CLIP DESCRIPTION:
DCI William Cabot (Morgan Freeman) discusses the matter of the new Russian president with Senator Jessup (Josef Sommer).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The successful franchise of Paramount motion pictures based on novelist Tom Clancy's techno-thrillers featuring heroic CIA intelligence analyst Jack Ryan stages a much-publicized "do-over" with this action-adventure that recasts the character of Ryan as a rookie to the complex game of geopolitical warfare. Ben Affleck takes the reins from Harrison Ford as Ryan, a greenhorn CIA historian and analyst who finds himself thrust front and center into the spy community's spotlight when Nemerov (Ciaran Hinds), a Russian politician on whom Ryan is an expert, suddenly becomes the leader of the former Soviet Union upon the current president's unexpected demise. Attached to the director of the CIA, Cabot (Morgan Freeman), Ryan insists -- contrary to the opinions of many high-ranking White House officials -- that Nemerov is not a warmonger. Meanwhile, a cadre of neo-fascists, led by Dressler (Alan Bates), plots the detonation at the Super Bowl in Baltimore, MD, of a nuclear device recovered from a long-ago Israeli fighter jet crash, a terrorist incident they intend to spark a war between the super powers, leaving them to conquer the world in the conflict's post-apocalyptic vacuum. The Sum of All Fears co-stars James Cromwell, Bridget Moynahan, and Liev Schreiber as covert operative John Clark, a character central to another series of Clancy's best-selling tomes.

But my favorite scene is right after this. When Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck leave the meeting and Morgan Freeman explains how to introduce the truth gradually to someone who doesn't want to hear it.
YES!! That's why I'm here.
'Senators don't like to be surprised.
I hint at what I'm gonna tell them, then
I give them a while to get used to it.
Then I tell them.'
If you haven't watched this movie with Tom Clancy's commentary, do it. Tom Clancy told the director that he captured the arrogance and stupidity of politicians very well in this scene.
i didnt need Tom Clancy to tell me that. but cool nevertheless :D
We all know who they are and this actor who portrayed a senator did a good job. Arrogant and stupid to say the least.
stupidity and arrogance in the politicians in 2023 come on man you must be joking
Saw this last year and fell in love with it and Tom Clancy books.
I don't know if there is an Oscar for script writing, but I would say just this scene deserves one !
There is. In fact, there's two categories for it: Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay.
That's a little dramatic.
1:48 😂😂😂 I love Morgan freeman
1:45 Morgan Freeman with a perfect deadpan delivery of a total zinger. It cracks me up everytime he says it.
If it wasn’t for Jack Ryan and He is still out there.
I think I watched the movie and played the game just because of the great sounding name, there's just something cool about the name.
Batman and lucius Fox
In another universe
It's interesting how many movies are made about people acquiring nuclear weapons against the United States.
Well this is well timed
Harrison Ford was the best Jack Ryan.
Harrison Ford just doesn't like finishing series that he stars in for some reason. Dude even hated playing Han Solo lol, even though that's his most famous role.
@@KPG113 I read a bunch of the books and always pictured Alec Baldwin when I did ...
... well act like it's not exactly chopped liver 😜
Don't mind me though I'm still back at slim Pickens in Dr strangelove.......
Afleck is not exactly chopped liver!
Funny how the old Mr Freeman possesses the scene with his charisma , whereas Mr Affleck , while trying very hard , just doesn't have it
Of all the news sources he could call up, he goes to the all time worst one... Brian Seltzer would have been proud of this guy... LOL
👍 very well said!!!
I don't have a problem with Ben Affleck like many people do but I think he makes just a horrible Jack Ryan, I just cannot see him as Ryan at all.
It was the chairman's wife who said he's ugly, not the chairman. So if Freeman doesn't think he's ugly, he would say the chairman's wife is wrong. Freeman's reply may be a cool comeback, but it doesn't make sense.
Good point.
“Nobody, know what it means. But, it get the people going!!!” Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory
I have not watched this film or read the book, but from understanding the dialogue here, the Chairman was judging another man, based on how he appears, just like how his own wife judged him. So the Chairman has done exactly what his wife did, judge a person by how he appears. So Morgan says he is wrong, just like his wife, by declaring the truth that the Chairman is not ugly to imply the other man of this discussion isn't a hardliner. It's smart way of directly negating a point of view of your superiors.
Josef Sommer was Chief Attoney Gerald Duckworth in The Mighty Ducks!
He was also the Chief of Police in "Strange Days".
The "enemy" in this film is ludicrous and made the movie difficult to watch. The book makes sense as it reflects reality. The author, Tom Clancy, introduced himself in an interview about the film by saying he is the author of the book that the producers ignored.
It seems that Hollywood has the world figured out 😄😄🥳👏
this stupid music at the end of every scene makes it so unpleasant to watch! I hate these stupid movie clips
the music could be in a softer key/tone
lmfao! I thought I'm the only one who hated!
welcome to the club mate
Hey you guys stop with the crappy music at the very end!!!
Heads up it always makes me close at the very end so it's a mistake on your part
I'm happy this channel exist!
Damn
But-i would-like to-watch in-spanish
Morgan Freeman
Anyone else getting these clips in the lead up to the russian nuclear attack on america?
God..how old is Morgan freeman at that time?

Yes.
20th anniversary
Lol. “Absolutely Mr. Chairman. I don’t think you’re ugly.” I’d like to give an award to the dialogue writers for just this scene. Lol.
JUST, for this scene. I mean the rest of this movie was so (depressingly? disappointingly? disgustingly?), sad. I like the assumption people make about the ability of actors to play a character. “Oh he’s a great actor! Alright let’s make him Batman! Oh he’s an awesome and wild actor! Let’s make him the Joker.”
Ben Affleck = horrible Batman
Jared Leto = (are you kidding me?) Joker.
Ok. George Clooney would like a word with you and Bale sucked too don't try to fool yourself with that overrated trilogy.
There's so many well-punched lines here.
They used CNN as a source.

THE BOMB FROM IRAN
( Nuclear bombs come in a great number of sizes and shapes ( ie you can not subatitute scroll for roll. They do not look the same, a roll is one round. And a scroll is two round rolled together. Hole defferent look. )
Zechariah 5:1-2 KJV. Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. And he said to me, What do you see? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length is twenty cubits, (< 30 feet) and the breadth ten cubits. (< 15 feet ) Zechariah 5:3 KJV. Then said he to me, >>>>>>This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth> wickedness Shinar

CNN is fake news even in 20 year old films
Your boy lost. That's fact.
By seven million votes. Another fact.
He's part of a criminal conspiracy. Fact three.
You're a butthurt loser who cannot accept the truth. Fourth and final fact.
