I also need to say- you didn’t get giddy or gush about the glowforge at all, which is very professional... I’d like to see the outtakes 😂 I’d be a stumbling mess, and it’s so super cool that it came with some “test” materials that you were able to use. Was that chip board or pressboard or what that you used for the base- that light puck is pretty cool, I immediately wonder how I can mod a tap light to be the same. On a side note, I had a thought for lights recently and looked on Amazon for it - a set of outdoor lights or string lights that could either be electric plug or solar. Like a detachable part of the end of the cord that you can interchange. Never found anything but googled it and there’s either kits or directions to convert. I don’t want to convert, I want to interchange solar and electric at my will... does that make sense? Maybe I’m not using the correct search terms but would you ever consider something like that as a project? Or am I wishing beyond technology? (I doubt I am)
Hahaha. There are no outtakes because I always delete them to keep them from coming back to haunt me. The board I used for the light was just a 1/8 MDF board that I got off amazon. Nothing fancy, but great for building so many things! As for your lighting idea, the issue is that solar is typically 12 or 24v and wall power is 110v. So they'd have to build in some kind of step down/up so that both could be used.
My hubs is convinced youve done voiceover work for something we may have heard before... not sure if thats possible but thought you may get a kick out of that 😉
This is really cool Derek and fun to see you creating with these new toys. Based on what I'm hearing you will be able to purchase the tools, materials, and create your own Galactic Starcruiser Star Wars themed room and still save money. Keep up the great work.
Yeah. It's designed for use with a shop vac/dust collection and table saw/miter saw, but the uses go way beyond that. Plus it allowed me to put it out of the way and I never have to remember to turn it on/off.
So happy for you, Derek! The display turned out great and the Pro makes the work look easy (time-elapsing 3 hours helps, too). Congratulations. Can't wait to see what else you make with it.
Love the idea I recently purchased a glowforge as well and have been trying to teach my self Inkscape I Am excited to learn thing from the maker community!!
@@VanOaksProps sticker swaps are big in the maker community.. I'll send you my address thru Instagram and when I get your mail I'll have an address to send you my stickers.
I didn't see any downloads, only already made items. I was more referring to etching with GlowPro downloads for example. I am very proficient in Solid Works but just now learning the whole 2D laser designs@@VanOaksProps
Between you, Brian, and a few other creators….my ability to resist dropping $5k on a glow forge is getting much harder. Awesome project and great job showing a brief look at the operation and exhaust options
oof 3 hour project. Yeah... Also Welcome to the GF family. Please do your HW on the machine and know what parts to have extras of. If you have any questions you can always reach out to us we love to help other makers. The GF is a great machine when it works but when it fails support is very hard to get in a timely manor.
Right, seriously. I wouldn't mind one of everything from your etsy, I tell youu what. I don't even have a decent computer any more though.( And I used to program them.) So I gotta start with that. Then I would love something like that. And a eligoo, and a metal cnc. Ha. I can dream
Oh dang!
The GLOWFORGE! (Wiping my my drool) what a great first project for it! 👍
Thanks Kerri!

Thanks Ron!

Nope. No professional voice over work, but as a kid I was a professional singer for movies/commercials.

Awesome. Definitely going to remember that automatic vacuum switch. Good tip.

Nice!! Glowforge has picked a great guinea pig! Can't wait to see what you do with it and then steal the ideas and make stuff on mine!!
Hahahaha! Is it stealing if I give it away in weekly videos? I don't think so, you're in the clear. hahaha

I haven’t named it yet. I’ve never done a sticker swap but I’d happily send some your way

Save 500?? Waiit. How much is it to begin with? Ooh wee
That's correct. They're pricey for sure, but man, this thing is awesome. It's literally been running every waking hour since it arrived.

$7000? Yikes.
I know it’s not in everyone’s budget (mine included) but I think it’s worth every penny.
