This song was on the radio as I drove to my father's funeral along with Death Cab for Cutie's song "I will follow you into the dark". Both songs make me cry.
Thank you Sex Ed season 2 for helping me discover this band. This and 'Bashed Out' give me chills and a warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach at the same time.
Kate's got one of those voices that is so clear, so clean, so precise and so, so lovely. No reverb required. I saw them doing a soundcheck once and she asked the engineer for "dry, as dry as you can". An outstanding voice. IMHO.
I heard this song when you came to play in France on my campus, in Pau. What feelings, what sensations, what poetry... I still love to hear you play and in live it was awesome. This night, I had my lover with me and that’s when he realized he wanted to be with me, so thanks I guess ❤️
Beautiful words, so poetic: "two carved spoons, carve two spoons out of wood. From the same tree, from the same bowl, from the same school... They're two hearts, two hearts holding tight. Over oceans, under mountains days & nights". Who taught you to whistle so well? I'm jealous!
I've only just found this and I'm so glad I did. It gave me an instant flashback to the mid to late 2000s when kids' films would have beautifully animated credits (e.g. Nanny McPhee) and now I'm imagining a movie that fits this song. Beautiful.
Saw Kate supporting Anais Mitchell fairly recently...there is some magical ingredient in her music or to her music that I just can't pin down; something uncanny, something slightly odd or out of kilter that somehow (I don't know how) makes it very special and as close to brilliant as makes little difference. And it's right here in this song and performance...whatever it is. I love it.
Craig Thomas Wow! Yes!!!! I agree. I saw her in Penryn and a couple of years before that in Downderry. And I love that there's not a single cliche in her lyrics. AND she whistles! ...which is always a good thing...
The magic ingredient is within the depths of Kate's very being. She has magic within & casts wonderful spells to all who have reached a level where they are able to immerse themselves within them. You are one of the lucky ones, Craig.
I love this band - and I'm a classic rocker, not normally into this genre. But credit where it is due, and it is due here. Kate and Rozi are now on my gig list - because there comes a point where you have to just say and feel what the current zeitgeist amongst so may is - and this is it! This is the Kit!
Only discovered TITK recently and am seriously impressed by beauty of their music. Love the vibe they give out. I just want to experience a live show in an intimate setting so please come to Ireland soon!!
i saw them yesterday in Saint Eustache Church for the 36H festival, amazing band indeed.
What did you owe What did you owe What a? Two carved spoons Carved two spoons Out of Wood From the same tree From the same bone The same school But when without one When without one Not the smae Lost in looking Lost in looking Is a shame There are two hearts Two hearts, holding tight Over oceans, under mountains Days and Nights When together, when together Good glows light Swapping stakings, starting stoping Borrow thights Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Runny eyes
Back again 8 years later, this song still has the hair on my arms standing on end, as it seems to erase eons (or at least decades) from my life. From what I gather from the Internets TITK will be headlining at The Royal Albert Hall in April 2021 (yes that 2021). Kate is presently working with The National & thankfully still doing her own thing. Time to hit replay. Thanks so much Kate, Rozi, Neil & Jamie & in this clip Jessie. You all have brought many, many enjoyable moments. Doubt I'll make it from NYC to RAH, but when you want to do Carnegie Hall, let me know, I'll advocate. Cheers, CD NYC
I LOVE this version of the song!! This song on the album doesn't have the whistling which is almost my favorite bit! What the heck?! Anyone know where I can get this version?
@emlk0590 I kind of sorta figured this out, the picking is not exact by any means but it sounds close enough. I'd say you just fiddle with different fingerings (left hand does very little it's just the same two chords) and see how it works out, but i could send you some tabs if you want.

Sounds like a killer radio station to have that sort of lineup.
She’s such an angel.

Me too 💜
once this song will be used in a series and everyone goes like: how could we have overlooked this song?
Haha TRUTH!
No kidding. Then us OG fans can get all indignant and say that we liked them before they were cool :)
@@laketownriots what is OG?
@@robertsteinberger5667 I have no idea. I just said it to be cool.
@@laketownriots Well, I thought you were very cool for saying OG, Lakey.
This is my favourite recording of this song, I just love the addition of that whistled melody.
It's been a while since music has moved me like this
Nice to discover this at last during the COVID-19 times.
Maarten Sebastiaan Hol glad to hear that :'Đ
This is one of those songs that you wish would never end. Lovely.

Cool story. Not suprising. It's ceratinly a voice that needs no hiding place.

You can either whistle or you can't, it's not taught.
@@JasonUmbrellabird actually everything is learnable. practice makes you obviously better ...
@@naweed4862 ok
From the same bole
I can not wait to see them live.

Same here-I'm into 80's post-punk but this is so different but just as great.

No, she's playing in drop D (with a capo on the 8th fret).
