    I'm quite keen on this , seems to had escaped my radar. I think it will compliment the samples of my MPC really well. All my synths route though the MPC and it's fx. So I could run 2 main from the LXR into the MPC to play alongside everything else, and the extra 2 outs alongside the main mix. Then run a groove through the LXR extra 2 outs, when I'm having to pause everything else when the MPC needs to load up new material, instead of just having a little intermission. And it sounds so inspiring too, coming up with some new beats that have some movement, as well as capable of melodic ideas. My Only wish was that it had 2 spare tracks for sequencing external gear, but we always wish for more

    After much Umming and Ahhing on my part, I at last decided to get an LXR02. I've only had it a week and I'm still very much at the reading/memorising the manual stage but here's my first impressions:
    PROS: Solid build and good feel. Amazing sound design possibilities - and you can play each drum voice as a chromatic monosynth from an external controller. The drum voices lie somewhere between the Volca Drum and the Model Cycles/Syntakt.
    CONS: Button layout makes no sense. The developers should have used the same UI for loading/saving projects/kits/songs as the patterns mode (i.e. using the steps and bar buttons). I look forward to the implementation of
    "Performance mode" because, at present, it's kinda empty/crap. There's no stepjump or live stutter control. The live "roll" feature is gridlocked to 16 steps per measure (there is a flamm feature in step record though).

    thank you for the video, sir. interesting features microtiming and editing in the performance mode is what i was missing. top. and, yeah, i totally agree with your "niggling" about the storing procedures. i find it unclear and confusing. at the end of the day i just store everything i can reach with the "save" button in some routine order.
    regardless of that the LXR02 is an excellent drum machine which sounds absolutely awesome, is super versatile and great fun. top hardware quality and inspiration through the roof. erica knows exactly what she is doing ;-)

    Nice to see something different to the usual tr808 and 909 clones. The ability to edit in performance mode was essential. Not sure why it wasn’t there before. However, while different I just don’t like the sounds. Too metallic for my taste, but I can see others liking it. Maybe if I heard it in a mix with other gear going I’d like it more. It would certainly cut through. Great demo as ever. At ,east this time I’m not going to be spending money unlike your Behringer Odessey review which saw me considerably poorer. Thanks again for the great videos you post. Much appreciated.

      It definitely shines when used with other gear. I used mine with an Elektron Model: Samples for awhile. Organic sounds from the sampler (vocal samples, "real" drum hits, etc) blended with the raw digital sound of the LXR made a great-sounding combo.

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  2 роки тому +4

      @@markkilley2683 it’s straightforward enough to save anything, but you have to take into consideration what you’ve edited. So if you have a pattern playing a certain kit and edit that kit you need to save the edited kit not just the pattern or project, and also need to load the new edited kit into the pattern and the. save the patter. otherwise the pattern thinks it should be playing the previous kit which you edited. It makes sense once you get your head round it but it’s not as simple as ‘save all’ and ever setting is automatically saved. … I didn’t go into too much detail in the video as it starts to make it sound more complicated than it actually is… but at first you need to get your head around it.

    15:00 if you save the patton then the kit and the patton then the kit project and patton for the patton then patton the kit patton and patton oswald project for the kit on the kit for when you're pattin your ol kit patton or pattin your mate patton depending on the project and if you save that first then you're good

    Here I am again. About to pull a trigger on one of those. Now as I type you are mentioning the Saving issue.
    Oh gee, I wish there was a way to "simply save everything" like I do in my Daw. I have the same issue only my Elektron Samples .
    Like you say 2i am never sure what I saved somehow"
    Cant be that hard or is it so hard to implement in a machine like this? Then I could save the whole damn session-project
    and later worry about deciding if I wanted to save a kit , a pattern , a whatever etc etc ....

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  2 роки тому +2

    • @sub-jec-tiv
      @sub-jec-tiv 2 роки тому +4

      People are a bit entitled these days, they expect every piece of hardware to do everything, and cost the same as a Behringer. Sorry to say, small companies just can’t create a product with the kind of insane features like reverb, compressor, etc, that companies like Behringer or Roland can do with their huge economy of scale. Gear from smaller companies is bound to be weirder / capable of more unusual stuff. But you might not get those niceties like reverb. Personally, i love to run a great quality reverb on a send anyway. So that’s never a deal-breaker for me.

      @StarskyCarr  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry for any confusion. The v1.2 is new compared to the original demos and reviews - all of which complained about not being able to trigger and edit sounds at the same time. I thought I’d try to make it clear that the 1.2 is new compared to other demos you might have seen. Again, apologies it wasn’t meant to mislead in any way.

      I can get decent snares out of mine but you really have to add a lot of mlsulation including LFOs from other voices. I'd go as far as to say I like my LXR snares much better than my hats. I really dislike the LXR hats I always seem to end up with.

      Its the sort of thing I do all the time so quite possibly but I can’t remember tbh. On the first demo where the image swaps to negative it was definitely all done on the LXR02 - the video shows me tweaking live. I think I may have just demo’d tweaking with a controller in the vid. But it’s easily done and opens up loads of possibilities.
