I think that the Playstation 3 is the perfect option to begin with gaming, you are going to have a huge library of staggering games that have litterally nothing to envy to the current ones. Besides it is an incredible machine for those who want to experience the vintage world throughout a controller without wasting much (I'm talking about emulators). Ps4 didn't really amped up that much the ps3, therefore the graphics will be delightful.
@Jake Football yep, i had the ps4 and that's actually a great tool to have. I think it depends on what are you looking for in a console, if having an integraded recorded is vital to you, then u should go on and switch generation. (and also the great catalog of titles that comes with it)
The ps3 is definitely worth buying I just recently purchase my ps3 in November 2022 it was a 500gb superslim white came with one controller 25 games 22 digital and three disc with all the cords. I play mine every week for countless hours. PS3 got some many exclusive titles that can keep you engaged. It was ahead of time and full of jam pack features that u get in current gen like wifi, Bluetooth, Dolby, HDMI, Blu-ray, etc. I enjoy playing ps3 more than playing current gen because of the games and also being able to use your ps3 as a computer and multimedia center and don't forget free online. I hope they continue online and the ps store they have so good games on their.
I also bought a superslim 500 gb black model last year and it is simply amazing,it has so many features and it's graphics and Dolby feature is spectacular.
Very true. And the ps3 and xbox 360 are the pinnacle of gaming. Basically the best games came out around their era from 2000 to 2012 gaming was great. It started with the ps2 and xbox original
@jid you definitely right. One thing I like about having my ps3 console instead of ps plus premium is because the games are limited it is only a limited amount of ps1 ps2 and ps3 you can play not only that but streaming them games you run into alot of bugs and lag and not to mention if you don't have the best internet you are screwed. Even though the ps plus is cheaper but ps3 console and games are hella cheap for the most part you don't have to go through streaming your games.
@Lawrence D'Rozario The ps3 was ahead of its time that's why I love it so much. Even after the ps3 launch 17 years ago you can still play online and there are alot of active users. I'm glad I got mine last year the company selling it for 91 dollars and it came with so much stuff. It's definitely a good investment and the games are so cheap it's better than getting the ps plus premium and deal with the lag or bugs from streaming them games.

I went back to ps3 , it healed my gaming interest and made me come back, old gen consoles have a lot of good features, nostalgic games that you even played as a child.. I don’t know what happened to the gaming industry..
I’ve actually got myself a backwards-compatible PS3 alongside another one for around $50 and sent it to a well known PS3 enthusiast in Germany to get a delid performed on it for temperature reasons as the old FAT models tend to run quite hot and now it’s running better than ever running all my PS1, PS2 and PS3 games I throw at it with ease. As it’s a modded one, I mainly use my PS3 slim for online play but for offline play and the aforementioned games, it’s absolutely perfect and for the price an absolute steal. I can absolutely recommend everyone to get a PS3 if it’s fairly priced as prices have risen lately on the used market compared to 3 years ago where I live. Especially if you just wanna play on time period hardware or wanna enjoy your old classics again and especially for the revivals such as PSHome or even GTA Online now with a modded update file to experience how GTA used to be (latter option is also possible on RPCS3 but with far less people online)
The PS3 Slim was the one I had the best memories on. I’ve played on a fat model from my brother and his actually had the YLOD on it. I’m planning on getting a Slim, 320 GB model but the first one that I ever completely owned was a Super Slim 500 GB. Depends on preference but I think to be safe for anyone (unless they really want that backwards compatibility from the launch models and can’t go without it) the Slim and Super Slims are the best choices. I personally thought it was actually super cool with the Super Slim to how you inserted and removed discs manually through sliding over the cover. Imagine if a PS5 or the future PS6 gave an option like that, it would also save time on taking a console apart in case anything happened to it so your discs don’t get eaten.
Do you have that contact handy ? I was offered a back compatible fat ps3 as a trade for my Xbox series X and I’m actually considering it… but wouldn’t mind taking the extra precaution like you did

