@@AlphaOutlaw The challenge grants you access to the 1pm ferry, which you don't get by skipping, leaving the potential for Ben and Adam to now actually get ahead of them and getting on the 1pm ferry themselves.
To everyone asking why Sam and Toby didn't just skip the Wellington challenge, let me clarify this. The reward for that challenge IS specifically the 1pm ferry, which they don't get if they skip it. What that means is that Ben and Adam will actually get a chance to complete the challenge (because they still have to complete it), and potentially successfully completing it and making the 1pm ferry. This will now have the reverse effect and put Sam and Toby almost 3 hours behind because they will be forced on the later ferry. Really not a good idea to skip it.
That would have been hilarious, but the odds of them being able to do that in less than half an hour is small. I don’t think most people would stop in the first place, and not too many of those that do would go along with it.
There are no “happier to stop over” and kinder people in the world then Kiwi’s in my opinion. (I’m no Kiwi btw) I think it would be way easier then you think. One example: I tried to hitchhike away from the airport, which is way harder then from most places (if you are on a lonely road, people will feel like they got to take you, among masses, they feel like ‘somebody else will’.) Within 10 minutes a car stopped. The couple inside told us they worked at the airport and their shift had ended. They asked us where we were going, we told them our end destination for the day, some three hours down the road, and they said they’d happily take us there. They just needed a quick stop at their house to change. We told them they were crazy, that’s a six hour drive for them, back and forth. But they told us it was fine, “this is what we do in our free time, make road trips”. And so they took us there. Crazy. And it is just one of many examples. So, I really think this would have worked and be really easy too.
Just like Adam busking for a dollar. And if Americans in big cities early in the morning are willing to help them out, how much more willing are Kiwis in the wilderness during the day

When Sam and Toby did the grape roadblock I was expecting Ben and Adam to say, well it could be the Grape thing, and we will just do The Snack Zone with a grape flavored snack we have with us.
in the podcast they mentioned that they aren't allowed to buy something in advance of a challenge generally speaking; most of the challenges say to buy/find the thing :)
The team in the lead seems to have a huge advantage... you can just get all the coins, throw curses and roadblocks, and be uncontested. There isn't much that the trailing team can even do.
imo main issue to me is just roadblocks on common paths. otherwise i think its ok since on diverging routes you still can avoid them. ben and adam had lesser coins because they chose to follow the other team's route.
Its good to see Sam really enjoy the trip, the other seasons he seems to be only stressed out, but now he seems to really enjoy, and I think that is partly because he is with toby.
The only downside to the New Zealand game is the roadblocks cost less and effect the game so much more, and only benefit 1st place.... meanwhile the more expensive curses have not provided much catch-up benefits
I think they Ben & Adam got really unlucky with the roadblocks (and Sam & Toby used them well). The first few curses were way more devastating. But you are right, Ben & Adam have basically lost this already, because Sam & Toby have so many more coins that they can just curse them and throw roadblocks for days. It might have been better if roadblocks gave at least some coins (like 5 for example) to give the following team some options.
man i think this has been my favourite series of jet lag so far, having set locations allows for a very surprising amount of diversity in challenges and outcomes. i never would have thought that there was this much random stuff going on in rural new zealand. i think the game itself is probably less engaging but i think that will change as we get closer to the end.
Toby just essentially waterboarding Sam for the sake of the challenge is really a fun thing to do. xD OOoh that roadblock in the middle of nowhere was GREAT. An amazing pull!
Doing a season in puerto rico would be really cool! It's a small island but a lot of districts/municipalities, so maybe having to do a challenge for each municipality and see which team wins? This would be less about the driving distance and more about routing + cool sites in each place
19:33 When it hits 9pm that school sign was for my old intermediate; bringing back the memories of walking down that road to school every day, good old Feilding Intermediate 😂
I recently had an idea for a season of jet lag that you might enjoy using at some point. Basically: The board is Canada. The teams start somewhere in the Maritimes - perhaps PEI. Each city among the top 50 largest Canadian cities can be claimed by traveling there, and doing a challenge. Once you’ve claimed every city in a province, you get the province. Two teams can claim the same city, but not the same province. Once you claim a province, you get point equal to the number of claimable cities in that province, plus two. So, since Alberta has five cities that are among the 50 largest Canadian cities, once you claim all five you get seven points. Ottawa and Gatineau together count as one separate province, worth ten points. However, you cannot claim it until you have at least three other provinces. The team with the most points after 96 hours (4 days) wins.
@@jaiden2458 Agreed, Canada is pretty big but they've made a series where they played bingo across the U.S. and I think instead of 4 days they do 5 it'll give them enough time to get everywhere in canada. But there still is the issue that unlike the U.S. where there's a lot of airports that can take you to a lot of places, there might not be airplanes taking you to cities in Canada in the less populated provinces making it inaccessible.
@@jaiden2458 As I was typing out a response to this, I realized you’re kinda right. A better system might be to select particular cities, and a smaller number, rather than doing the top fifty. Another way to improve it could be to add certain actions teams could take while on the road. I’m sure there are more issues with this - it’s just a basic concept.
