yet, but so far so good. You could also make out much smaller animals. I would say you can ID raccoons at 200 yards and tell them apart from armadillos pretty easily at that distance. Keep in mind I have the C18 with the 35mm lens, so it has a 384x288 sensor. It performed exceptionally well in my mind. Something else that is nice that you don’t think about until using it is the refresh rate. It is quite fast with this optic. Battery life is okay, but just pick up some spare 18350 to swap in, and you’ll be good for all night. It can also charge through the USB-C port, so I think you can run an external power bank. Very happy with it so far, and very happy with the customer support from HTI as well. I meant to record the shot on the coyote, but completely forgot.

      That's pretty awesome! I ran into the same problem trying to watch reviews on it and could only find videos in Russian. The C18 was my first choice for the price point, but I ended up spending a bit more for my C19.
      Several viewers on my channel expressed "what if it breaks" concerns with HTI customer service. Well, I just had a major failure with mine and had to send it back to HTI for repair.
      Basically, I was making the video of shooting with it and sighting it in, and after about 8-10 shots, my screen went blurry, then turned into static.
      I contacted HTI about it and got a response within a day. They had me try a few things to get it see again, and nothing worked. They had me box up just the scope and send it back to them for repair or replacement. Shipping had to be through DHL, and I had to pay for it to go back to them, which ended up being $190. They found that the sensor experienced some kind of current overload, basically like some kind of power surge.
      Mr. Lin even sent me a video of them testing my scope on a recoil machine to ensure it was fixed and working under hammering recoil. Currently, it's waiting for the shipment to be back to me.
      Unfortunately, it happened to me, but I'm not disappointed in the scope at all. I look at it like the same thing can and does happen to the more expensive brand name scopes too which is why they offer a warranty policy also.
      HTI has been on the ball honoring their warranty for me, which is the plus side to my reviews. I not only showed how great the scope is on its clarity, but now I can also show that if something does happen to it, what the warranty process is.
      When I get the scope back in my hands, I'll post the video of what happened to it and how HTI handled the malfunction and fixed it for me. Overall, I'm still a happy customer of HTI.
      I appreciate your input on the scope you bought from them also. My son wants to buy one, and even though mine broke, them fixing it under their warranty plan gave him the confidence to buy one from HTI at half the cost of a brand name when he saves up the money. Keep me posted on yours. The only thing left to do is see how its longevity will be...

    • @mattsmash93

      @@2artactical55 A current overload is an interesting malfunction. I will say, when I zeroed mine, I was using Surefire 18350 batteries. I ordered 4 of those. I swapped them out for the batteries it came with before going to the range, because I had accidentally left it on all night draining the batteries it came with. I guess that is something to think about too. Are the batteries rated for recoil? That’s likely not what cause your issue, but I think I will use the Surefire batteries from here on out while shooting. So far so good for me though.

    • @2artactical55
      @2artactical55  4 місяці тому

      @mattsmash93 Never thought of the batteries being the culprit. When I asked HTI how it happened, they said mine is the first one they have seen to do that.
      I ordered another set of the same batteries it came with from Amazon.
      Soon, I'll finish the video I was making when the malfunction happened while shooting and post it here. I want to be real and honest with people about it, which will also show that HTI stands by their warranty for possible defects.
      I typically use the Surefire batteries for my flashlights that take those 123 batteries but haven't thought about the G forces they take in the sudden jarring of recoil forces. They did send me a quick video clip of my scope on their hammering recoil platform machine to show me they fixed it, which I thought was cool of them to do. I'm happy the issue was resolved even if it did cost me $190 to send it back to them, though. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive back to me from HTI in about a week.
      I wondered if plugging it into my laptop to download videos might have caused a surge that caused it to give way once I put it under the stress of recoil, but who knows.
      My son bought me one of those solar charging external battery packs to charge cell phones and laptops, but I haven't used it on the scope yet. I'll make sure the voltage output is the same or a little below what the standard batteries it comes with put out.
      For me, I primarily have used the C19 as a handheld so that I can use it nightly on my porch or when driving around in my woods at night to check out all the critters on my 30 acers.
      You should check out the shit you can see with it flying around at night also. I've caught some weird "ufo" type stuff that I can't identify. I've posted a few video shorts of those things also. I'm going to put all those video clips together into a full video also. My PVS-14 Nightvision only sees them as solid lights (not blinking lights like airplanes must have per the FAA) in the night sky. The Thermal sees their shape, and they are fast moving! It sees actual airplanes just fine also but these "spheroid" shaped objects are definitely not airplanes.
      Either way, for the price I paid from HTI, I can't complain at all, especially how they did me right when I experienced this weird malfunction.

    • @DaveOganesyan
      @DaveOganesyan 3 місяці тому +1

      Somewhat.
      My Infiray T2pro does, ALL PASSIVE cooled thermal optics do, and just to make sure I called my friend in a military training center to verify my own observations.
      Active cooled thermals don't freeze but they are not consumer grade optics, or systems in general, they are usually deployed on coast guard ships, helicopters, tanks and on infantry like Forward observers, recon and so on: what I had served with for 1 year and 8 months on my deployment weighed 32kg, another about 4,5 kg for the tripod and the same for the mounting and control system. batteries are from 1 to 1.5 kg depending on type of battery. That active cooled system needed 5 minutes to even work the thermal mode since it took time to use liquid nitrogen to cool the sensor to absolute zero.
      These optics work in a different way, they're somehow always cooled, hence passive cooling. they don't require as much boot time as active cooled systems at the expense of freezing for calibration for a few frames.

    Not a bad thermal scope for the money. But after heating to 104 oF (approximately), at maximum magnification x8 there is interference in image. Be careful - not heating this scope. Best Regards..

    • @2artactical55
      @2artactical55  6 місяців тому +1

      From my understanding of magnifying the base image of a thermal, you essentially cut down on it pixel size. It's basically starting off as a 640x512 pixels at base magnification that gets cut down to a 384/320 when you double the magnification and with each doubling of it, it will further reduce to 256 then 160 at maximum magnification. So, at base magnification of 1x, my 640 degrades down to a 160 at 8x magnification, which is why it becomes so "pixelated" at max mag. That is basic for all thermal devices.
      I'm not following what "heating" this scope means. Could you explain that more? I'm all about learning more about them.

    • @2artactical55

      @aleks5328 Oh, I got it. The operating temperature of 104 degrees F gave your scope some image degrading issues at max magnification of 8x. The manual states it can go all the way up to 140 degrees F for the maximum operating temperature, though.