I played Resident Evil Director's Cut for PSone on my PS4. I missed the huge amount of PSone titles available through the storefront with upscaling so decided to pick up another PS3. I had a look in the attic and still have a load of physical copies of games, and that isn't even touching the digital library I already bought over the years. I'll probably grab a 5 in the future but I have an itch for the conveniences of the 3 that needs scratching in 2023 :)
I got a working A01 that needs a Blu Ray Drive replacement but otherwise still works just fine, despite being cosmetically dashed. I love it and its one of the proudest things I own.
I’m excited to get myself a console collection once I start my new job. In my bedroom I currently have a PS4 Slim (500 GB) that is 6 years strong despite this year the disc drive randomly stopped working on me (it’s not pulling in any discs so probably the disc reader is broken) and in my living room I have a PS5 disc version that I bought in November 2022. For the living room, I plan on getting a 1 TB PS4 Slim and a PS3 Slim that’s 320 GB for the memory. For my bedroom I’ll get a digital PS5 to go on the opposite side of my TV and then I’ll be set. First will be the bedroom to get done and then I’ll work on the living room since I figured I’ll have one less console needed for the collection and I will have space for two consoles and not three.
I bought a few YLOD A01's and E01's last October and was lucky enough to get one with bad NEC tokin capacitors. (actually diagnosed using a SYSCON reader, all others were a faulty GPU) Replaced them and have been playing ever since. Best decision I've made in a while.
I still have both of my old PS3 consoles, a "fat" 320gb and a "slim" 500gb. Both still work great and flawlessly. I just wish they would allow for the PS button to work when using a PS5 controller. Because I had to get aftermarket PS3 controllers just for the PS function.

Now I can even afford a PS5, a Switch or an Xbox Series X... but, now I'm PC player... I mean, I didn't had any game console at that time. But I played videogames on an almost 16 years old PC. That beast could run even indie games in 2014. Me and my sister spend time playing horror games and some other interesting games we found. Also watching UA-cam gameplays. So right now I only have 2 consoles. The PS3, and a Nintendo DSi that I bought in 2018.

It's worth mentioning that only the original "fat" model, not the slim can play PS2 game discs. That said any Playstation 3 can play almost any ps1 game as long as it's from your region.
Yup but with a 10 minute jail break to install custom firmware, every ps3 model can accept and play about 75% ish of Ps2 games by installing it directly on the hard drive
I've got mine a week ago for $60, it came with a faulty hard drive so I just swapped it for a 320GB one I had in hand, I would've liked the original hard drive to actually work tho since it was 500GB and the 320GB one I had I was using it for my Wii for USB Loader and had to go and buy another hard drive to place the games back onto the Wii, gladly I of course backed up everything in the Wii drive onto the PC without putting it in the PS3, then bought a 250GB one to then transfer the backup and now have my Wii homebrew working again, and been rocking Black Ops 2 online
I just ordered a ps3 about five minutes ago lol The reason I ordered it besides obvious nostalgia was unironically the Demon’s Souls remake and its representation of the aspects i don’t like with modern gaming. The Demon’s Souls remake stripped the unique art direction crafted in the original for a more resolution/graphics stylization that ruins the tone and atmosphere of the game. Don’t get me started on how The Last of Us PS5 remake changed actual facial expression that were purposely emphasized in the original so they can “have more realistic face rendering”/ absolutely ruining certain scenes and the message those said scenes were purposely conveying.

when i bought a PS4 and played most of the games, i realized this was the least significant generational jump yet. there was always this feeling of "what's really different? what is on the PS4 that they could have never achieved on the PS3, just looking and running slightly worse?" hell even god of war 3 remastered look a little worse than the PS3 original. the problems of the 7th gen, patches, DLC etc just got worse and online went from being mostly optional to basically a mandatory requirement. i'm having the same feeling looking at the PS5 and series x and honestly, i don't think i'll buy one, i'm again just wondering, what's really different? what's the game changing, selling feature that means i should want one so bad?

The PS3 would explode trying to run ghost of tsushima, but yeah you're right. With every new console generation, the gap in features, graphics has shortened. The new gen consoles' graphics aren't that different from the previous gen's. At this point, graphics bring diminishing returns to the table. Lighting effects and framerate are what seperate the previous gen to the current gen mainly. Old gen consoles could never run ray tracing for example.
the original fat? That's probably a bit more, but I have a slim. You can get one of those, ranging up to about 160gb storage for less than $200 USD tops (or 265 cad). Expect most options under that

PS5 is the best next gen console for its exclusives and features, while PC is the best overall as it has game pass on it also and slowly getting some PS exclusives.