Roadblocks are nice and all but being able to place them wherever and whenever you want is pretty cheap. This episode alone has shown that getting hit with a certain roadblock and being unable to complete that roadblock hurts. If they are coming for the next game, they should be limited to the locations that are on the map, not the roads in between. And so to make playing roadblocks more risky, challenge coins should be awarded from them but they are half it costs to play a roadblock. this way, roadblock spam is countered by being able to get enough power up coins to eventually roadblock the other team back
I cannot keep commenting to say that this level of meticulous and calculated game design in a gameshow is SO rare and its truly what makes everything genuinely tense and close, as opposed to when some TV shows edit stuff with dramatic music to seem like the teams are close but are actually hours apart. Well done! Every season is better than the last!!
I would love to see a short episode between seasons of how Ben and Adam come up with the attractions to put on the map! Feel like they're the perfect balance of quirky, cool, and not too swarming with tourists. Would be the perfect thing to help with trip planning
Didn't think that the Ohakune park would make an appearance. The accidental(?) JOLLY x Jet Lag crossover is certainly a fun one! Too bad the rocket statue probably wasn't there yet when you visited. (Edit: it was visible in the background 😁)
32:30 when they went through that trail without saying E and with Sam blindfolded it was like a sequal to Bird Box where the monster could sence good grammer.
Fantastic series thus far! I think I'm enjoying this format more than any other. New Zealand is a beautiful country and it's really cool to experience it in a linear way like a road trip rather than the typical jetsetting nature Jet Lag tends to lend itself to. My only critique is the absolute murder of rugby technique in both the "drop kick" and playing catch! It would have been awesome to see a challenge that involved getting some instruction, like find a kiwi at a park who is willing to teach you to pass a rugby ball. The challenge is complete when you have shown you can pass to your instructor's satisfaction.

I would see it more as an investment. They could have gotten some grape-flavoured snack right at the start, along with all the others they bought. And also gotten something ring-shaped knowing they would need it in Auckland or potentially for that other roadblock from earlier.
Lol the roadblock was placed just down the road from where I grew up. That other road has a place to buy a hat like 5 min up the road. It was actually a pretty good spot
Would love to see the same concept with more than 2 teams!
I just realized that Toby had Jet Lag styled fingernail polish on! That's so cool honestly, and a neat little detail
Toby's speciality is math. I guess she is used to saying numbers that she couldn't hold it in in such a critical moment.
On the podcast she says that she thought of it as literally the digit 1 - it didn’t occur to her that it can be spelled “one”
She could've just said "an hour" instead. That's the funniest thing to me 😂
Really smart tie making :)
Snack Zone intro and outro is awesome.
Finally Sam is in the lead for once. I feel like he’s always the underdog.
12:51 Lol, the 3M sub commemorative carrot for JOLLY is just sitting in the background waiting to be officially unveiled by Josh Carrott on April 1, merely five days before this dropped on YT or two days after for viewers on Nebula. It's gonna be the epic conclusion to the blockbuster novel _Once Upon A Time In Carrotland._ Jollybeans represent! 🥕
Best crossover!
Yes my type of people !
Lol I came here for this :D
When Sam and Toby did the grape roadblock I was expecting Ben and Adam to say, well it could be the Grape thing, and we will just do The Snack Zone with a grape flavored snack we have with us.
If I’m not mistaken the road block said you had to buy something grape flavored and eat it
in the podcast they mentioned that they aren't allowed to buy something in advance of a challenge generally speaking; most of the challenges say to buy/find the thing :)
@@orestriais that why they didn't get a pizza in advance for CTF?
@@warmike I don't specifically recall; but like I said, it seems to be their standard design practice, so probably.
I just noticed Toby's amazing Jet Lag nail polish and I am incredibly impressed!
And she knitted the tie too
"Do they know something we don't know? Are they smarter than us" - while playing a game written by the other team
22:59 the irony of Ben and Adam running under the sign and not noticing it whilst saying look at the banner…
Adam has a habit of looking for things that are right behind him, and running off somewhere instead of looking behind him
I can only imagine the no e curse on Ben and Adam because there’s an e in Ben’s name and they’d have to figure out a new name for Ben for 3 hours. 😂
All I can notice is every time Sam or Toby are recording in the car, the damn windshield is so dirty 😂
All I can notice is that Adam and Ben have a spiderweb on their rearview mirror!
@@karlahovde Oh god, I'm noticing that too from now on. Damn you for this information.
That ice cold look from Toby, in silence, as she dons the tie, was killer.
The team in the lead seems to have a huge advantage... you can just get all the coins, throw curses and roadblocks, and be uncontested. There isn't much that the trailing team can even do.
Yeah and the curses seem to be really shit too. Like sam and toby could just drive through the Mcdonalds and not actually eat at them?
Yea it's the biggest flaw at the moment, that and roadblocks being too cheap.
I also don't like holding roadblocks back to a more advantageous location. Wherever you pull the roadblock card is where the roadblock should be.
