- Today we go to Spain with @JerryRigEverything to Review the Nissan Ariya. Many people think the Tesla was my first ever purchased Electric car, when in reality, it was the Nissan Leaf in 2015. That car got me to fall in love with Electric cars even though the range was only 85 miles. Today we review the latest and greatest Electric Car from Nissan. Thank you to Nissan for flying me out to Spain to review this, we were not paid to review this car, just had travel cost paid for.

I watched both videos you guys did. Great work. I went with a Model Y because it offers just a little bit more for me but I love the Ariya, Ionig 5 and the EV6. They were all on my short list.

I really like that design as well! I always wanted an electric car but only could afford the leaf until I got my tesla. The leaf just didn’t do it for me with the styling

Wow $60K? That’s crazy how expensive it is, I want auto brands to either start using the Tesla supercharger network and contribute to the network to help expand it more because the supercharger is so dang fast and saves a ton of time.
Think that's being fazed in. In some parts seen at least 3 videos but it starting sharing in some countries
I have 3 electric car from 3 different brands and Is the best thing we have done. Nissan For me is the best you get parts easier and the confort is really good.

I'm really looking forward to the Ariya. With Tesla's recent multi-price increases, I'm definitely willing to look beyond Tesla for my next EV.
But at $60K? They need to start at lower price ranges, they are making EV’s a premium price.

@@JohnathansWorld I had commented prior to hearing Dan say it was starting at USD$60,000. I was hoping it was going to be cheaper than that. I'm in Canada so exchange factors in, however, it may still be cheaper than a LR AWD Model Y (CAD$83K)
@@RobbieRobb42 starts way lower than that. 60K is performance platinum trim. Starting for the big battery 300 mile is 45.9k usd. Small battery not offered in US market but is in Canada and is even less expensive. all Ariya models come with pro-pilot assist with Navi link and safety shield 360 ( Forward collision "that reads 2 cars instead of one" lane departure warning with haptic feedback, auto emergency braking with pedestrian/cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear automatic braking.) Considering that (yes I know other brands offer similar stuff like VW drive IQ) it's panning out to be a semi premium to fully premium product. If you don't get the full tax credit the base long range starts about the same price as a fully loaded platinum murano and about 4k more than a platinum rogue. More tech than the murano and rogue, just no leather or moon roof without a trim jump. But one thing for the US market is jumping to the second trim, 48.9K, adds the 10.5 inch heads up display, leatherette, heated seats and steering wheel, panoramic moon roof, power lift gate and 360 camera. Going to premiere you get pro pilot 2.0 (hands off highway driving) pro-pilot self parking, and a version of "basically smart park" on the keyfob, as well as special exterior trim, wheel covers, and badging inside and outside for 53.4K (this is what i reserved). Then platinum gets you cooled seats, a 20 inch wheel option (you can keep the 19s for the range) nappa leather in a blue Grey color, and the performance E4rce AWD system (389 HP 0-60 in 4.8) for 58.9K
Starts more expensive than some competition but there are 2 things to consider. 1. There is a larger battery in the ariya than similar competitors, ioniq 5 ev6 ID4.
2. The Ariya uses and EESM (Externally excited synchronous motor) which uses less rare earth elements than a permanent magnet motor, and in testing between the 2 motor types the EESM motor is more efficient all around ESPECIALLY at highway speeds. So my hope is nissan is being very conservative with the range estimates and this pulls a porche taycan where the EPA estimate is way lower than real world driving. In getting the chance to drive one next month at a special nissan event in the US and I'm beyond excited
PS: The US will get the non performance AWD on the lower trim packages at a later date, estimated range for NON performance AWD is 285 and is available in the European and Canadian markets first as far as I know. Nissan may also not introduce the small battery in the US at all since we are getting a whole new product to replace the leaf at a similarly low price point
@@Wasssup3232 Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to seeing it up here and hopefully getting to test drive. I've decided I'm sticking with my Model 3 until at least next Spring (so, probably longer as I won't be ordering until next Spring). Hopefully by then, there will be some test drive units at local NIssan locations.
I swear lots of ppl started with either a nissan leaf or a hybrid before they went with a long range electric.

How is a separate capacitive button with haptic motor going to be any more reliable (much less usable, or user replaceable) than a physical button? Some of these innovations with EVs are awesome, others like that are form over function 100%

I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle and a outrageous expense in the long run. Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. This is NOT CLEAN ENERGY BY ANY MEANS!
I also regret all the lost hours at these charging stations. I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !

They've still got to solve a few issues with electric cars before they become better then the ( normal ) gas powered vehicles. Especially the batteries 🤷♂️
Lol they’re already better in pretty much every way. The big problem is not making them in mass volume because so many of these new EVs have like 6-9 months of waiting time. With scale, the prices also comes down which makes them even more compelling.
