I hope she's doing ok now. Smooth and Rough Collies are my favorite breed. 🐶❤️

She is back to her old selfie definitely, jumping and bouncing all over the place 😄 That is a little scary because we are a little bit worried now that the same could happen to her other hind leg also. The operated one should be okay no matter what happens though 👌
Collies are very fun and quite intelligent, great pets for many purposes I would say 👍

Wishing a speedy recovery to your blue smoothie Isla. It is hard to watch them hurt. Take good care!

      Thank you very much 👍
The doctor doing the surgery seemed very professional and we will be home taking care of the patient for the next three weeks so all things considered I am hopeful to see a soeedy recovery 👍

I know this message is late. I'm not with my 3rd smooth Collie and have not had this problem. Even with my most wild dog that ran and played like the Tasmanian Devil from cartoons. Ran for hours in the forest and still wanted to play soccer when we got back home. Glad to see Isla is doing better. Thank you for sharing. I keep your experience in mind when my new 2 year old is running on the icy fields right now and try to slow her down a little.

      Thanks for the message 👍
The situation where she got injured was very everyday situation, just tossing a toy and fetching on our back yard. A ton of bad luck and stars aligned I guess... I have heard though that it is a quite common thing to have happen with shelties that are genetically not so far away from collies so it might be that collies have some kind of a tendency for this. Not sure about it though.

Hoping Isla gets better soon! I had a Tri-Smooth Collie who was my heart and was my best friend. Please buy the pet insurance. I didn't because I didn't think I needed it. I was definitely wrong. He ended up getting bloat because he ate too fast. The bill ended up being $13,000 US dollars. I ended up cashing in my retirement account to pay the bill. Unfortunately pure breeds are more expensive and more fragile. Please buy pet insurance now, and it will help you with future expenses later. My collie lived until 11 years old. I gave him a healthy diet recommended by the veterinarian, and active lifestyle and it did pay off.

Oh god, I thought we had it expensive here in Finland 😵‍💫
The insurances that I looked at last summer did not look very great policy wise. If I remember right, the monthly payments were quite high and if something expensive happens, they cover like 50% of the costs. So, a genius that I am, I thought that it would be very unlikely for her to have something like this happen 😄 At this point, I would have taken the 50% of the costs quite happily 🤷‍♂️
She is supposed to make a full recovery after about 6 weeks, which is great. I will upload a video about todays surgery tomorrow. Everything went fine and she seems to be surprisingly okay now even that she still has a lot of sedatives and other meds in her system.
Glad to hear that you have had a smoothie also, they are a lovely breed I think. Active, intelligent, social and so on. It seems expensive could be now added to that list.
