i worked for 7 years at a airbag factory and we had a testing lab besides the production line hall, and let me tell you a fully assembled airbag does not sound loud (kind off like in the video), but now and then they would detonate airbag inflators (the gas tubes) that where not used anymore for quality/security reasons and let me tell you they are loud as hell! first few months when they detonate a inflator or two you will be startled to hell and back... point is if you want to detonate a airbag inflator/ full airbag by love of god wear ear protection, your ears will be damaged otherwise
thank you for posting. that recall is more serious than you think, all airbags from 2003 to 2015 are recalled. some 50 million airbags from 37 point something vehicles. you must treat all airbags as though they are grenades
Where can I buy the cover and air bag separately as parts not a full airbag I want to fix it myself put new bag and cover ? How for 2012 Civic si coupe
If I have a dual igniter steering wheel airbag and I want to replace that plastic logo cover on it for aesthetics (direct oem replacement), is it safe to unscrew the four bolts on the back so that I can remove and replace the plastic? The airbag itself on my steering wheel sits inside a metal frame with six holes through which the plastic cover connects with tabs/clips. These tabs/clips are evidently jammed in place after they’re inserted through the six holes cause the metal of the airbag itself pushes up against them on all corners. I’m assuming this is so that the plastic cover tears when the airbag detonates rather than being ejected at me, but there’s no way to remove the plastic from those six holes without getting the airbag itself off the frame/out of the way of those tabs. Is it safe to tamper with in this way if it’s not hooked up to any electricity?
Hi all! I have an audi a4 b7 2.0tdi (140) which iven owned for a few months. Great car but ive noticed that when I start the car in the morning when the engine is cold the car shakes quiet badly whilst cranking then the starter catches the flywheel and it starts with a puff of white/blueish smoke then everythings fine. strangely enough if i start the car let it run for a minute but not fully warm then start it again it still shakes whilst cranking and keeps starting this way untill the car has reached 75-90'c. Once its reached that temperature when i turn it off and start its perfect no shaking whatsover. Now i dont think this car was regularly serviced as the fuel filter was really dirty as was the air filter so i changed them both a while ago made a difference to the pick up but still have the starting issue. Then I thought it could be the glowplugs so had it scanned with vagcom and two of the glowplugs where at fault. changed all four hoping it would fix the problem but it was still the same. Now when i changed the old fuel filter i poured out the diesel that was in it into a glass jar and it looked like there was oil floating at the bottom of it so thinking maybe the fuel is contaminated with oil, tandem pump? I ran liqui moly through the injectors and the moly that was returning from the engine was nearly black very dirty so dont know if its just soot from the injectors or not. Im thinking maybe valve stem seals but would the initial start not clear the oil straight away and wouldnt affect subsequent starting? It definately seems to be temperature related. There seems to be some blow by from the oil filler cap smoking and what not. dont know if the two are related tho. As ive said no drive-ability problems just the starting. ALWAYS ALWAYS disconnect negative battery terminal and wait at least 5-15 mins prior to handling airbag components like the module. Technician next to me failed to do this and when he flipped over the module to unplug it, the vehicle (with key off) sensed a rollover and deployed EVERY SINGLE AIRBAG.
It feels like a hard plasticity material, not paper, it’s also like a woven very strong material. I can’t really compare it to an everyday material as it’s a specialist material

Newer modules do not have to be replaced
