I enjoyed the interview tremendously. Irijah is my daughter, she is great inspiration to me. For the past 2 years I have been visiting Negril, I really enjoy my time there. New Year's Eve on the beach was an Amazing experience.
Looking forward to returning back to JA soon. Keep up the good work Throp, I enjoy all of your interviews.

Great interview again Throp! Excellent story and great energy Irijah...Wishing you great success! Hmmm.. destiny that she was placed in your path...right across from Travellers Beach.Fabulous..those of us with Jamaican parents that introduced or immersed us in Jamaican culture throughout our childhoods have created generations of children with a true love of Jamaica...totally awesome. There is truly so much we can do, if all the brain drain returns to build our country and enjoy it 🇯🇲

Complements to you both on what makes JA so unique, and the clarity of how to inspire and transcend the narrative.
I just happened to come across this interview, and it reminded me of how l felt about Negril when l was younger. Many times day and nights of freedom along the west end, and other parishes of JA without fear. It is wonderful to hear the same or a should l say newer elevation of Jamaican culture.
Respect to you both for igniting those feelings all over again!!

Throp, I commend you immensely for doing these interviews, I feel it is so necessary that we have these conversations. Many of us would like to make the transition of coming back to Jamaica and would love to invest in the infrastructure but all you hear about Jamaica is doom and gloom where the crime is concerned. Thank you for shedding some light on other important factors that can overshadow all the negativity and focus more on positivity and prosperity of what can be done to make Jamaica a place where others want to come to (other than to have jerk chicken). Your podcasts are a breath of fresh air. Well done!! Keep up the good work .

She is from NYC and found what freedom is in Jamaica. Is it like us leaving Jamaica and going to the USA and in this huge country and yet feel claustrophobic. A question I ask after a few months in the USA was , where is the freedom they talk about? It took me like 6-12 months to understand the 'Boxed' freedom (I call it) there. So, not free like Jamaica.
I hope the policies and changes the JLP wants to make don't take away the freedom that we Jamaicans cherish.

Great interview and ideas....as Throp states Jamaicans need to be the ones who develop our communities........can they first start with completing the projects started...for example paving parking lots....finish the buildings that lay dormant for years or sell them....make sure roads have proper drainage before properly paving them..Jamaica needs more urban planners and people who are held accountable to see that the governments money is spent properly..quality is key.....if outsiders come and do the work and make the profits we need not grumble...

Hello my brother, I love your podcast, it is so informative , interesting, enlightening and a breath of fresh air if you will. I believe this forum is so necessary for Jamaica, reasons being is that there are so many people perpetuates these myths of Jamaica, for example, people would say, "Jamaica is dangerous to live/visit" this is false!! Jamaica is truly heaven on earth, just to say the least. I am a Canadian, migrated here from Jamaica as a young teenager and so, many people as far as Florida when visiting family, people would have this reluctance about retirement in the land of their birth mainly because of these myths. I am a social worker/Behavioural therapist and if I may take the liberty to say one of my studies in college and subsequently in university is global village and so Jamaica is the creme-de-la- creme of the Islands. With regards to dangerous, look how many murders daily in Ontario, let's not talk about Canada on a whole. Look at Americans crime rate, mass shootings etc, in comparison to Jamaica, no where is better than yard. I'm in Jamaica frequently and so, it's the highlight of my adult life, Jamaica is an absolute jem which is now shown around the world thanks to your ingenuity. I listened to this guy interviews all the time and, when I expressed myself about what I know. Then you have some cyber bullies is trying to criticized me, but I am just speaking the truth. Becaused their is a lot of people who strongly believes, that Jamaica is the most violent place on earth. Which I know that it is a lie, even some of the same Jamaicans them. Who is new comer to foreign, they always talk a lot of negativities about Jamaica. Becaused some of several reasons why they are afraid to go back home, because they know what they did before leaving.Listenting to this fine nice hot 🔥 chocolate body young lady, from New York City. Which moved from there to Jamaica, because she is much free to move around to an extent.Becaused in any country you go to, there are certain areas, which is very, very dangerous to go to.I have been to a few countries and spend sometime there, and see real violence.I want to know why so many people around the world is falling in love 💕 with Jamaica so, although you have some is saying that they are afraid to go there.Anyone that lives in New York City, can lived anywhere in the world and don't afraid of anything. I remembered when New York City was one of the most violent city in the world,it is Rudy Giuliani was mayor of the city. Things can of change,my father was living there since 1970 until he died decades after.

I am a British solicitor and a Jamaican attorney at law. I am a Maroon who can claim on my father's side to be a direct descendant of the 1795 second Maroon war in Trelawney. My mother was born in Portland Jamaica. I was born in London England. I am President of the Jamaican Forum For Human Rights and worked as a missionary for 14 years amongst the poor and less fortunate Jamaicans and have lived in 9 Jamaican garrisons (Jamaican ghettos). Jamaica is a beautiful country but Human Rights abuses needs to be addressed. I am a senior now retired attorney at law and the legal system is totally corrupt. I think that if you are going to be transparent you should try to find out why I was the victim of a murder to hire plot and why corruption is slowly but surely depriving litigants of their fundamental God given rights. If you are nostalgic dreamers of our ancestral home and then refuse to address poignant issues relevant to the ordinary people of Jamaica, then what is being spread is nothing more than one sided propaganda.

Jamaican is special because its not copping the western world. For example, things that will pollute our island. We love enjoying the outdoors without the distraction of all the technology it allows us to connect with nature. We get enough of all the same things being in USA or Canada or England etc. Being different is why we all go there so why are we so quick to make it mirror where u are running from? Love the interview and glad you are on the island but don't be too quick to make it be like where you leave, it takes away the uniqueness.
