New Ball Joint from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1ASBJ00213
Modern suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how. This video shows you how to install new, quality TRQ ball joints on your 2008-2012 Jeep Liberty.

Hey I really appreciate this video. Being a DIY guy I don't do this often, so even the little tips like whacking it with a hammer were a big help. Got both my lowers done in about 2 hours. Thanks!

Thank you for showing me that I cannot do this on my own. looks like I'm going to have to pay my sheisty mechanic. I'm sure I'm going to go in there solving one problem and needing three more taken care of as usual, but thank you either way.

Subaru codes their knuckle with a crosswise bolt, not a press fit. I love my Jeep, but MUCH easier for this job.

Just did this job and I am glad mine is a pre 2008 because the ball joint is in the knuckle and not the lower control arm ...just remove knuckle pound out old one and pound in new one new cars are junk

@@dhand97 yep they are junk. My ball joint completely separated from its socket less than 5 months / 1500 miles later. You can go buy a cheap ball joint from the parts store and feel the weight and quality difference just holding it in your hand.

@@probablynotwearingpants6228 my point exactly these parts cost me so much time in the end I should have just got moogs

@@dhand97 yeah I feel ya. I couldn't get the moogs this time around cause I was almost tapped out from the tow bill an press rental and they are over 70 each for my truck. but i ended up with duralast joints from Advance and the production quality is a night and day difference.

I can't tighten the upper ball joint. I've had a jack under lower control arm, crowbar under the spring pressing down on upper control arm, impact, wrench, still spins. I weigh 170 lbs. And wad sitting on the crowbar, stud still spins. Am I at a point where I need to replace the upper? I even let the bolt soak in wd40 overnight

I would like to have this done but i don't think the mechanics around here would know how to do it or care to do it correctly, but would charge me 5000 easily.

Ithink it just slides out on its own once you take the knuckle off.

He used an air chisel to the center of the axel shaft. If you don't have one you can use a bronze chisel with a hammer or a jaw puller.
