Hi Tori,I found a fab tutorial on just for kids on how to fold and cut a 5 pointed star which I will use as a template. Also I think I shall just make a cut in the backing material to turn the star out and then put a heart patch over it when I’ve stuffed it. Thank you so much for your inspirational tutorial, I’m off to make one !
These are wonderful, thank you. The only thing I do a bit different to secure my pieces to the backing is to use a long machine stitch over all the little bits, which I pull out later. The addition of beads gives it a nice texture and sparkle. I will be making them, great job. ❤
I think this is my favorite project I have done since I started watching your channel. An entire Christmas tree of slow stitched ornaments would be so amazing!
This is fun, I think I am addicted to making them. I stitch around the whole star and cut a slit in the backing to turn, for me this is a lirtle less fiddly and I can make really small stars backed this way. You have great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I love it when You say “ I HAVE MY WAYS…..”also the sentiment of why “slow stitching is called slow stitching”…..turning inside out “ is not for the faint-hearted “……loved this tutorial but it came to me at lunchtime and now “ I need my SNAP ….”short nap”….. to dream about making starlights……haha
I ordered some of these applique pins. Wow! they are so well behaved. They are easy to avoid with my thread, they don't stab me and I love them. So I ordered a second box of the pins to be sure to not run out. Thank you for mentioning them. ❤❤❤
Oh, I love this! I'm always looking for unique things to do when I'm on the road or waiting somewhere. This is so creative and each one is different. Thank you so much!
Great idea! You could do a multi-pointed star using Trapunto technique to avoid turning inside out maybe. Thank you, I was looking for a tree decoration and I LOVE slow stitching. Hadn't thought of it ... duh! 😂❤
Hi love the star will be doing it. To the faint hearted try doing blanket stitch around the edge then no need to restle with the pulling thru just a suggestion ❤
Hey there Tori. Love the starz. Love the idea of a pin cushion or maybe a tree ornie (or bauble as you folks across the way say). For years now I have been discarding my tiny cotton scraps. Being a quilter they always seemed too small to be usable. Well, now I regret that shameful waste of tiny treasures. Nothing to be done about it, but how sad. They would be spectacular star bits. Hope you continue to recover from your allergy crud. Have the very best of days or nights depending upon when you read this. Take care and hugs from Round Rock Texas (yes, there really is a round rock here). Ciao bella!
Hi Kyra and thank you! No time like the present to start building a scrappy stash 🥰. I’m feeling much better already thank you and sending out best wishes and hugs to you! ❤️
I'm watching this whilst my boyfriend is very unwell in hospital not sure if he's going to be ok. I needed something relaxing to watch in between visiting him.
I love the star tutorial, great ideas. Turning might be easier if you make a slit in the center of the back instead of the point. It would be easier to close. Great tutorial. Thanks
Thank you Jennie! So glad you enjoyed it 🥰 I think I did mention the slit in the back and then to put a decorative element over the top of that to hide it 🥰
New subscriber here. Awesome slow stitch stars projects! I’ve just started slow stitching and am enjoying it immensely. Thanks for an easy to follow tutorial. Have a wonderful week. 🪡🧵🪡
These are a perfect adornment for Christmas treesTori, I haven't even got my tree up yet. Had to have the side of my fireplace removed by an aspestos team, wait for it to be replaced and have been waiting two weeks impatiently to paint the plaster that wouldn't dry. Finally painted it yesterday and finished today, then off to visit my Aunt tomorrow so the tree will have to wait untill tomorrow night 🤞 I have decorated 5 Wreaths, put my Mum's decs up, did her tesco order, and got my partners tree and decs done. No time for all the fun crafting I had planned😢. So I'm going to make things early next year🌞, instead of waiting untill it feels christmasy 😅 I am behind watching my fave youtubers vlogmas videos too. I decided to change my colour scheme of my decorations this year thinking I'll make some new things. 🤦♀️ what was I thinking. Well these little stars will definitely be on my tree next year lol. So sweet 🧡💛 I think a smaller one would make a great bag charm. 🤗⛄🎄🌟
Aww Kim don’t worry. I am waiting until tomorrow to put mine up too! You have been supremely busy enough already! I know what you mean about getting a head start. I did that with some of my handmade presents this year :). My tree never really has a colour scheme - it’s just a mad flurry of all the colours! 🥰🤣. Hope you get some time for yourself soon - hugs 🥰
@@KoolKookyKreatures Thank you Tori, I'm definitely feeling it this year for some reason. I'm usually on the go non stop but having to hit the hay early the last few nights, thinking what I could be doing if I could stay up a few more hours 🤔😴 there was me thinking, your tree would definitely be up, makes me feel a bit better 😊 I need to take a leaf out of your book, start earlier. I have had all sorts of colour schemes. I know you love your 🌈🎄I bought a tree skirt that is black gold and white fur with a sequin reindeer on it, and my tree is black, so decided to go champagne gold, black and white. I have made some sparkly foam black and gold twisted baubles at my craft group and imagined quite a few more 😄 it won't take long to decorate, if it manages to get out of it's box. Thanks for the encouragement x🙂🤗🌟🎄☃️
@kimtownsend838 oooh your tree skirt sounds very lovely! I’m fond of some sequins myself. Haha I had to laugh when you mentioned your twisty baubles because I have been making some of those myself at a craft club only last week! Today is the first day of Yuletide so it’s a perfect day to get out the tree :) xx have a good one 🥰
@KoolKookyKreatures Hehe yes I can't wait to get my tree snuggled up in it 🎄 sounds like a great club 😁 Thanks Tori, I expect your tree will be all singing all dancing 🎄🥳 merry HoHo 🥰🎅⛄️🤍
This is a great way to use scraps and slow stitching projects... hearts and crescents would also be great shapes. I don't have the Fiskar's template so I'll have to find a suitable star template somewhere to try this. Thank you for the intro to Flying Tiger. They have some nice items which I couldn't resist buying, especially the boxes of beads!
Thank you Christine! Yes - both of those ideas would be great - hearts would also work well for Valentines or weddings. Flying Tiger is great for quality and affordable items - the beads especially :) ❤️
Another idea would be to draw the star on the reverse on the white felt, as you would be able to see the stitching around your heart shape so you could still centre it. Would it be possible to have a star template to download please.💕
I really appreciate this tutorial! But all the hand gestures get in the way sometimes (for me) of understanding what you are saying, and showing your beautiful work--the hands are kind of a distraction. Just. me, though, I'm sure... your stars are beautiful, and I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you again...
Oh wow I absolutely love the star. If I can find time to make before Christmas they’ll either go on my tree or tied to gifts.
They are very addictive to make :) enjoy stitching ❤️

Maybe I should do one ;)

You are very welcome - I did the exact same thing! Two boxes - one for my travel kit and one for my desk ❤️❤️
Love the green backing fabric, & I kept hoping you'd show the back of the pink star!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