Also, the team that is trailing behind should be allowed to repeat a task so they can at least earn some coins.
imo main issue to me is just roadblocks on common paths.
otherwise i think its ok since on diverging routes you still can avoid them. ben and adam had lesser coins because they chose to follow the other team's route.
Its good to see Sam really enjoy the trip, the other seasons he seems to be only stressed out, but now he seems to really enjoy, and I think that is partly because he is with toby.
Toby is such a great jet lagged
Hope to see more of her
@@edra2005 Me too!!!
I just noticed Toby has Jetlag nails and I absolutely love them
I KNOW!!! I saw that too! It’s awsome!
Guys, I have a problem.. I think that I will never stop rooting for Ben and Adam. They are amazing ❤
Same
same
Same
Same
Same... doesn't help that they're the obvious underdogs here
The only downside to the New Zealand game is the roadblocks cost less and effect the game so much more, and only benefit 1st place.... meanwhile the more expensive curses have not provided much catch-up benefits
Toby just essentially waterboarding Sam for the sake of the challenge is really a fun thing to do. xD
OOoh that roadblock in the middle of nowhere was GREAT. An amazing pull!
Doing a season in puerto rico would be really cool! It's a small island but a lot of districts/municipalities, so maybe having to do a challenge for each municipality and see which team wins? This would be less about the driving distance and more about routing + cool sites in each place
Can we just appreciate Toby's Jet Lag: The Game themed nails? I just absolutely love them!
19:33 When it hits 9pm that school sign was for my old intermediate; bringing back the memories of walking down that road to school every day, good old Feilding Intermediate 😂
FINALLY MY JETLAGG DEPRESSION HAS ENDED
deprivation sorry
Faxx my brother
It could of ended a week earlier if you’d subscribed to Nebula.
time to refill the 1 week countdown timer :(
>nebula
Lol
This series is filled with clips of Sam and Toby throwing things with classical music in the background.
Ben’s disguise is killing me…. It’s almost cartoonish
I recently had an idea for a season of jet lag that you might enjoy using at some point.
Basically:
The board is Canada.
The team with the most points after 96 hours (4 days) wins.
that's a cool idea but I think you're underestimating how big canada actually is lol.
As a Canadian, I approve of this!
I read your whole explanation in Sam's voice.
Toby has Jet Lag nails! I didn't notice until she opened the sparkling water.
I would love to see a short episode between seasons of how Ben and Adam come up with the attractions to put on the map! Feel like they're the perfect balance of quirky, cool, and not too swarming with tourists. Would be the perfect thing to help with trip planning
I like how Sam keeps saying "no talk" when "don't talk" and "no talking" or even "stop talking" are all viable options
Toby's knitted tie is actually so impressive
This season is easily the best yet. The road block system, curses, multiple choices to challenge paths. Brilliant.
"it's oaty"
*music*
wonderful, i love it
Toby's nails painted as the JetLag logo are so cute!! ❤
Toby doesn't rush for anyone or anything and I absolutely love it 😂
Didn't think that the Ohakune park would make an appearance. The accidental(?) JOLLY x Jet Lag crossover is certainly a fun one! Too bad the rocket statue probably wasn't there yet when you visited. (Edit: it was visible in the background 😁)
It was! 12:53 or so.
Haha yes that collab would be awesome! Then they could play a game of jet lag in either the London/UK or in South Korea and do food based challenges 😆
They spoilered it.... I'm sad now... No Spoileralert
I immediately paused the video and checked Instagram to see if the one in the background really was the JOLLY statue. Hilarious😂
@@jasminj1406 and released on the same day as their other big appearance too 🤯 carrotland media blitz
Kind of amamazing how the shows keeps on getting better. Loved this episode, the curse was surprisingly funny NO TALK
knitting a tie was next level
Shoutout to Toby's Jet Lag nails!!
I was sitting here and waiting for it to pop op, my favorite series on youtube
I'm a Kiwi and have travelled almost 4 years around NZ, I'm loving your series team :-)
26:57
Did anyone noticed that Toby has the Jetlag logo painted on her nail?
The "lead your teammate through the jungle" challenge with the curse is giving major "I Tarzan, You Jane" vibes😂😂
It wasn’t until this episode that I realized that Toby’s hair almost goes to her knees! That braid is long enough to turn into a jump rope 😂
She has a video on her channel talking about her long hair if you want to check it out. :D
32:30 when they went through that trail without saying E and with Sam blindfolded it was like a sequal to Bird Box where the monster could sence good grammer.
This is a fun way to travel and get to see the sights. It's really beautiful here!
You know it’s going to be good when the Blue Danube starts playing
I like the seasons which involve using public transport more than the ones done by car.
I love the fact that there are going to be ike 15 episodes at this pace xD
according to nebula this season very much does have 15 episodes
The highlights of the video are always the snackzone Intro and outro, and Sam and Tobi failing at sport. Props to the editor for making both so enjoyable to watch!
knitting a tie was a pretty clever move, especially with their current curse because buying something you aren't allowed to say sounds like it would be tricky
Toby’s nails is everything
