Hey Joe, I’ve seen great reviews on this rail including yours but I saw a guy that says his moves about 2 mm back and forth and that that would keep him from mounting a laser on his. Have you noticed any movement on yours? He does have a Colt so maybe it works slightly better on the Sport 2. Just wanted to see if you experienced this as well or if it’s snug and solid?
Just so you folks know, there are companies who make FREE FLOAT HAND GUARDS, NO DELTA RING, that will still accept your A2 front sight. I have one on my sport 2 now. I had to change the delta ring for a barrel nut, but that was about it. I'll post some pics or make a link to the pics of mine, and I'll do a super quick takedown, and rebuild video so you can see for yourself their is NO DELTA RING, and the hand guard is truly FREE FLOATING! Bolted directly to the piece that goes on behind the barrel nut, and accepts the pins for the hand guard, as well as the gas tube. Also, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE YOUR A2 SIGHT OFF TO INSTALL THIS FREE FLOATING HANDGUARD. It's beautiful and super easy to install. You do need an armorer's wrench though.
Thanks for the vid. Thought I had to choose between swapping out the barrel nut/gas block/front sight or swapping out the entire upper. This is exactly what I needed.
Can't you just take off the front sight? You need to change out the barrel nut and gas block as well to run a full size mlok rail? Sorry if that's a dumb question as this is my first AR. I'm just not a fan of the sight post sticking out the rail. Just looks a little odd. I had put the shorter size quad rail on mine but I like the mlok look and feel a little better. Do they sell a shorter mlok rail that just goes up to the front site do you guys know? Thanks
