  • Part 10: • Malik Yoba on Signing ...
    Part 1: www.youtube.co....
    -----------------
In this clip, Malik Yoba discussed his business outside of acting, particularly as it relates to real estate. Malik says he's involved in real estate development projects in Baltimore, Brooklyn, and Newark. He says he hopes to create and provide more access to Black people gaining ownership of commercial and multi-family unit properties. He gave a brief overview of how Black people have been historically locked out of real estate ownership and how he looks to combat that.

The man is a very talented actor, smart, obviously educated and knowledgeable, speaks his own mind, kisses no ass, couldn't care less what others may think of him, dresses and carries himself like a grown ass man for a change, knows the streets, respects and appreciates his Black music and culture, doesn't bleach his dark skin like Charlemagne, invests his money into long term businesses, tries to help his community and even puts Vlad straight in his place when he goes the b!tch route. This is another great response to vlad’s awful bootstrap argument (could it be that it’s your fault you don’t have major wealth success?) and lord jamar checked him on it. Malik did an awesome job of explaining how government policy strategically shut out Blacks from upward class mobility. No matter how hard a man and woman worked and saved up for a down payment, they were discriminated against by real estate agents, banks, insurance companies and whomever else.

When I was 23 I had a good paying job($1800/week) and a habit(weed/liquor). The company paid for hotels wherever I went and I got paid a per/diem check on top of everything. All of the other workers and my supervisor were older than I so I tagged along with some of them on pay day. By Monday, just about everyone was broke except me and a guy name Ralph. Ralph drank wine. That's it. Everyone talked about Ralph about how boring he was. One weekend, I hung out with Ralph. I had the best time in my life and I didn't have to spend a penny. Ralph had women pick him up from the hotel in limos and showed us a good time in the city going from one exclusive party to the next. I got to me some B list celebrities and everybody knew Ralph. Lesson? The best mentor is the one who don't say much, but teaches by example. Ralph and I are still good friends today even though he's 10 years older than I. Those other guys? Exactly - I always found that to be the dumbest shit in the world!! Cats claiming hoods where they own nothing!! How you claiming shit where you pay rent?? Our kids need to learn the value of owning property and having good credit in grammar school- not when they 30 and in debt they can’t control!! SMH!!!

It's not black men in the banks engaging in racist behavior by denying loans to black people.
A lot of things were done to keep black people down.
Even when black wall street was prosperous, evil white people burned it down. If everything was equal, many black people would be extremely wealthy!!!

@Vaughn reed jr I know it is... There's nothing wrong with America being 10% to 20% socialism for the people who are unable to compete and help themselves. For example wounded veterans elderly people and mentally disabled or physically disabled people everyone else who is of sound mind and body should be contributing to the economy period!