150 USD seems a bit too high. You can get machines for an average of 43 USD here. 115 USD and you are sure to get a mint condition with multiple controllers, extra stuff and between 15 and 25 games.
I got my at a pawn shop for 65.00 with 2 wired controllers that was 3 years ago and still working
nice!
Ive had my ps3 since 2010 and still working great. I play all time, mainly cod6s :)
the question should be… why would you not buy a ps3
I wanna play mgs4 asuras wrath and god of war ascension on ps3, im thinking if i should get one
I'm convinced to get one again maybe next month. I'll probably try and get one the thrift first if not Amazon I guess.
I got fat model changed dry thermal with mx4 on both cpu & gpu
Cleaned all dust
Works like A champ got 7 games for 50$ play bo1 zombies sometimes
Its HEN installed too i play dark souls 1 a lot too for free was thinking to buy brandn new one .
But i may end up buying 4080rtx/ 4090rtx for my i9 13900k pc .
Play mostly on ps3 it got better games then ps4 and ps5 consoles wider libary ^ nostalgia ❤️
can you go more in depth on how you safely play on PSN while on a console with PS3 HEN, since I see you have uploaded many videos playing call of duties games on PSN (which are quick to ban you) with your modded console and im assuming you havent been banned from PSN yet. Maybe even a short video
I do all my ps3hen activity on a second account, then on my main, I remain signed out until I’m on the game and ready to head into multiplayer or whatever
What causes PS3 Slim gloss plastic on the sides to get scratches and scuffs?
I just wanna play twisted metal again so bad it’s been 8 years 😔
Just Bought A PS3 Last Night.
What Games Do You Recommend?
To get the best experience out of the ps triple; overclocked gpu (rsx), best SSD, mclassic paired with 4k gamer pro. Better fps and picture 2160p 😎
Insane
@LJ Oh Yes, unofficial ps3 pro better than ps4 (vanilla) 🥊🥊👀
what is mclassic? 4k gamer pro is a monitor l assume? how do you overclock the cpu?
I will recommend a ps3 for anyone looking ps3 slim is perfect.Good performance AND good Blu-ray dvd drive
Might get one one day
It's insane how a PlayStation 3 having 512 Megabytes of RAM can run such a high graphic game like Grand Theft Auto V.
And you can also play ps1 games on it. I love my ps3 and play it to this day. Mostly CoD ❤️
Dude ive had my ps3 since xmas 2010 and i still play to this dsy but hadnt played my cods in a while and just started playing again. Black ops is my main one but i have mw1 mw2 mw3 waw and bo2 but sadly mw3 multiplayer is not playable anymore
@@Cheaps928 I have mine since 2014 and still enjoy the OG cod's
Of course you should. Many great games and no fee for multiplayer. PS3 is a gem💎 when gaming was at its golden peak.🎮🙌
when i bought a PS4 and played most of the games, i realized this was the least significant generational jump yet. there was always this feeling of "what's really different? what is on the PS4 that they could have never achieved on the PS3, just looking and running slightly worse?" hell even god of war 3 remastered look a little worse than the PS3 original. the problems of the 7th gen, patches, DLC etc just got worse and online went from being mostly optional to basically a mandatory requirement. i'm having the same feeling looking at the PS5 and series x and honestly, i don't think i'll buy one, i'm again just wondering, what's really different? what's the game changing, selling feature that means i should want one so bad?

