- Want to know what I think of being a trashman? I lay a lot of it on the table in this video. There are plenty of people who watch the trash truck but have no idea about the job. This is a taste of what it's like.
I respect what ur doing!! Been a Gman for 20 yrs and remember doing rezi and throwin cans all day and bymyself..1500 houses a day b4 they even had this ASL bs and it ruined me..shoulders and knees shot..at the end of the day those Gmen that play with a joystick and dnt throw cans are video gamers..easy job now..
yeah very easy job now, but they get fired much faster now since the focus has to be much higher. Much respect for those 20. its not easy being on the back of the truck. I did that for 8 and Im happy Im on ASL now.
I just retired from the company in 2018 35 years 👊👊

I sure will. There is a lot to share. The next video I will talk about my first day on the job. It was a really weird experience to me but I figure if I share it people will understand a little more about what it takes to be a trash man.
Nice video, I drive a concrete mixer currently but once I get a year experience I’m gunna try to get in with one of the garbage companies. All of the good ones require one year experience of driving to even be considered
yeah, they like to have a year of driving experience. It's sux too because the year before I started, they were training people to do the job and for their license. Now you have to have the license and experience. it's not hard to convert from any other truck, it's just a little strange pulling up stop to stop. You will like it for sure.

If you can, always live your dream first. If you don’t you will have regrets in your life. If you do it and realize you don’t like it you can move on. I have found that if you do what you love most of the time everything else will only help to complete your happiness. You can find peace doing anything but you don’t want to regret never doing something because it’s very hard to come back from that.
I know your pain I picked up trash for over 20 years between that and playing drums
every weekend my body's beat up the thing that bothers me when they would hire
a supervisor the never had even picked up a bag I seen a lot on my route that I could

I just started working for a garbage truck company on the back of the trucks. Gotta say it's very grueling work but such a good workout and good hours! Cheers from Canada man and happy new year!

Did it fir 27 plus years, loved it when it was OLD SCHOOL get the job done and they appreciated it, now it's camera's on your every move and blaming you for everthing from missed pick ups to pucking up out of sequence, and also charging your customers more if there container us over the top, but don't discount them when its not full.
