Part 1: • Malik Yoba on Upcoming...
    -----
In this clip, Malik Yoba detailed why New York Undercover was ultimately canceled by the network. Malik touched on how the show wasn't promoted by Fox or any of its affiliates while many of the hip-hop outlets also shut them out. He went on to talk about his work within the community and explained why he believes everyone with means should be doing what Nipsey did for his community.

New York Undercover is very underrated. It broke Hip-hop into mainstream drama. Fox got arrogant once it landed the Super Bowl. Malik Yoba and Michael De Lorenzo had a phenomenal chemistry.

New York Undercover was so hip-hop and urban that I couldn't wait for it to come on. NY undercover was truly in tune with the times musically and fashionably. JC and Torres always dressed in the freshest gear. Phat-farm, Jordans, Timbs, you name it...they wore it!!! I loved how they would have musical guests performing at the end of episodes. Classic!!!

Trying to see what singers were going to perform on the show that night. They had a very diverse cast. Malik Yoba and other main spanish male character were hot and sexy. Should've been known as sexy symbols..Malik Yoba should've had endorsements for black hanes boxers and boots, he always rocked on the show. They definitely should've had posters, magazine covers etc. They were so ahead of their time. They always do our black shows/casts members wrong. Where is the love for our black shows. But the thing is these shows with black casts are often just as good if not even better at times than the shows with majority white casts. The marginalization is just stupid and unnecessary.

@@lilcalvin7278 I always thought that Wolf was supremely pissed that both Yoba and DeLorenzo mounted that mini-strike before the start of season three. Wolf had threatened to can them and write them out if they didn’t come back to work and honor their deals. I always felt he was making a point that he was willing to sack the show in order to let them know who was in charge. Wolf wasn’t hurting at the time because in 97 Law and Order was a bona fide hit and NYU did well in the ratings 18-49, male and urban but so-so in the mainstream.

That’s a crime. New York Undercover was an excellent series. Powerful Messages. They showed how dangerous police work and being a police officer can be. It didn’t just show the car chases and fights and explosions, it shows what comes with it and in a honest, gritty and entertaining way and at the same time, they show if you’re interested in being a policeman or policewoman, make sure you’re ready for it. Kinda like Chicago Fire, Chicago PD. And Chicago Med is doing now. But first, it was New York Undercover and The Original Law and Order. Very Underrated Series!

But while my parents were in their room, I would cough so loud while I turn on the t.v. (90’s tv that when you turn it on it makes a loud noise , 😂) so that my parents wouldn’t hear it. Then I would have the t.v. on so low with the subtitles on just to watch the “New York Undercover “ tv show

Exactly. And thats whut fucked it up. When the cast wuz mainly black and Puerto Rican, it looked and felt authentic. But once they began adding a bunch of white faces to make the show more acceptable to a wider/white audience, it lost its core audience. They did the same thing to In Living Color. Once the Wayans left and the show began to add more white characters, it lost the black audience. So many black shows throughout history got fucked up like that. Smdh.