The PS3 would explode trying to run ghost of tsushima, but yeah you're right. With every new console generation, the gap in features, graphics has shortened. The new gen consoles' graphics aren't that different from the previous gen's. At this point, graphics bring diminishing returns to the table. Lighting effects and framerate are what seperate the previous gen to the current gen mainly. Old gen consoles could never run ray tracing for example.
Got my ps3 slim 2501 model on Mercari for $68 basically brand new
What is the going rate of a good used Sony Playstation 3 fat edition with say over 100 GB? And what is considered overpriced? In CAD.
the original fat? That's probably a bit more, but I have a slim. You can get one of those, ranging up to about 160gb storage for less than $200 USD tops (or 265 cad). Expect most options under that
@@WatchfulWolf yes the launch fat boy.
I just dusted off my ps3 the other day to play old cod games.
love to see it
I prefer PS3 to PS5
i just bought one
But I can barely find any PS3s with PS2 backwards compatibility. How do I find them?
Look online by the type name. You can also just play them through modding
You have to look for the original "fat" models of the ps3. Just look up ps3 fat console and you should find it.
A 360 would have RROD during shipping
Does the ps button still not work when you connect a ps4/ps5 controller to a ps3?
no, you have to use a ps3 controller as player 2 to use ps button
THE PS TRIPLE!!
Please Help....I have a ps3 Fat backwards cap. that works but crashes when playing large games. I'm desperately looking for someone that knows how to repair this issue anywhere in the US. please please help
did you try searching "ps3 fat crashing fix" ?
@@WatchfulWolf yes
its not a bad idea especially if you dont want to emulate
i decided to skip ps5 because of ps plus ,no backwards compatibility
no 1440p
so i decided to build a 3090 pc because
free online
cheap games
modding
customization
hundreds of games
content creation etc
ima buy a ps3 as well!
unrelated but series x is the best next gen console
cause game pass
more power
backwards compat
PS5 is the best next gen console for its exclusives and features, while PC is the best overall as it has game pass on it also and slowly getting some PS exclusives.
@@WatchfulWolf other than exclusives thats all ps5 really has and yeah already bought spider-man and SM-MM and GoW i can wait for SM2 on pc
Will probably be on PC around 2025

Got another PS3 and have a psp 3000 playing tomb raider on it and have anniversary on psp!!!! Great graphics and all long story short even have PS2 titles like fatal frame clock tower 3 resident evil code Veronica x EVERYONE is playing these games and consoles even me today's graphics suck except for indie games games back then were fun artistic and so much fun in gameplay now it's just remakes cash grabs and that's getting old!!!!! I'ma enjoy these great games and graphics and gameplay and I'm looking forward to adding more to my PS3 collection again just remembered other games I had and I can still get them!!!!! Since the PS2 even games have already improved and PS3!!!! Now they look the same and just wayyyyy to over exaggerated and terrible.....yes the PS3 is worth it I'm so happy I bought another one!!!!! Gave away my switch OLED I'm back into PlayStation again and I'm def gunna be looking at more PS3 titles!!! 😊 Love the PS3!!!!!! Def more affordable now also
I want to buy PS3 to play some fight night champion, should i do it?
Yea fight night cost 9.99
If a mod online can I get the online trophies for mortal Kombat 9?
yes, unless you are banned by MK9
Yes
i swear the next few years. Its gonna be the revive of emulators and old consoles... just because EVERY FUCKING GAME prioritizes money and unfinished content!
PlayStation home was the best rip
My ps3 is a silm 320gb model
plenty of storage there
Yea, I will buy a ps3 bcz there are games that are not on ps4,5, and bcz to buy ps Premium cost 100euros and I did find store with ps3 console with warranty for 120 to 150e and I can buy more warranty from store so yea ...I definitely buying one ...and bcz I'm bored of ps5
You paid 190 dollars for a ps3? You can buy them for 60 euro's or less in Europe
a good model with lots of storage, but yeah I paid that much in 2022, where the price is much cheaper now
@@WatchfulWolf damn ok, last year I bought one for 60 so it felt highly overpriced to me
I have 1 fat and one slim. Anybody need a spare one I can do a better price then £150. Just make sure we jump on some old games.
I would love to get a PS3 in 2023 and play gta 5 on it
Who pays almost 200$ for a ps3 i see them for 50$
what currency lol
@@WatchfulWolf paid $75 dollars for a Japanese ps3 on eBay. They usually go for 70-100 on eBay.
You shouldn't buy a PS3 in 2023. You shouldn't buy a PS4 in 2023. The only system you need to buy is a PS5 in 2023.
ps5 can't play any of the good old games, costs more, and needs a hefty subscription for online play. I have all 3 of those consoles, but just being real. PS3 has more fun games
I bought one off eBay bargain 30 pound boxed these consoles will be last collectables these new ones r pants I've been gaming for years I own most old ones I'll never buy a ps5 no interest
Definitely should lol

no you shouldn't
