I had my car ceramic coated WOW ..love it ...down side. I truly don't have the time to hand wash . but i do run it through the touchless car wash . I recall when i was late teens early 20s .saturday morning was wash cars day ..lol not now
How to minimize hand wash scratches: DON'T USE THE WASH RAG BELOW THE BELT LINE AND ESPECIALLY THE ROCKER PANEL as shown at 2:47; do the main body first and then finish doing the lower body where all the road dirt and mud accumulates.
I used 22ple vxpro six years ago and it lasted 5 yrs. barely any scratches, super water repellent and shiny for 4yrs, then started to go away on 5th year. Now same car is being prepped for new VX Pro 2...this time, I will apply 3 coats with 24hr curing between coats. Insane shine.
Great video.. Straight to the point and no BS. I just got a new car and it came with a gardex coating on it. Was worried about scratching the 5hit out of it when cleaning it. Very informative Cheers Jason
I have the same problems with my clients because competitors lie to them and tell them its permanent and scratch free. You have to maintain your coating the same way you have to maintain your grass.
I'm just now considering getting a ceramic coating done to my bike and doing some research. I love how you explained the what it is and what it's not, but I have to say that my favorite part is where you have to throw out there cuz it's happened so much, "Even if she's in a bikini", I'm still laughing. Thank you for the information and the good laugh.
Take your car out of the garage, wash it and garage it again. Don't ever drive it or let any one touch it. This is the best ceramic coating maintenance advice. Thanks for your time.
Do ceramic coatings require layer maintenance every couple of years of so? What happens if you get it done once and never again, will the beading properties of the ceramic coating fade?
I detail cars as a side weekend business, and have done so for over 20 years. So I know the ins/outs of detailing. When it came time to protect my brand new dark blue Tesla Model 3, I ended up bringing it to another detailer for ceramic coating the car, since I'm not certified/trained by the manufacturer. He ended up doing a light paint correction since there were very very few scratches and swirl marks (even though I am very cautious washing my car, using a 3-bucket method, minor swirls are inevitable) using CeramicPro....5 layers on the paint, and also did the glass, wheels, and interior. What are your thoughts on CeramicPro?
Nice series, Jason. I’m new to your channel, and I think it’s fantastic! Very informative, entertaining, and high production values. Please keep ‘em coming!
I use Uber rinseless with multiple MF towels (5-6), one panel at a time with a section of towel. Never running a dirty side over the paint. Use P&S beadmaker as a dying aid with Pluffle towel. Air blower for trapped water, front grill area. Love the combo Uber + Beadmaker.
Hi, my car has a ceramic coating and I recently had some bird droppings on the car which have left etchings. Please can you advise me on how to polish these out with taking the ceramic coating off please?
Even though you do not recomend adding wax or other poly coats on top of a ceramic coating would it not prolong the ceramic coat. I am considering a ceramic coat on my brand new 4Runner and then for routine washing use Griot's Best of Show Wash & Wax and foaming poly gloss.
Love the videos Jason. I've Carpro Professional and I've some water spot on the hood and a few other places. Can you please recommend something to remove or should I ironx the vehicle and apply a top cost of Reload. Any assistance is greatly appreciated
Dealerships specialize in selling cars, not protecting them. They're selling you on add-ons that you may or may not need, and may or may not regret. Choose wisely and do your research! We have a few videos on dealership issues that we've seen in the past and typically recommend our customers to never get protection services from the dealership. Your case may be different!
Nice video! I live on the 12th floor of a highrise condominium, so I cannot use water to wash my car. I have used Optimum No Rinse to clean my car, and periodically, I take it to a reputable car washer for a good old-fashioned car wash. I also periodically we use P&S Bead Maker. Is this sufficient to take care of my ceramic coating? Should I do anything else or do nothing at all?
So, what to do if need to touch up paint or do body work and the area is ceramic coated? Does detail chop typically get rid of clearcoat anyways before painting? So that will also get rid of ceramic coat?
Hey I had my F-150 ceramic coated not to long ago. Was wondering what you thought of Dr. Beasley's AdvanceCoat Gloss to keep the ceramic coating fresh and strong?
We recorded everything in one day, but then we had to re-record two of the episodes because the audio was bad. Editing took the longest, probably 10 hours into each video.
Jason - awesome info! What are your recommendations on how to protect against daily road hazards like rocks and such. Is it best to do a partial Paint Protection Film and Ceramic Coating together for that type of protection for daily driver?
If you don't mind the line running down the middle of your hood, yes you can get a partial clear bra. My recommendation is to do the full hood and fenders for a more seamless look.
I heard two ceramic coating agencies . One .. ceramic pro. Other Opti coat. Opticoat claims that others use SiO2 .. silicon dioxide coating . We use SiC .. silicon carbide. Please confirm if there is any such coating difference ? Any benefits one over the other ?
i have a friend that has some paint over spray on his ceramic coating and he wants me to clay it. I didn't apply the ceramic coating and told him i don't know about that since ceramic coatings is something i do not do. what do you think?
If I get what your saying, it means that having a coating in the long term is more expensive then just giving it a good wax more often? Am I hearing this right?
If you put a ceramic coating on the paint before the film you can have adhesion issues. Per manufactures instructions you want to keep a protectant on the film to improve the hydrophobic properties and extend the life of the film.
@@ChicagoAutoPros so my question is this. If you're going to apply a ceramic coating whats the least abrasive polish that can be used? Or you jus can't do any type of light paint correction to a car thats been coated
Hey Jason, quick question. I am going to be getting a new Mazda CX-5 soon and want to do a ceramic coating. Fresh from the dealer, should I do anything besides wash, clay, and panel prep to get it ready to apply the Adam's. (assuming it would not need polishing and correcting since it is literally coming straight from the dealer) Thanks! Oh, and if you wanted to put a second coat, do you finish the whole vehicle and wait a certain specific amount of time and then start the second coat? or anything special? Great videos!
Get it professionally ceramic costed and they'll do a pre wash and clay bar rub. Bit late but that's what I did to my brand new I didn't have it long before it got costed tho.
Wait so ceramic coatings don't prevent swirl marks and fine scratches? I thought ceramic coatings were "hard", at the very least I thought it was tougher than clear coat paint and that this eliminated much of the scratches you get from maintaining your paint with regular washing.
is there any ceramic coatings safe for installing outside? i have no garage and i live in Indy. i may be strange, i enjoy cleaning my truck and listening to Metallica or Black Label Society. i am personally wanting to great at detailing. In the long run to make money on the side from my actual job. Or am I better off using meguiars ultimate wax?
Hey Jason love the videos, and I wanted to reach out real quick in regards to the paint correction. I'm scheduled for a modesta coating next week and was quoted a level 3 paint correction, is that considered a full paint correction like you mention in your videos? Or is that just a single step? Sorry for the confusion!
Single step correction is a single section pass (2x2 area, 5 passes up and 5 passes down) with our correction compound, Typically, a single step correction will remove between 80-85% of paint defects. Our full correction is multiple section passes with inspection between each pass to evaluate the paint. We repeat this process until we get 98% to 100% of the defects out of the paint. The level just corresponds to the condition of the paint before we start the process.
Most manufacturers are going to recommend you use their own "maintenance spray". (no surprise there right? They want to sell more of their product) While I would recommend the same thing, your not going to cause any problems using another brand.
Dji Osmo Maui REUBENM There's loads of maintenance sprays on the market, Gtechniq c2v3 or Carpro reload are great and easy to use and last for months. Washing -I use mainly rinseless now, Carpro ech2o(1:200 for rinseless, it works great) as well as a few others like Optima ONR are designed for coatings and they save water.
Thank you Jason. I have seen some videos that use tooth paste for minor scratches on cars. Is it fine to use them? and do you think that they really work?
on of the guys at my work has an old Pontiac done up and he says whenever he takes it out on weekends and shit hes always yelling at people even in bikinis and shit to get off his car because they just walk up sit on the bonnet for a picture and shit dont even ask....
Why did the person that did my ceramic coating tell me I only need to wash it with RO water? they said don't use soap or anything only purified water???
Don't let anyone lean on your car, even if they're wearing a bikini?! Come on, we all know the value of having someone in a bikini leaning on your car is worth much more than some possible swirl marks! =)
This is crazy, you are trying to protect the paint by applying ceramic coat not you have to worry about Protecting the coat? Is there a coating I can apply to protect the protector?
You can always get a car cover for it and lock it up in an underground carpark and never drive it. That will ensure your protective coating stays safe.
Jason, enjoyed your coating series. Thanks for taking the time to produce this series.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Thanks for the informative series but... The bikini girls are not getting kicked off

