I hope Painter has tactics for getting Smith-and the team-to deal effectively with high ball pressure and trap double teams. There are ways to deal with this defensive strategy…and it is NOT watching Braden dribble his way out of it. And it is NOT having the relief valve drive to the basket. Imagine not teaching the team to do that? Ask Painter. Painter apparently drilled the team on breaking full court pressure. Now, they do that better fundamentally and differently from last year. Imagine not teaching a team how to do that prior to then? Ask Painter. Defending Maryland’s front line? Only if TKR and Furst decide to play to their height. They don’t and haven’t, especially on D.