Absolutely, thanks for watching
Good stuff, Jason! Thanks for uploading this, I learned something new today.
Thanks for watching!
After I saw a video of the founder of Swissvax I changed my mind about ceramic coating. I today will prefer waxing than applying a ceramic coating.

Jason in 2018: "Personally, I would never take my car through a tunnel wash." Jason in 2021: "I can't believe I'm doing this..."
Do you still use a quick detailer after a wash, like Meguiers ultimate quick wax or no?

Can i use vinegar on my car it got a whole bunch of water spots

I like your videos... Can you recommend one brand of ceramic coating over another?
Modena is the best one
Thank you for posting

Can i use APC pre wash on ceramic coating car?
very helpful, thanks dude.
Glad it helped!
Great series! Thanks!
Touchless washes can also damage and discolor painted and chrome moldings.
I got a Ceramic Coat about a year ago but have not taken care of it. Is there a way I can rejuvenate the coat?
What about interior coatings for leather ,vinyl and plastic
Maybe I will do a separate video for that.
if ur clear coat faded can u use few layers of ceramic coating work for while or not
If I get what your saying, it means that having a coating in the long term is more expensive then just giving it a good wax more often? Am I hearing this right?

Why does the coating go on over a paint protection film instead of directly on the paint/clear?

We use a polish that is made for ceramic coatings, it has very little abrasives and will not jeopardize the coating.
